Visited here for some lunch mid-week. After seeing the reviews we had high hopes but we were left a little disappointed when we found that our jacket potatoes were pretty cold- lukewarm at best. The coffee was great though, and we liked that it was dog friendly.

Have discovered this place recently and it is my go to for friends breakfast get together's. Was recommended by a friend for Eggs Benedict which is one of my favourite breakfasts. A few of us now go regularly and have not been disappointed. The owner is lovely and cheerful and staff are very helpful and will always try to accommodate any special dietary likes or needs you have. Prices are reasonable for the setting and type of food served. I shall certainly continue to frequent Stamps and shall highly recommend it to others. Keep up the good standards!

We called in for a cup of tea (ordinary for me and decaf for my friend) which was fine. The cakes and pastries didn’t look to be anything special and certainly didn’t tempt me. However, my friend was feeling peckish so she also had a cookie, which she described as being “okay”, before she succumbed to a blueberry scone with butter and jam which, again, she said was “okay”. This is just a very average cafe and there’s nothing that makes it stand out. I suspect that there’s better to be had locally.

We called here today after walking to Roseberry Topping and discovered this lovely cafe. We had a couple of cappuccinos which were strong and incredibly hot and a couple of carrot cakes which were delicious and probably the best we’ve tasted. Cost was £11.70. The cafe was light and airy with plenty of comfortable seating. The toilet was clean. The staff were very friendly and efficient. What a lovely find which we would absolutely recommend and we would definitely visit again when we are in the area

The taste of the coffee is always a matter of personal opinion, so move on. Not covering the toast to the edge with avocado just smacks of penny pinching. But not getting the poached eggs to table whilst still hot is simply second-rate. The final insult is after paying by card, asking for the printout to be told “we don’t give them out” means this place will not see us again. Perhaps more concentration on the customer would be good?

I ordered a BLT and a pot of tea. The sandwich took a while and I had nearly finished my tea by the time it arrived. I took a bite and realised immediately the bacon rind was not cooked enough, it was far too chewy to eat. I opened the sandwich to peel it off. Looking at the bacon it looked barely cooked and almost raw. I decided to finish my tea and leave the sandwich. I went to pay. I was asked if everything was ok - I replied that the sandwich was unfortunately not ok and I’d had to leave it. The cashier went in to the kitchen for a minute, before returning and saying “why didn’t you think to tell us earlier”. I really don’t like confrontation so I just paid and left. I am at a loss as to why staff need to argue. I clearly hadn’t eaten the sandwich. Good customer service would have saved this experience, but I won’t go back now.

My friend and I went into Stamps today for lunch. We have been there many times and have rarely had a bad meal. Today that changed. We ordered Scampi and chips and Soufflé. Dreadful choices. The chips were pale and dry. The soufflé was only slightly warm and the salad and salad dressing were dire, with bitter pieces of tomatoes, what I believe were spinach leaves and a dreadful dressing. When I went pay, I wasn’t asked how anything was but I told the person serving, and she could see from the food left on my plate, how the food was. She wasn’t bothered at all and took the full amount. Last time we ever go there. To the owner of the restaurant who we have grown to know over a few years, never let that person be in charge again.

Had a lovely lunch of soup and a sandwich for £5.50 and a pot of tea. You have a choice of sandwich fillings in white or brown bread. You can use wi-fi here as well which is handy. There is a single toilet which is accessible to the disabled as well. Everywhere looks clean and tidy and tables are promptly cleared and cleaned when customers leave. You can have hot drinks, cakes, scones etc as well as hot food suitable for small or large appetites. My only disappointment was the fact that the staff did not acknowledge us as we stood at the counter. They were concentrating over an order receipt. I had to ask if we were okay to take a seat as we hadn't been before, I felt like I was interrupting them.I'm sure this was just a one off and I would pop in again when in the area.

