Chilly [door open] and lacked atmosphere [first lunchers], but the food was very good and very well presented. Turns out the Chef has a great reputation in the Town and is instrumental in this newfound success. Ate and drank there many years ago when it was a 'different establishment'. Locals in high-praise of the Indian Chef/Owner. Staff were attentive and pleasant.

Visited for an evening meal on the first night of our family holiday. Was pleasantly surprised and even more so with the Indian themed menu. The food was absolutely amazing - the biryani was one of the best I've ever had! Kids meals were nice too! Not your usual 'fast' pub food. Would definitely recommend - can't speak for the hotel but the staff in the restaurant were polite and attentive.

Starters were ok, and everything was looking good for a nice night out with the missus. But then the mains came and everything went downhill. Her haddock had some peas, that were... Rotten. Smelly. We tried to call the waiter, but at this time all 4 employees were more focused on a chit-chat that took more than an hour than serving customers. They were also taking many breaks to smoke outside, as if the night was over. It wasn't.Ambience-wise, the kitchen had loud music playing, as if it was a rave. There was also music playing on the dining room, so we were listening to two music sources. Completely maddening.A young child (7 years old or so) had been screaming, running around and trying to talk with every patron inside since we came in. Her dad was as uneducated as her, talking loudly on his mobile and pretending the kid didn't exist. But when we saw her standing (yes, standing) on the bar counter barefoot, we thought it was too much. Then we found it was a regular. But we still considered it abusive and rude. When we went to pay - and I say "went" because no one came to the table even after we waved for 5 minutes - of course "payment by card is not available".Unfortunately I was not surprised. In summary: a noisy environment, some food was a health and safety risk, abusive patrons, and a place we want to forget.

The reason I am leaving a review on the Glendevon is solely because of the lady who served us. The food was good, fish and chips, but the lady who took our order and spent time chatting to us, made our lunch all that much better. I cannot recall her name, a fact that saddens me, but she has a tattoo of her daughters irregular heartbeat on her shoulder and she'll know who she is when reading this. Worth going just to be made to feel special by her.

Had a very pleasent meal elsewhere in Auchterader and we were looking for a place to enjoy a few drinks. alarm bells should have rung when we asked the hotel receptionist where we were staying which pub they would recommend in the village and he replied "NONE" but the Glendevon was the least unpleasent. We took the risk and found a very large sparsely furnished bar area with approx 6 locals at the bar. Absolutely no atmosphere. Wall paper missing from walls and looked generally very grubby. First pub I've been in where tables were being prepared for breakfast at 10pm. Unfriendly staff and very poor selection of beers. My partner had to use the toilet and stated they were "minging." If this was the best pub in Auchterader I am glad it was a short visit.

We stopped in on a quiet Wednesday evening but were still kept waiting a long time. Our soft drinks took 20 minutes to arrive, our main courses well over 30 minutes - meanwhile, the table behind enjoyed two courses during this time. They do advertise a waiting time on the menu as some are 'cooked to order' and, yes, I was asked how I'd like my steak. But it's more a case of 'you'll like what you get' - and that's how it was done before the microwave got hold of it. My wife's salmon was similarly frazzled. It's basic pub grub but at hotel prices - very poor value for money and very, very slow. Avoid.

Food took a wee while to come but this fine as presumably cooked to order. All good, 4 empty plates. The kids menu included an ice cream however we needed to get going again, the kids were given an Easter egg each - they were delighted. Taking a point off because on entering the hotel you have to walk through a group of smokers and because the door on a cubicle in the gents is missing. I note that this was first mentioned in a 2014 review and hope that it has been fixed in the meantime!

This seemed to be the only restaurant open on a beautiful September Sunday in Auchterarder if you exclude the fish and chip shops. Incredible really given that it's a lovely town for tourists to visit. OK, decor-wise, it could do with a refresh and the plastic table cloths were just tacky - what's the point of them? The menu choice was standard pub fare but we opted for the rib-eye steaks and I have to say, they were very tasted, cooked just the way we'd asked. My friend and I were driving up to the Highlands last October, and we found this hotel in Auchterarder, which we decided would be a good place to break our journey. I have visited Auchterarder before to play golf. It is a friendly town and very near Gleneagles, however Auchterarder has it's own golf course, which is stunning and actually it's nest door to Gleneagles, so you are playing on the same terrain. Back to this hotel... We arrived quite late, and a little tired from driving for several hours from London. We were shown lovely rooms, overlooking the high Street. Our room would have accomodated a family of two couples and one other. It's clean, cozy and welcoming. The staff were eager to welcome us as soon as we arrived. The bar area is spacious and lovely, as is the dining room, where we feasted that evening on great pub food. Breakfast was delicious and included "Tatti Scones" which was a lovely touch for us English tourists. I would come here for a week if I was looking for a golfing holiday, as I love the unpretentious quality and the genuine hospitality. The sincerity of the way the staff want to please is worth every penny.

We had two nights B&B in Auchterarder last weekend and had a couple of drinks in the beer garden of this hotel late afternoon on the Friday. As it looked as if there was reasonable 'pub grub' served until 9pm (according to the board outside), we asked if we would have to book a table for later and were informed that a large party was booked for dinner at 7.30, but if we arrived at either 6.30 or 8.30pm there shouldn't be any problem in getting a table for two. We duly arrived around 8.15pm and asked for a table. The bar person said she'd ask the waitress, whose response was that there were no tables free (not the case), and "Anyway, the kitchen's shut for the night"! Some advert for tourism in Scotland! At least the fish supper we then had from local chip shop was lovely!

Poor food but kind servers. The restaurant is decorated with drab and run down furniture stained with food. The food itself is just as old as the furniture, the salad I had was so dried out the cucumbers had developed a dried out skin and the chicken bites were tough rocks of reheated chicken deep fried. Whilst I ate I had the pleasure of an open kitchen or should I say a kitchen with the door left open so I could see kids running around, no hygiene respect here whatsoever.

Customers at the bar cast many unfriendly looks at us as we waited for a table to be prepared. Overall the surroundings in the bar, restaurant and toilets were not very welcoming. The food I was served was poor. Macaroni-cheese was lacking in flavour and sauce. The chips were like they had been reheated from a previous fry, and the salad looked quite limp and lacked a fresh appearance. I was exceptionally hungry and did eat the food, but I will never return to this hotel. Considering the price as well, the meal was very poor value for money. On my departure I had to try to avoid smokers actually standing in the exit doorway.

By far the worst hotel I have stayed in. Evening meal was reheated, breakfast was dipped in grease and quality of rooms was poor. No hot water for shower on first nights stay so switched room for remaining two nights but water pressure was a dribble. Disco until 1am on the final night was the final nail in the coffin. Friendly staff, but in need of demolition, I won't be back.

Stopped in Auchterarder on long journey from the South, terrible wet evening and nothing seemed open. Got good welcome and plain simple very acceptable pub fare...and the dog could come in too. The decor may leave a bit to be desired but we didnt mind on a soaking wet evening!

We spent 3 nights in the smallest hotel room I've ever been in. It was a misery, my husband and I hated having to stay there. We asked for a change, but we're told they were full. This was in the cott
