Duck Goose in Staffordshire Moorlands

We went for Sunday Lunch. Everything was wonderful apart from the pathetic amount of beef we received on our Roast Beef Dinner. My wife asked how they actually manage to cut it so thin. Two tiny pieces. Shame, everything else was spot on

Lovely bistro. Service friendly and attentive. Definitely worth pre-booking as always very busy. Food menu was tasty and varied and offered a range of locally sourced options. Well-stocked bar too!

We'd booked a table, it was a Saturday night and quite busy. Food was good and there was a good range of drinks choices. Prices were as expected. Free street and car parks close by in the evening.

The food was amazing and something for everyone. The downstairs room is decorated to a really high standard and feels like you are in a speak easy! The servers were fantastic, an asset to Duck Goose. Book well in advance

It says a lot about this fantastic restaurant that out of the six meals out on our holiday, three were here. Fish and chips and a burger for lunch on Saturday, roast beef on Sunday (smoked cheese broccoli an exceptional side dish) and the steak night special on the Thursday before we had to go home. The quality of the food was brilliant at the start and just got better and better with every visit! The steak was the best I've had at a restaurant, the truffle and Parmesan fries are a unique delight. If you are what you eat, my husband is sticky toffee pudding - he had it all three times!!. I had the delice too, a lovely balance of rich dark chocolate and tangy raspberry sorbet. I was lucky enough to book on the strength of the reviews for our first two meals and the third the night before. It is small but busy so booking is almost essential. Highly recommended. Despite having great eateries near home, I wish you were in Norfolk!

Nice restaurant but value for money was very disappointing. 1 piece of pork was served and my wife had 1 slice of beef. The food was beautiful cooked but expensive

The sourdough sandwiches were delicious and would highly recommend. Service was slightly slow, but they were worth the wait!

A really wonderful little bistro, with a great atmosphere and delicious food. I ordered the vegetarian Sunday lunch here, and the attention to detail along with the flavours really impressed. My family and my girlfriend also commented that the food was exceptional. The service was also very friendly and quick. I'm happy to have discovered another gem of Leek. Highly recommended.

My friend and I visited the Duck Goose Bistro on Sunday 1 September and we had the most amazing Sunday Lunch, cooked to perfection and everything was totally delicious. I would highly recommend this bistro, wonderful service, warm and cosy atmosphere, I just cannot praise them enough. Dining alone can be a depressing experience, but the friendliness and general cheery ambience of Duck Goose soon dispelled my worries. The food was uniformly excellent, beginning with charcuterie and warm sourdough (with a side order of decent hummus), followed by Tuna Nicoise with crispy poached egg (as good as it sounds) and finishing off with a dark chocolate, raspberry and crumble concoction. All this was washed down by a restaurant rarity, a bottle of reasonably priced Californian Chardonnay. I'll be back!

Another great visit. This is the second time we have been for Sunday lunch here and it did not disappoint. The food was plentiful and delicious, I especially love the crispy kale. The caramel old fashioned is also delicious. The staff are friendly and if you can, I’d recommend eating downstairs as I found the decor and general vibe much more relaxing than upstairs, it almost looks like an old fashioned speakeasy! The only small gripe I have is the beef on the roast was a very small portion, only two paper thin slices. However, not an issue, as I’d definitely recommend the lamb, pork or chicken.

Excellent food and waiting staff were excellent, but we did wait 45mins for our starter to arrive, otherwise we couldn’t fault it. The sticky toffee pudding dessert was the best we’ve ever had, delicious!

We’ve visited a handful of times and each time it has been fantastic. If you aren’t having sticky toffee pudding for your dessert, you’re missing out! The mushy peas and tartare sauce that comes with the fish and chips was very tasty!

Just called in for a sandwich at lunchtime, beef on soutdoughwith salad and a side of chip, I really enjoyed it and will definitely be going again

Probably the best fish finger sandwich I've ever had. If you're contemplating a Wetherspoons lunch, walk round the corner and go here instead.

Wow! This is perfection - it’s as simple as that! I’ve been three times now and the food and service are exceptional.

