Superb meal in this charming restaurant. The proprietors are very experienced in their field and the whole dining experience is how it should be. One of the best meals I’ve had in a very long time. Will definitely return next time I’m in the area. The scallops were the best I’ve ever had.

What a little gem of a cafe. Breakfast service is personal and welcoming. The menu was taylored to my choice and so tasty. Yet to enjoy the evening menu but it always looks so warm and welcome when I drive by in an evening.

Had a very bland garden platter.. Chicken shwarma is not what it says.. Seafood platter not presented well and runny seafood sauce, mackerel is mixed with mayo Overall very disappointing, the staff are lovely...I started to complain about the meal when paying and they thought I was joking 😕.. didn't bother saying ALL the bad points about it. Manager didn't even bother to come over

Stopped off for a few drinks here on a sunny Saturday afternoon. Quite busy as weddings on and big groups celebrating also but plenty of outside space to enjoy the sunshine. Service under pressure due to numbers in attendance so all forgiven there. Plenty of parking spaces and lovely venue. Great point of Guinness. Outdoor pizza oven also.

The Royal Oak is the heart of the village and has a real homely community feeling. The staff are friendly but Wendy and Jackie are particularly welcoming and go above and beyond. For the 3 days we were there both could not have done more and you can tell they both still love working there and are clearly a big part of the place. The village is lovely and we enjoyed the surrounding area including Guisborough which has a wonderful bar called Badgers serving excellent food. Roseberry topping is a few minutes drive and parking was easy if you arrive before 10.30am. We were impressed overall and really glad we stayed at the Royal Oak in Great Ayton.
