I had the pleasure of visiting The Shrewsbury Arms recently, and I have to say that Maddie really made the experience special. While Kay and Emma were away, Maddie stepped in to run the pub, and she did an absolutely fantastic job! The atmosphere was incredibly relaxed — perfect for winding down after a long day. Maddie has a way of making everyone feel right at home, with her laid-back approach and friendly demeanor. Whether you're popping in for a quiet pint or enjoying a meal with friends, she creates the ideal environment for just kicking back and enjoying the moment. The pub itself is charming, with a cozy vibe and a great selection of local beers. Maddie was also very attentive, making sure all the guests were well taken care of, even when the place was buzzing with energy. All in all, a perfect pub experience! Maddie really holds the place together. Highly recommend if you're looking for great food, drinks, and a chilled-out vibe. Well done, Maddie!

If you have never eaten at the Dog and Partridge then you really have missed out on lovely food and fantastic service. Six of us met up on Saturday night for a birthday celebration. The bar was full of locals watching the football and the rugby, but as our table was in a cosy room at the far end of the building we didn't hear a thing apart from when Wolves scored! It's a good idea to have a look at the menu online before you go as there are so many choices, and options within those choices. If you can't find anything on this menu that takes your fancy then you are impossible to please. We enjoyed and can recommend the minty lamb pie, braised brisket, hunters chicken and giant filled Yorkshire pud. Generous portions and all delicious. Desserts of ice creams, lemon cheesecake, syrup sponge and chocolate orange cake were also really tasty and thoroughly enjoyed. Our server for the evening was Laura and she deserves an extra-special mention. This is a lady who radiates first-rate customer service. Efficient, smiley, witty and caring; she is a gem. Our thanks also to Becky, one of the lovely staff, who baked a superb birthday cake for us and visited our table to ensure all was well. If you are looking for great food at a reasonable price, plenty of choice at the bar and top notch customer service, then look no further than this wonderful venue.

I booked the Moatshed for a surprise 80th birthday party for my mum. We had just over 50 guests and I would say this was a perfect number for the venue. I was given a wide choice of items to create an afternoon tea menu, along with access in the morning to put up decorations. Nothing was too much trouble for the team, even when we had people drop out at the last minute - we were even given one guest's full selection of vegetarian afternoon tea to take home for her, along with a large 'doggy bag of leftovers. They catered for various dietary requirements, including vegan and gluten free, with no problems at all. I cannot praise them all enough - all the staff were a joy to deal, the venue was spotless and we were really looked after.

We went here for my wife's birthday and experienced their tasting menu for lunch. From the second we arrived it was obvious that the focus here was on service. Such a warm welcome and a nice relaxing setting. Food was incredible throughout, there were two bits we weren't huge fans of, but this is part of a tasting menu, you're not going to love everything, all bar a couple of bits were exceptional though. And even those that weren't to our taste, just weren't to our taste, still presented exceptionally. Service throughout was exceptional, everyone was warm and welcoming and happy to take time to talk through selections. The fab thing is how they use almost every aspect of the food they're preparing and extract so much from it. It was a wonderful birthday experience and we're looking to come back in June for our anniversary. Cannot recommend this enough, you will not be disappointed

Very nice coffee shop. Few seats inside and lovely outside seating areas. There was 3 of us we all had scones with jam and butter and a latte. The scones were warmed up and were very nice. The lattes we asked for 1 shot and they were just right and nice and hot. The service was really good and the staff friendly

I visited this cafe today for a coffee and sausage bap, £9.35. I paid with a ten pound note and got no change. My coffee was delivered, followed later by my bap. I then questioned the price with waitress and said that I hadn't received my change. She came back saying 'Heaven forbid I forgot your 65 pence'. Not that this was a real issue, but whether she thought it was her way of a joke came over as being sarcastic. The coffee was average at best and the sausage bap, less so. Typical microwave food, so hot it was tasteless with no colour to look that it was cooked. Given the price, poor service, tasteless food and additional cost to park they won't get my custom again. I'd rather use the cafe opposite who know how to treat customers how they like to be treated!