Heard plenty of reviews about this restaurant, so I decided to give it a try. I was definitely not disappointed. The decor is wonderful, and the staff very attentive to your needs. The ambience is delightful. As for the food, just wow, 10/10. So started with a sharing platter of breads, cooked to perfection. For the mains, after a wonderful choice, decided to get the fish and chips. The fish was cooked to absolute perfection. Crispy batter on the outside and light and fluffy in the middle. The Chips cooked just how I like them, just delightful. Finished with a cheesecake. I am not normally a cheesecake kind of person. However, amazing, just amazing. Would I recommend this restaurant, yes, absolutely. Will I be returning, oh yes. The best meal I have had for a while.

My husband and I ate here at the beginning of June - we were visiting Leek and the surrounding area on holiday and it was our wedding anniversary the following the day. It was also during the cold spell we had in June. We have a wonderful meal, some of the best steaks we had had in a very long time, truffle and parmesan fries to die for, with a local red wine that was gorgoeus. The service was great and we would thoroughly recommend it to locals and visitors alike - it was obviously a popular restaurant already. Thank you for a wonderful meal and lovely and warm atmosphere! Came in at the weekend with a group of friends , place is nicely decorated to food taste but the food was a let down , the burger was dry and sticky toffee was tiny not value for money , it’s not the worst but not the best

A really lovely evening out! We went for a child free meal out as a treat and had a fabulous time at Duck Goose. The service was great, really friendly bunch of staff, the place had a really cosy atmosphere and the food was to die for. Absolutely loved it all, and we’ve booked to go back again for Father’s Day as I’m desperate to try their Sunday roast offering 😍

Sunday low key baby shower. Food delicious,service lovely. Sat downstairs very atmospheric but not for people with limited mobility and quite dark. Surcharge for bringing our own desserts eg baby cake and cup cakes.

Duck Goose offers a cosy dining experience downstairs with moody lighting and mismatched furniture. The food is well styled, utterly delicious and locally sourced. This is perfect for a special occasion and is hands down my favourite restaurant in Leek. I take people anytime anyone visits. Highly recommend!!

Excellent service and excellent food

Four ladies booked for our Christmas party. Lovely venue, good ambience, good food. I chose the fish, chunky chips and mushy peas, it was excellent, tasty fish, light crispy batter, beautiful chunky chips. Followed by sticky toffee Christmas pudding with pistachio ice cream, amazingly light and tasty. The staff were friendly and efficient but lacked awareness of the clientele, for example one of our group wanted salt and pepper but failed to catch the attention of the staff, 4 of whom were behind the bar, eventually she got up from our table and went to the bar to request these items. Unfortunately I faced the same fate when needing tartare sauce, which incidentally was delicious, keeping an eye on the customers should be prerequisite to the job, more attention needed sorry. However we all enjoyed our meal and the party was a success, we will definitely go again. Thank you.

First time we went for tea last week and was amazed by what Jessica has achieved there, the food is so well prepared and presented by the whole team, excellent staff looked after us while there. Popped in for a light lunch on a rainy day. Good options - gourmet sandwiches through to proper hearty fare. Fish finger sandwich was great - homemade and battered with excellent chips. Extensive cocktail list. Lovely ambience and decor, with soft lighting and not too many tables - friendly family run place that deserves to do well.

This was the first time I’d been to Duck Goose and I was seriously impressed.The service was first class.Small things like noticing your candle had just burnt out and it was replaced within 30 seconds.Cutlery that wasn’t quite right noticed and sorted out without me even realising it wasn’t correct.The staff were amazing, really friendly and knowledgable. The food was outstanding, I had the T bone and it was perfectly cooked and tasted amazing, something to do with being cooked over charcoal.This place is seriously good. Check out the cellar it looks fab. I want to sit downstairs next time. Easily the best meal I’ve had in years.

