Arrived mid afternoon to attend an event at the picturedome in the evening. Went into the bar for a drink but waited almost 20 minutes to be served(only one on the bar) understaffed! Food was ok but a tad expensive. Our room was on the top floor, no lifts so no good for disabled people. No windows just a roof light, felt a bit like a prison cell.

This was a gift for my husband’s birthday. The guy who did the “tour “ was really knowledgeable & passionate about how the vineyard started - what they grow , what they’ve tried ,how it’s grown , picked & bottled etc . He kept it really interesting & was funny along the way . The nice weather allowed us to stay in the seated area in the vineyard then we sampled the 3 wines in the winery. We didn’t see the fruit on the vines but his explanation was good enough and the wine was nice . We had pre-booked a table for after the tour . The food was delicious , served promptly & the staff were very polite and friendly. We also enjoyed a bottled of the rosé with our meal.

The room was very small, although clean. The shower was freezing cold, the tv so small I could barely watch it although spent most of the time switching it back on as it kept turning off. The place appeared unstaffed in the morning and when we attended for breakfast we were made to feel an inconvenience because we were the only patrons that day and the chef had to come in just for us. The breakfast though hot was tasteless and more about presentation than filling you up. I complained via email as no staff to talk to re: the shower and tv and to date have had no response. Do not go here it’s not worth the £95 + £25 dog surcharge.

I'm unsure where these other reviewers have been because I can't believe it's the same place I've been going to for the last 7 years... Brooklands Nurseries is the kind of place where you get exactly what you pay for, that is of course if you want a hot, filling meal and friendly staff welcoming you. The views are spectacular, it makes you proud to be in one of the most underrated places in Yorkshire. My favourite and go to meal is the hot chicken and stuffing sandwich and chips. It is genuinely the only cafe I've ever been too which offers this on the menu and it keeps me coming back time and time again. The chicken is always succulent, the gravy thick and tasty and the stuffing is fluffy and seasoned to perfection. If this alone doesn't sell this place to you then hold onto your hats... Not only do they have fantastic proper Yorkshire views but they have created a home for different types of wildlife with the pond and animal enclosures including Swans, Geese, Chickens, Ducks and Wallabies. I've seen people comment that it feels like they're kept in a back garden and maybe that is the vibe as you walk up but surely Chester Zoo and Beaumont Park were someone's back garden once? I feel like with some patience this little haven for these animals can only grow and I personally love being able to feed them and watch them as I eat. Not only this but they offer trail guides to anyone who is a walking/hiking enthusiast, I personally enjoy the walk down to Holmfirth after my meal to go and look at all the fantastic charity shops and scenic views Holmfirth also has to offer. I have been to Brooklands Nurseries on the sunniest, most glorious days and enjoyed sitting outside enjoying the fresh air. I have also been on the wettest, foggiest days and enjoyed the cosy atmosphere inside chatting with the ladies who run the cafe. For anyone who is in the Holmfirth area, I would definitely recommend jumping on the 310 bus up to Scholes and take a walk left along the road from the pub. Stop in and say hello to Brooklands Nurseries and I can guarantee you, you won't be disappointed!

We booked a meal here after reading good reviews and we were not disappointed! The staff could not be more friendly or attentive and the bar/restaurant was so warm and welcoming as we arrived during cold, wet and windy weather. The beautiful old open fire was especially welcome. Everything we had was delicious- good quality home cooked food. We really can’t fault anything at all and will certainly be back. Our only regret was that we couldn’t stay longer as we had to get to an event in Holmfirth. Next time we’ll stay for pudding and a few more drinks too!

Love the Fleece - go regularly for lunch. Food was excellent as always but new front of house man absolutely miserable. Was ignored for almost 5 minutes on entering - no ‘hello’ or ‘I’ll just be a minute’. No smiles, no chat. Staff here have always been exceptional so it was a bit of a shock. Didn’t let him spoil our lunch though.

After a bracing walk around part of Digley Dam this was an ideal stop off to satisfy healthy appetites. It wasn't particularly busy so my friend and I were fortunate to select a table by the window to sample views of the surrounding countryside that the area is famous for. We both chose the regular Fish & Chips, good value at £12 though smaller portions are available at £9.50. My friend's Side Salad cost £4 which I thought expensive for what he received while a side order of Mushy Peas set him back £2. I thought the drinks were expensively priced, £2.90.for a pint of Fanta Orange but we'd visited for the Fish & Chips and these were delicious so it was definitely worth the effort. The menu is quite extensive so there are plenty of alternatives to satisfy most appetites and palates. A good experience.
