Superb meal in this charming restaurant. The proprietors are very experienced in their field and the whole dining experience is how it should be. One of the best meals I’ve had in a very long time. Will definitely return next time I’m in the area. The scallops were the best I’ve ever had.

What a little gem of a cafe. Breakfast service is personal and welcoming. The menu was taylored to my choice and so tasty. Yet to enjoy the evening menu but it always looks so warm and welcome when I drive by in an evening.

Visited last Friday evening after settling into our lodge and after a long drive from home. Staff very friendly. We had not booked but they managed to fit us in. Quite busy. Very good variety on menu and portions big. Great value for money. Starters of Cheese soufflé and deep fried Camembert (off the Christmas specials menu). Main courses - Chicken Parmesan, Chicken Fajitas, Turkey baguette, roast potatoes and gravy. Definitely recommend. Look forward to trying breakfasts next time we come.

We booked the bistro for last Friday 24th Jan 2025 evening aware there would be live music. We had a Lovely meal served fairly promptly, but our only complaint was that the musician was positioned about half way down the restaurant and although she was a good pianist and singer she was far too loud. The bistro was fairly full and other tables ended up competing to hear them selves speak over her music and to be honest my wife and I rushed our meal as we could not wait to get out of the bistro and the din, it gave me a headache and ruined our evening totally. By all means have live music but it should be at an ambient background level allowing people to enjoy the music but also hear themselves without shouting.

The Buck is a large hotel/pub on the way into the village with a nice position by the stream side. From a design and decor perspective it is pretty much the norm for modern pubsand although it seems to target diners as the main market, there is enough space to cater for people who just want a drink. On a Monday evening it was pretty quiet when we were in and the service was pleasant, as were our drinks.
