Peak Weavers was a real find. Lovely hotel in a bustling market town. Nick and Emma went out of their way to ensure our stay was a success - Nick is a mine of information about the locale and tbe best walks in the area. We shall definitely come back.

Had a wonderful few nights away at Peak Weavers for my husband’s birthday. Great hotel offering an excellent breakfast and Nick and Emma extremely accommodating and friendly. Nick has a wealth of knowledge about the local area and went on a fantastic walk in The Roaches following his recommended route. We will definitely be revisiting this locatio. and hotel soon.

Very comfortable, clean single room. There was plenty of room for one person. Best of all, it was very quiet, and the good curtains made it quite dark. I slept very well indeed. The breakfast was perfectly cooked, quality ingredients. Friendly people. Ideal location 5 minutes walk from town centre. Plenty of parking. Good value and much nicer than a large hotel. I will definitely return.

Billed as a four-star B&B, we were left rather disappointed. Our room was on the third floor, and the second staircase was very steep and narrow. The room itself had only 2 power sockets, one had the TV plugged in, and the other a kettle. We were constantly switching these out with other appliances (chargers / hair dryer etc). The armchair and carpet were rather grubby, and pillows lumpy. The bathroom had areas of mould around the bath, and very cheap loo roll. The building itself was the old convent, so this would explain the quirky layout. On the plus side, the tv was large, Wi-Fi was good, and location was great for access to the town. The hosts were friendly and helpful, and breakfast was OK.

We stayed at Peak Weavers as a base for Alton Towers, which was perfect as it is a short drive to the park. The hotel is in a quiet area of Leek, a short walk to the high street. The hosts were lovely and had plenty of suggestions for local attractions. The breakfast which was included in our room rate was very tasty and exceeded our expectations. There were continental options as well as a full english or salmon with scrambled eggs. Our room was cozy and there was plenty of space.

My partner and I stayed due to a wedding near by. They where accommodating and let us check in early to get ready. The rooms where lovely and had enviro friendly products. No tv remote for the room but that’s not the end of the world just means you need to keep getting up and we didn’t get a chance to try breakfast as was too late. I did try to find the breakfast times but they aren’t in the rooms guide- maybe worth adding. However the owner did kindly offer us toast. Lovely place and friendly staff would recommend staying.

We visited whilst it was frosty outside and found the dining room to be cold as it was large and the ceiling was high despite dressing warmly. The service was slow as a large party who were obviously repeat guests were there at the same time and we got the impression that the chef was on her own. We had the venison which was cooked well and the sauce was lovely. We didn't stay for dessert due to the slow service and feeling cold. The bill was around £70 despite only only having a drink each so we decided this was going to be a once in a blue moon type treat.

A secret place with a lovely quiet dining room where you are served by young polite waitresses. The owner operates the bar and provides a great wine list which he recommends with knowledge and enthusiasm. The meal was superbly cooked and everything we asked for was delivered in nanoseconds. Such a great experience we booked again for a wine tasting evening. Given our experience on a casual booking, we really look forward to that evening.

This is the second time my partner and I have dined at Peak Weavers and on both occasions the ambience, food and service have been exemplary. The menu choices are incredible, so varied in ingredients and composition that you could easily dine here on three consecutive evenings and be fulfilled on each visit. The wine list compliments the the wonderful range of dishes on the menu without it being overly extensive or expensive. A visit to Peak Weavers really is an experience that no other in Leek or surrounding areas can compete with. It really is better than all the rest!!

I have been fortunate enough to eat at this superb restaurant on a couple of occasions and it is outstanding. It is the only fine dining establishment in Leek and is in a league of it's own. The restaurant itself is elegant and comfortable with tasteful decor and the food is quite simply exquisite. The wine list is excellent and is certainly not over priced, like many fine dining venues often are. Fronted by owner Nick, a warm and friendly welcome greets you with excellent service too. His wife Emma is chef and, my goodness, she is fabulous. I would strongly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a premier class dinner in Leek.

This was our annual Christmas visit and yet again it was excellent. The food, atmosphere and service were top notch making it an event to remember. As usual we had problems deciding what to have as the choices are so good. For the main course we chose the belly pork, steak and guinea fowl and they were all superb. Starters and desserts were all equally good. Can’t wait for next Christmas, although hopefully we’ll be back well before then. If you want somewhere special to go for a Christmas meal Peak Weavers is the best place we know. Unlike some places where the meals at Christmas are poor, basically mass catering, and expensive with poor service, Peak Weavers is special and no more expensive and still top quality.

