The G&Tea House in Hambleton

Visited recently after recommended. Plenty of choice on the menu. Staff very attentive. Food was good quality and reasonably priced. Well worth a visit. We will be back.

We had another lovely stay at Angrove Country Park for our anniversary and visited The G&Tea House a couple of nights for dinner and breakfast .Lovely food especially the mussels and chips .Harry is an outstanding member of staff at the G&Tea very attentive looking after all the customers .We will be back .

Vegan afternoon tea wasn't worth the money I paid, my friends received a good afternoon tea with, 3 different cakes, sandwiches, slice of pie, sausage roll, quiche, a cheese scone and a fruit scone. I got cucumber and tomato sandwiches, a dry pitta sliced with hummus, a plain scone and a fruit scone and 3 little squares of the same cake. Very disappointed especially when I had emailed them a week before to say I could bring my own sandwiches etc if they couldn't cater for me and they replied they could do various different cakes and vegan sausage roll and sandwiches. I definitely didn't get value for money compared to my friends. It's not difficult at all to do nice vegan food there's so many good products available, but once again I've encountered a lazy can't be bothered experience,especially after being told they can offer a good selection.

Arrived at 1:00 pm stood behind a wait here to be seated sign . 10 mins later still stood despite the fact I’ve just had knee surgery and was on crutches. Girl seating customers has 2 queues one at back and one at front so can’t keep up with volume. Was told there was a 20 minute wait to order but could order drinks!!!! A different girl came to take drinks order which arrived promptly. 45 mins later after asking to order food and told we would be next our order was taken . Food eventually arrived at 2:25 . I hour 25 mins after our arrival. Something is desperately wrong with this system. An elderly couple after us wanted drinks and scones but were told that the drinks order could be taken but because scones came from kitchen they couldn’t order them they would have to go in a queue to have the order taken!!!! For scones. Can’t the drinks waitress bring cakes/scones out with the drinks??? . Waiting staff are keen to ask if you want another drink . Out of principal we said no . Is this a ploy to get you to order more drinks and keep you waiting for 1 and half hours for food. I would not recommend you come here with children if they are hungry the wait is extortionate and just not worth it. This is a lovely place but the food is above average price and just not worth the ordering fiasco that you have to endure to get it.

Had a lovely visit to G&T house. Very busy waiting time was a hour. We waited and were 12th in the queue to order. Which was fine. The weather was beautiful sat on the terrace. With lovely views. Harry the waiter kept us updated. Very poliet and friendly young man. We ordered drinks and scones which were delicious. The team managed very well working well under pressure . Thank you for great service & good.

Only giving 1 star because the coffee was decent. Ordered eggs royal and it came with the eggs over done (hard yolk), we asked for eggs to be replaced due to this. Food came back out and the eggs were now really under done and soaked in water which they had obviously been pulled out of the pan with so the muffin was soggy and the plate was swimming with water. Due to this would not return.

Greeted by pleasant staff who seated us in the bigger part of the dining area. It was so noisey we asked if we could move, sat next to the bar area, much better. My husband and I both had a cooked breakfast, one large one small. Hubby said it was one of the best breakfasts he’s had. Bit pricey but if it’s only now and then, it’s worth it. Lovely views of the area and the staff were very friendly.

Was seen to promptly by a competent waitress. Who took my order and got it all correct. I was the. Presented with a stale dry bread bun, incinerated bacon, an egg with no yolk and a dried out sausage. The breakfast cost me £15 was a juice and a latte. Latte was perfectly fine. £3 for a bottle of non fresh orange juice is steep. Location is good so it can be forgiven but £15 for a sandwich for one person is steep.!if the quality is right it’s totally fine. Other customers (not the venues fault) had no social awareness and sat down on table next to me with an aggressive dog which went in to bite my dog. I also asked 3 different waitresses for a drink of water for my dog. Two other customers also tried to help with this. They all just explained ‘they’re round there by the plants’ after I’d asked the first two and told the 3rd waitress I’d have liked to have thought somebody would just get me the water I had asked for 15-20mins previous. I then went to pay and the girl who took payment was one from outside who i had asked about water for my dog for. So I said sorry can I just get a drink for my dog as the bowls still weren’t where you told me they would be. Instead of assisting me she turned round and said to her colleague. The dog bowls aren’t where they are meant to be. I’m then said can I just get a drink for my dog. They both looked at each other and offered no form of a solution. So I left the money and walked out and explained I’ll get a drink for my dog quicker elsewhere. Overcooked food, my dogs been bitten. My dog couldn’t get a drink. Overpriced. Awful experience. Never ever again.