Like the American sitcom set in Boston, this Tea shop has many similarities. Great Ayton has 5 venues where you can grab a coffee but this is the best. The staff are mature, experienced and engaging. They make a point of remembering their guests names and thus make them especially welcome. It is licensed too, so if you fancy a glass of wine you can. Due to its popularity it can get busy so if your ordering food, best to be patient. So, in summary, a lovely coffee shop for breakfast lunch or just tea and a cake.

I went in here to grab a takeaway latte. I live overseas and aren't carrying much money because I won't spent it. I was told I couldn't use my phone to pay because it was under five pounds (their rule). I was told where the nearest cash machine was. I explained I wasn't planning to go get currency because the rest of it would be wasted. I said this as I reached for my wallet to see if I had enough. A second lady shook her head and muttered "rude". I asked if she thought I was rude and she said "yeah. I think you are a bit. yeah." So I decided they could keep the money (by now I had fished enough out of my wallet to pay for it). I just couldn't stay there. I understand their rule, I was doing my best to work around it and use cash. I explained why I didn't want to go to a cash point. When I was working in the service industry, you bent over backwards to help a customer. Not treat them like this.

I had a skinny cappuccino which would have been lovely if they didn't sprinkle chocolate all over the top, most places do ask if you want it or not, my mistake. We also shared a slice of lemon drizzle as it's our favourite cake. For some reason or other it was freezing cold, it actually hurt my teeth as I bit into it. It was also very solid and chewy. Definitely not the lemon drizzle it should be, soft and melt in your mouth and lemony is how it should be. We won't be going back as very disappointed in coffee and cake. Never had a meal there as I live close by but often stop by for a coffee. Here is one of the few places locally where you'll get a gluten free scone and they're very good. The staff are very pleasant and the place is well patronised with a relaxed atmosphere. Light meals appear to be on the menu.

My husband and I were in Great Ayton so we decided to visit Stamps again and we weren't disappointed, we both had a bacon and egg ciabatta and a latte each. It was lovely and hot and very tasty and it was nice that the brown sauce came in individual little pots and not just a few sachets on the side of the plate. Very friendly service.

We have called in here twice now and you always receive great service, great food and a lovely place. Always spotless, the tables are cleared as soon as someone leaves, floors always cleaned and the cakes are delicious, not tried anything else but it all looks good. A little prices but I don't mind paying extra for good quality products.

Been inside here before and it was lovely so with it being a nice day decided to go back, with the addition of my dog. Asked if there was outside seating and told yes, but it needed unlocking. Went through a side alley cluttered with stacked outside seating chairs and tables. Thought that through the next door would be a grassed courtyard with flower tubs etc but all the outside seating area was a continuation of the concrete alleyway. If there was a party of 4 it would be a struggle to all fit round the table. The coffee was lovely but I wasn't too sure about the chocolate and beetroot (!) cake.

Me & my mum stopped here for lunch and were blown away by the friendliness of the staff especially one lady I'm not sure if she is the owner/manager but she was so lovely! Our food was delicious, I'd asked for a change to be made to my toasted sandwich when I ordered due to a food intolerance which I was assured wasn't a problem as everything was made fresh. I also took home some cakes which got rave reviews from my family, I love when you can see that people are genuine and the staff here 100% are! Can't wait to go back!

What a little gem of a cafe. Breakfast service is personal and welcoming. The menu was taylored to my choice and so tasty. Yet to enjoy the evening menu but it always looks so warm and welcome when I drive by in an evening.

Owen hosted our wedding reception. Lovely family do (7 bridesmaids and 3 pageboys between 5 and 10) with an outside BBQ. Happy for us to put up a bouncy castle. Really relaxed feel. We put up gazebos in case it rained so we could cover an outside area to seat 48. We had a band inside later. Room to dance. Couldn’t have asked for more.

A cut above your normal Sunday pub lunch. Excellent presentation and really tasty. Not the normal boiled veg. Very good.

Gorgeous little spot and great local cheese and tea and scones and chutney. Friendly staff too, who chatted with us for a while. They gave us free apples as well.