We very much enjoyed the single sitting policy where you can spend the whole evening relaxed and not feeling you will be moved on. We also loved the use of local, seasonal ingredients and this combined with the passion of the chef / owners gives a great quality experience. The young waiting staff were excellent - well-trained, unobtrusive, friendly. The menu was small but wide enough to give a pleasing range of options. We both started with the beetroot and feta salad which was lovely - caramelised beetroots slices with cheese & hazelnuts - all delicious & just an elegant sufficiency. Hubby had the celeriac and sweet potato lasagne which he declared "yummy" & I had the pork tenderloin with rhubarb & cabbage - the veggies were delightfully al dente & I have a particular soft spot for red cabbage, so that was a winner! The rhubarb was lovely with the pork - have to try that at home. We had been spotting the other desserts as they came through so hubby picked the berry sponge with raspberry ripple ice cream & I had the double chocolate mousse cake with salted caramel ice cream - both were well balanced, not over-facing & tasted delicious - the salted caramel ice cream was particularly good & not too salted. Overall an excellent evening and very reasonable for three courses of such lovely food - many thanks & keep up the great work

To celebrate our wedding anniversary we decided to try the Peak Weavers having read so many good reviews and newspaper articles. Wow!!! I never expected this in Leek A very warm welcome and lounge area to review the menu, not a huge choice but more than enough mouthwatering dishes to prepare you while enjoying a pre dinner drink. the dinning room is formal but at the same time relaxing and casual. table service was efficient and polite. for starters I had Hot smoked salmon with beetroot, potato salad and water cress, superb flavors, with a glass of Val De Garrigue, Cotes Du Rhone, very good. My wife and fiends starters were equally good. For main I choose the duck breast, which may have had 30 seconds longer skin down but did not matter, My wife a most perfect rare stake our friends stake and Sea Bass, all excellent accompanied by H3 Cabernet Sauvignon, again excellent, the evening finished with cheese and biscuits with port, and a final digestive whisky. At around £50 per head this is great value, We most defiantly will be back, Thank you Peak Weavers

My first course was a smoked salmon with beetroot, potato salad and water cress which cost £6.95. A small plate but a taster of what was to come. This was accompanied by a Pouilly Fume, nicely chilled. This was followed by a tenderloin of pork wrapped in bacon, served with roast potatoes, green beans and buttered carrots, served on rhubarb and cider brandy sauce which offered the acid to cut through to the palate. This amounted to £14.95. We chose the Bulgarian red wine as we thought it was an unusual selection for an accompaniment and it did not disappoint. My dessert was a home made blackberry and apple crumble served with home made vanilla ice cream. Americano coffee and a Cognac V.S.O.P. to finish. Note that there is a good selection of whisky to choose from. A popular choice for wedding receptions. Note that there are 3 steps into the dining room if you are wheel chair bound.

I have been coming to Leek to see the in laws for 25 years. Always slightly disappointed that I haven't found a good formalish restaurant. This is a gem. I had been to see this place looking for wedding accom some 20 years ago when it was a bit run down, tired etc. What a great surprise to see the change. The welcome was warm, the bar area and restaurant were smart but not overly formal. The food was fabulous. The menu was not overly extensive with about 8 choices for starters and 8 for main. Deserts about 6. All were really well executed and really tasty. Mains included fish and meat. I had venison, the others had equally top notch food. The host was excellent and his staff young keen and well drilled. Wine selection was good and not too expensive at the top end. We chose NZ Sauvignon Blanc at £26 and Lebanese Excellent Red at £28. I think those were the prices. I think the prices overall were pretty good for an excellent high end dinner but I do spend loads of my time around London. I am really glad to have visited, will come again when in Leek and will recommend to others. At the moment only open on Thursday, Fri, Sat and special occasions. Absolutely fabulous! Thanks for a wonderful evening.

Although living less than ten miles away from Peak Weavers, I had never heard of it until some friends suggested we spent an evening there. The restaurant is almost hidden on a side street in Leek, Staffordshire. Once inside, one becomes aware that the owners have given the former detached town house charm and elegance.Dining is intimate and given a sense of privilege owing to the restricted number who can dine at one time. The food was beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. My one criticism is that because we were a party of nine, side dishes appeared to be confused with little help from the waiters. No one appeared to know how many we should have but my wife felt we had not had the correct number.Next time we visit, I shall put this right, and there will be a next time as the experience was highly memorable.

When booking a table at the Peak Weavers, it's for the evening, so there is no feeling of being rushed. This is a family run establishment and it shows. The courtesy and level of service singles it out as such. The menu changes from time to time, so one could easily sample a variety of dishes and flavours. Our experience on the night in question was excellent, with each course being served courteously and certainly worth the short wait. The food we have had here over the years has always been of an extremely high quality. The restaurant was shut for a period a few years ago, and we hadn't been there for quite a while. However, we recently booked a table and were certainly not let down by the standard of the cuisine. As usual the staff were attentive but not over eager. On the downside, it is a little pricey but you get what you pay for. I don't normally order steak when I eat out due to the lack of quality of the raw material, but no such worries here! A fine piece of meat cooked to a t. Congratulations Peak Weavers you are still the best place to eat in not only Leek, but for quite some distance.