This restaurant is surrounded by lovely scenery and has a modern and clean interior. The staff were attentive and food to a high standard. Seen some people say it’s overpriced but you get what you pay for and is definitely worth it. Our only feedback would be some more sauce on the G&T burger and the chips cooked in the salt and pepper seasoning rather than just on the top. Will be back again!

Came here with our children for some lunch. Sat outside, was nice until dogs were jumping up on tables whilst we were eating (owners fault!!!!) Very unhygienic and unpleasant. We ordered 3 kids platters .... £9!!!!!! EACH!!!! Extortionate for what it is! Doesn't even include a drink which is ridiculous!!!! Half a sandwich, a little slice of cake, not even half of a sausage roll and the tiniest scone you could imagine!!!! And £7 for a kids meal AGAIN NO DRINKS INCLUDED!!! ABSOLUTE RIP OFF!!!!!! Not attentive enough when it comes to keeping topped up with drinks either. Over priced for how basic it is.

We come here often and it’s always busy and bustling. Menus is short and concise but every dish excellent. Staff are quick and efficient and very friendly. Locations Lovely and we always sit out when we can. It’s dog friendly in The outdoor area also that helps. Afternoon tea is great with a wonderful selection of teas and cakes but generally we have lunch and always thoroughly enjoy ourselves! Well worth a visit.

We were staying in Great Ayton for a week and this place was recommended by the owners of our holiday home. Having read mixed reviews on here, we weren't sure whether to try or not. So glad we did. We were acknowledged and seated as soon as we arrived, even though we had not booked. Servers were friendly and attentive, offering advice and answering questions about items on the menu. We didn't have to wait long for food and drinks, but we weren't rushed. Will definitely visit again, if we are in the area.

Popped in for lunch. Chaos, not organised, didn’t seem to have a system. people queuing at the door for a seat, this was blocking doorway for people leaving and paying bill. Kitchen seemed overwhelmed, we were told it could be up to an hour for our order to be taken, people were leaving when they were told that Had lunch for four outside , which was a lovely area, nice and clean. With a great play area. The lady who served us was lovely and very friendly Food was ok I had chicken shawarma which was very underwhelming - shredded chicken not very spicy and some of the dish missing I had to ask for and wait whilst my food went cold Ordered a pint of lager shandy - charged £6! Total bill £72!!!

My friends and I were staying at Angrove Country park where this delightful restaurant is located. We were so lucky to have this amazing eatery on our doorstep, to the extent that we didn't need to go anywhere else to eat. The staff were lovely, very friendly and accommodating (going the extra mile to right a list of all the dishes that could be made dairy free for my wife). The food was absolutely delicious, and the menu had good variety. It was some of the best food I've ever eaten, and all my friends were as impressed as I was with the food and service. Our waitress in the evening was Lily I believe, and she was so smiley and had a great sense of positivity about her that is well suited to being in the hospitality business. I would greatly recommend eating here if you're near by or staying in the lodges. We had luch, Dinner and breakfast there, it really is that good.

Came here with family. I've been for breakfast and again for a afternoon tea. The food is nice, the service is good and it is clean. Lovely little place to go to every once in a while.

Wonderful Venue with scenic views. Lovely food served by friendly attentive staff. However the most wonderful bit was the Pod dining, it was a winner. We have very active 18 month old twins so the pod dining was perfect for us. It was clean, very cosy and close to the Children’s playground which is also well built, safe and fun for little ones.

great setting with fantastic views and walks to and from. the food is spot on and sensible prices. all types catered for from coffee to evening meals. the best part of going here are the fantastic staff, all very pleasant and happy to help. Lisa is always very welcoming and so helpful every time we visit. dogs are truly welcome and our black lab jack loves seeing all the staff. great spot so try it. whatever the management are doing with staff training keep it up, they're a credit to the business.

Beautiful end to a perfect holiday! Decided to have breakfast here on checkout , and soo glad we did as if was an amazing breakfast. We had a lovely full cooked and eggs Benedict of which the eggs were done perfect . Staff are friendly and very attentive. Cafe very busy and popular with residents and locals . Visited for my granddaughters birthday, greeted by very pleasant welcoming staff, The menu had good choices for adults and children, all at reasonable prices. The premises has a free 9 hole minature golf course and a play area for children

I have been here various times with friends and have never been disappointed.The setting is beautiful especially in the Summer, and even in the winter there are outside pods with blankets and heating so very cosy.All staff are very friendly and chatty.The food is gorgeous, and always piping hot.would really recommend

Went with friends for lunch. Food is better than average for the cafe that it is: large portions. A slightly different menu and well presented. Friendly staff. Pleasant surroundings and walks nearby.

