Last night the Rotary Club held our meeting here. The landlady Sue cooked a wholesome supper of chilli and a lobby. There was plenty to go round, we left warm and full. Thanks to Sue and Steve for a fab pub.

Sadly this pub does not provide food (meals) nor do they permit dogs inside. Their choice of course, mine is to spend my money elsewhere.

Very disappointed to find that this pub is not dog friendly. Dog walking country and not dog friendly. 🙄 when booking our holiday cottage we were led to believe it was dog friendly!

We booked a table for Sunday lunch to be told the meat was lamb, explanation later. Walking into the pub we were greeted and made welcome by the owner. The waitress, Clio, showed us to our table. It transpired that the pub has a small menu and today, Sunday, the lunch was lamb; accompanied by carrots, cauliflower cheese, roast and new potatoes, and gravy. The meal was plentiful and tasty; this was home cooking, none of your off-site cooked and then brought to table food you often get in big chain pubs. Take it from us - if Carling did Sunday lunch they probably couldn’t do one as nice as this one. Again the desert was limited for choice, an almond flavoured, jam sponge with custard (or ice-cream, and likely as not both if you so desired) or mince pie, again with a choice of topping. All rounded off with coffee of one’s choice. Now not to decry the the Foxhounds in anyway, this is not your normal pub fare, this is more like being invited to your parents or friends for lunch - good food, simply prepared. Our waitress was charming and couldn’t do enough for us throughout our stay. Located on Biddulph Moor the pub enjoys a delightful rural setting; sat out here on a summer’s day must be a delight. An added incentive is likely the beer, as the owner took pride in his beers and the tip-top state he kept them in. I can confirm that his wines are nice too. This was our first visit to the Foxhounds, but as Arnold Schwarzenegger might have said - “we will be back!”

Lovely find today for Sunday lunch. Warm hosts, cozy pub vibes super chilled atmosphere. Spoke to the owners Mike and Jean, really interesting to hear their story, super friendly chap. Cleo who served us was just gorgeous, very efficient and polite. Will be paying them another visit soon hopefully. Downside is a no dogs indoors policy which wot suit everyone unless you ditch the dog for a day off!

Very friendly, we say in the marquee as we had a pooch with us, but we were made very welcome and were quite cosy. We had a very nice roast chicken, a few too many potatoes for us with roast, new and mashed! Plus bread sauce! But all very tasty, we could have done with a little more gravy but that was minor.

Lovely little pub with 2 lovely owners who are in their senior years but with that comes experience so the beer is to die for. It is a free house so if it Bass,Pedigree,London Pride any of these is my tipple and have not tasted better anywhere, the wife likes a cider so the old mout cider hits the spot. So for a warm welcome and a superb beer you will not go wrong and a great beer garden as well

Lived here with my Gran in the 60's when it was a typical country boozer. The new owners have completely changed the inside! Normally not a lover of 'makeovers' but this one has been tastefully done and has certainly set it on the right road to continue for many years to come. Very good selection of beers (stand fast London Pride (ugh)). We were too late for lunch so cannot comment on the food. Highly recommended for a visit,

Very friendly and helpful staff. Called here for lunch following a walk. Food fine and not over priced, although I did wonder at the crab cakes with sweet potato - very tasty- but unable to taste any crab probably because the sweet potato was too powerful. We live down the road, news of The Foxhound reopening was great news. Booked a table for Sunday lunch and we were not disappointed. The interior decor mixed old with new and the atmosphere just drew us in. Starter was Vegetable and Stilton soup with crusty roll. Main course I had Pork with all the trimmings including crackling yummy. Dessert was Apple Crumble with Custard to die for. All the food appeared home made, Claire who was behind the bar made us very welcome and it was a very enjoyable afternoon. Thank you guys for breathing new life into the Foxhound, we will see you again very soon 5*****

A proper pub. Really friendly welcoming pub, big portions, food is exceptional. Especially nice at Christmas.

Both the steak and chicken dishes were delicious and cooked to perfection. Though they didn’t look like large portions, they were surprisingly satisfying. The candied carrot cheesecake was absolutely lovely, while the banoffee pie didn’t quite meet my wife’s expectations—perfect excuse for a swap! In the end, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

A substandard meal and service, we had a 45 minute wait for our main course, the plates and food were barely warm. The food was badly cooked and presented, vegitables floating in water, weird roast potato's. no seasoning etc. Desserts were good but within minutes of clearing the table we were asked to vacate the table, including an unnecsessary personal comment. We still hadn't finished our drinks and could have been invited to move to the bar.

We went for Sunday Lunch. Everything was wonderful apart from the pathetic amount of beef we received on our Roast Beef Dinner. My wife asked how they actually manage to cut it so thin. Two tiny pieces. Shame, everything else was spot on

We were staying over in Leek on a Sunday evening, wanting to sample some Staffordshire oatcakes the following morning, but the oatcake shop we wanted was closed on Monday! Poor planning. But luckily this place was open at 7.30 am and we found what we wanted here: oatcakes with various fillings such as bacon or tomato; all with cheese. If you've not tried them, Staffordshire oatcakes are very different to the Scottish biscuit that most people associate with 'oatcakes'. Here, they are a soft, flexible wrapper like a pancake, or perhaps a chapatti, made from a thin layer of a yeasted oatmeal/wheat batter griddled until it sets, then wrapped around your chosen filling. We took a pair of oatcakes with cheese and bacon, and a full English of 2 eggs, 2-3 bacon, 2 sausages, 2 toast, beans and tomatoes, plus extra hash browns. This was all in a takeaway tray - there is no table service here. It took about 10 minutes, which is fair enough as everything is cooked to order; but we were the only customers at that time. I imagine at busy times there could be quite a wait. The food was excellent, piping hot as you'd expect with it being cooked to order; and good value too, under £10 for the 2 breakfasts described above, though coffees added a bit more. Highly recommended.