This must be the 5th or 6th time at Duck Goose and it’s quickly becoming my favourite restaurant in Staffordshire. I took my Dad for his birthday he can be a bit particular, but he was made to feel so welcome and our host couldn’t have done more to help him through the menu without being patronising and having a laugh with him, she really made his experience special. Duck Goose is a Bistro at its heart and soul and that’s what resonates from the second you walk in to the second you walk out. The menu is the perfect size and it features more approachable dishes and some really exciting seasonal options. If you think any of the options are mundane, (fish and chips, burger, steak) give them a go and I promise you’ll certainly be shocked at the quality and flare to every element. But the best part of this little place is the service. Our host was outstanding again and again. I can’t wait for my next visit, thanks again 👍

Booked for a birthday meal for my wife. Lovely and attentive service, great food and a pleasant atmosphere. Lots of great menu options and nice to see locally sourced food. We were 'all in' with 3 courses and wine and felt we had great value. We will return.

Food extremely good. Wonderful meal There were 6 of us so the restaurant added over £30 automatically to our bill as a service charge. As 3 couples we paid 3 equal amounts by credit card which was £2 short of the total. The front of house manager came over quite rudely pointing out the tip they had imposed on us was short although one of our party had already put £5 extra cash on the table. This attitude really put us all off from going again.

My husband and I ate here last night while spending a couple of nights in Leek. We were made to feel very welcome , the staff were very attentive and looked after us all night. I had the t bone steak which was amazing. The room was very quaint and beautifully decorated. All in all a really lovely experience. Highly recommend. Thankyou for a lovely evening

Flavours was powerful and the service was lovely. Would be nice for more vegetarian main options for my partner but the risotto was delicious.

Birthday treat and perhaps one of the best Sunday lunches I’ve had. We opted for the beef and our lovely waitress was very clear on how we could have this served eg well done or med/rare. We both opted for the medium rare and it was perfect. Very tender and a good amount of beef. Veg in plentiful, perfect roast potatoes, smoked cauliflower cheese and a perfect homemade Yorkshire pudding, complimentary gravy was well received. Our dessert was sticky toffee pudding with ice cream, this was divine and came with plenty of warm toffee sauce. Heaven! Lovely atmosphere, very friendly staff and two happy and full to the brim mum & daughter. Highly recommend and will be back.

Perfect pitstop after a explore around Lud’s Church. Treated my partner to the Sunday 3 course meal for his birthday after finding the place with already amazing reviews. Everything from the decor to the service was amazing. The food was unreal & we left with very full bellies. My partner also really was enjoying the playlist - some great songs on there. We will be back when we next visit Leek!

Exceptional food, great service, really lovely staff and environment

We had an amazing experience eating at the Duck Goose for our casual wedding reception of 11 people. We had exclusive use of the The Burrow, where we enjoyed an intimate 3 course meal and drinks. We spoke with Jessica via email on the lead up to the meal who was very responsive and helpful when we had any questions. Everything was organised perfectly! The service was incredible, and they could not do enough for us. We had champagne on arrival and the food came out quickly and exactly to order. The food was delicious, even for a large table, everything was fresh and cooked to perfection! Thank you to everyone at the Duck Goose for making our day so special and we recommend to anyone wanting to visit with a large party to get in contact and get booked in you won’t be disappointed! We can’t wait to visit again!!

Came for dinner with my best friend and 2 year old daughter. The food was beyond phenomenal, by far the best restaurant in Leek and surrounding area. The trout tartare was exceptional. The pork schnitzel and flank steak were also beyond amazing. Sticky toffee pudding was excellent. Ambiance was fantastic. I cannot fault any part of my meal or evening. I will certainly be back. Thank you for the amazing meal and upscale dining experience that is severely lacking in this area.

This was our 2nd visit and it was just as good as the 1st visit with lovely food and service ,Everything is beautifully presented and very scrumptious,The only negative I will say is I think for the price the charcuterie plate on the starters was very expensive for 6-8 wafer slices of meat a few olives and chutney and 1small slice of sourdough ,This wouldn’t put us off returning and keep up the good work Jessica

Value for money. It is amazing and my first choice for every special occasion right through to a simple weekend treat.