We have been three times this year, and usually go with family for a get together, and in the past it has been fine for food and service every time, this time, the food was as always, very good, thanks to the chef. However the service was not up to past levels, during a conversation about a loved one in a care home, a very young voice intervened " can I take any glasses". Well to be fair we had red and white wine on the table, but had only been given glasses for white but none for red, so an unused water glass was given up to comply. We rightly or wrongly put this down to the very young and possibly inexperienced waiters. This could also be the cause of us being served with next to cold coffee. A replacement coffee was supplied, and then a weak "sorry about that ". from front of house. Towards the end of the evening the menu invited us to enjoy a dessert wine with the very tasty food on offer, we ordered a muscadet from the menu, we looked forward to this with what was to be, as always, a very good dessert, sadly we were then told that the last of this wine had been served the night before, a Friday, on inquiry the delivery is on a Thursday, so by any business planning/ lead times, a weeks supply had been used up in one day of business. The reason given for the lack of this wine, while still on the menu, was that front of house " didn't want to drag them over just for one bottle". We assume that this would be the status for any one requiring said wine until the next Thursday. If it it too much trouble to obtain a bottle of dessert wine of this type locally to comply with a given menu, which is a description of what is on offer to your customers, then so be it. For the food very good, for past service good, this time, lack of care, could do better.Do we have to look for another venue? Who knows?

An unexpected treasure, in a little side street in Leek, unassuming service, beautiful meal, wide choice of beautifully prepared, fresh and gloriously delicious food. It was an absolute pleasure to have our quiet family celebration here, the other guests were equally absorbed in having a lovely evening with each other, we were sad the evening came to an end, it was such a treat and a rare find.

An ex-convent, tucked away up a non-descript looking side street, this place is fabulous. Beautiful food, quiet, refined, really attentive staff, loved it...

Peak Weavers is a restaurant that stands out as one of the best. It is always a treat to go as the food is always of the highest quality alway has a little bit of a diffrent twist on English food at it's best. The service is alway first class and the restaurant is classic in style there is alway a good choice of wine to match the food and the desserts are to die for on my last visit with a party of 10 friends everyone was more than pleased with the quality of everything this was fine dinning at it's best.

We visited the Peak Weavers for a day late Valentine's meal. It was our first ever visit despite living locally for over 20 years. Having been advised of the standard of the food and the relaxed calmness of the dining room, we were anticipating a great experience, but nothing prepared us for just how good it was. The quality, the ingenious flavour combinations and the presentation of the food was better than anything we have experienced in many a year. The service was excellent and friendly rather than over formal. The dining room was full, but due to a decent amount of space between the tables and the subdued lighting, it did not feel crowded. The menu gave ample choice and indeed it was very hard to choose. To be really selfish, we especially enjoyed it because there were no large loud parties and no uncontrolled children out long past their bedtime!

Not sure where Phil H was eating, the food looked fabulous and tasted even better. We had a fabulous evening - everything was cooked to perfection, I was particularly taken by the duck, the steak, and the gorgeous Passion Fruit Parfait.Service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive, and my only complaint was that I couldn't eat more of their wonderful, wonderful food! Highly recommended.

9 of us went here for our late "Christmas" works do in February. The owner opened the restaurant for us as it's not usually open on Wednesday nights. The room was lovely and the food very good. The service was excellent. Would recommend Peak Weavers for a special family get-together.

We ate here on Saturday evening.Great choice on the menu, local produce being used where possible. Everything we ordered was presented, cooked, and tasted perfect. There was fresh homemade bread as well while you waited for starters. The wine list is very good, and priced well for a resaturant. The staff are courteous, knowledgeable and friendly, that goes for the proprietor too.The location is very close to the centre of town, yet you could be anywhere once inside, it's a little tucked away gem in the heart of Leek town centre, nice garden etc to the front aspect. There is parking too.The level of expertise on show with the menu, the combination of flavours and use of good local produce, and it's execution is second to none. This is without doubt the best restaurant in this town, alas it's only open for limited periods, but that adds to the charm somewhat, it feels exclusive and hidden. I review this in hope that you go and eat there, but not at the expense of me being able to get a table when I want one!Highly recommended for anyone that has any taste.

Dinner was served looking sparce and unappetizing, and the duck was so tough it was inedible, complained to the owner/manager and was told it was cooked ok and they would not change it. Owner was then pretty surly to us for rest of evening and after refused any allowance off the bill.

I had forgotten about Thornbury Hall but very glad to rediscover it. Excellent food with some menu items that weren't just the run of the mill Indian restaurant standards. Very good service and a warm welcome. We will return soon!

What a lovely surprise this turned out to be. The staff greeted us warmly, the Bistro had a lovely calming ambiance and the food was freshly made on the premises. We had a very pleasant few hours and will definitely return to enjoy the other delights on the menu, at very reasonable prices. Fish and chips Friday is first on our hit list!!