Just had lunch here - our first visit having had it recommended more than once. We were accompanied by two dogs so we ate outside. The surroundings in keeping with the whole site were very tidy and kept to a high specification. Our simple order of sandwiches and tea were fine and we were aware of tempting alternatives being enjoyed by other customers. The service was pleasant enough but noticeably slow and perhaps clearer signage would have helped in directing us where to sit - we had originally occupied bench seating in the outside bar area, only to be told when trying to order that it was only there for takeaway service and to supervise children in the playground. We will definitely return in the future, now we are more familiar with the layout and procedures when we would expect to aw be able to award 5 stars.

I visited this week with friends and we were really disappointed with our experience. The restaurant was busy but not to capacity with tables available. However, they appeared to be understaffed. Something I’ve experienced here before.I appreciate it’s difficult to gauge how busy the restaurant will be but it was a warm day and therefore likely to be busy. When we arrived we were seated at a table. 15 minutes later a waiter came to take a drinks order. We asked to order food but we’re told we couldn’t as there was a wait. No apology or information about how long the wait was. 45 minutes later, a different waitress came to take our food order. This arrived within 10/15 minutes which was fine. At no point during our meal we’re we checked on and asked if everything was ok. No body came to ask if we’d like anything else which was a shame as we wanted a second round of drinks. When they food was handed to us, we weren’t asked if we’d like anything else. It was simply a matter of plonking it down. I would have raised these issues with staff on the day however when we went to pay, again the server told us how much we owed and that was i. No question if everything had been ok, absolutely nothing. Not even a thanks when we had paid. Complete basics mixed and made it a very disappointing experience and wouldn’t return.

We were recommended to try G&Ts by my niece, what a great find. We were a party of 8 and didn’t make a reservation, however, on arrival all the staff were very welcoming and quickly found us a large table. We were served by Harry who did a great job, he obviously enjoys what he does. All the staff were great and the menu for lunch was perfect we were all able to choose something that we wanted. We ordered drinks and didn’t have long to wait for the food to arrive even although the place was very busy. When the food arrived it was superb, we all really enjoyed the lunch and had a really nice time catching up with family. We didn’t feel rushed and spent a good couple of hours at our table. When we left we took our great nephew to the children’s area where there is lots to do for all the kids including crazy golf. We noticed that here is also several pods that can be booked to eat in as a private party which would be perfect if the weather wasn’t great. We didn’t get to sample the alcohol side of things but did talk with Libby behind the bar and will really look forward to trying the rhubarb gin that she recommended, from the fully stocked Gin bar, on the terrace adjacent to the restaurant, which looked fabulous. All in all we will definitely be returning on our next visit to Great Ayton

First time we have visited, great beer garden, crazy golf, table tennis and a park for little ones. We were greeted at the bar with a BIG smile from the bartender. She was a great help. Explained and help us set up for golf. Even our 4 year old was able to play. The bartender was chatty, polite and very friendly. Taking the time to talk to our son aswell. As he was shy at first. Absolutely wonderful place to visit. I'd like a thank the bartender, her name is Poppy.

Lovely food but only when you can get in, opening hours not catered for onsite customer, far more interested in off site please be aware if you book for a holiday , local co op and take aways took my money when i would have preferred to stay on site

Very picturesque area, lovely food and unique experience, but have given a 3 score for the following reasons. We were a group of 8 for afternoon tea in a pod. I felt that the staff were pleasant but could have been more attentive because we had to let them know when we were ready to be served, that 3 drinks were forgotten so reminded them and then once the food was served there was no more contact from staff not even to ask if everything was ok. We had to go in after waiting a while and ask for the bill which they handed to me on a plate rather than them bring to the table. It just seemed that if your in a Pod that you got forgotten about and when paying £190 for a sitting I'd expect more sevice from staff. One staff member had an abrupt tone at times when I went to ask for things. One of the group who is elderly and disabled, walks slow with a walker found that the shortest path is gravelled so difficult to use unless walking all the way round but we managed ok. The pod is lovely but could do with some music or blue tooth speaker ( we played our own on a phone) and a door screen would help to prevent wasps entering. It was a hot day and we had to close the door at times to stop them flying in so got uncomfortable at times. Other than that, it seems a busy and popular place. I imagine it is a nice place to stay in the lodges. The cafe looks lovely and dog friendly which is a bonus and great play area for kids.

Met up with friends for lunch here and was very impressed. Nice location with activities for kids including miniature golf. We were six adults plus a baby so were sat in a pod outside. There is a good selection of food and drinks with gluten free options available (I'm coeliac) and the waitress had a very good understanding of my requirements. The potions are god and the food excellent.

And 6 sat down to afternoon tea , after a lost booking , an hours delay and the waitress trying to serve us our sandwiches outside while 2 of the group had to sit holding umbrellas over them in the pouring rain . A smile...
