Stopped for a quick lunch during a walk and so glad we did. Excellent value food, served piping hot and very tasty too.

Great home cooked meals, friendly accommodating staff & a real country local atmosphere. Would highly recommend if in the area.

Excellent friendly place. Had meals at different times such as Sunday lunch, evening plus early evening. Always really hot when served,food is always good. Desserts are a must have to me anyway. Welcoming atmosphere especially as I am a lady on her own. Well behaved Dogs are allowed to come in even if you are eating. Been coming to the knot for years.

Really lovely place. Staff were very friendly and made us feel welcome immediately. We went on the curry night where there was a set menu. Onion bhaji to start, this was incredible - so crispy and tasty (one of the best I've ever had). Then there was a choice of 2 curry's, a tikka masala and a chicken bhuna. We tried both and they were good. It came with a naan bread which was cooked to perfection. Choice of desserts was good, I had the Brownie which melted in your mouth and was so warm, and we also had the treacle pudding which was also lovely. The food was £40.00 with the set menu deal for 2 each having 3 courses. Compliments to the chef, we will be back!

The Eton mess is heaven in a dish , I shouldnt tell eveyone or they may not have any left next rime I visit 🤣 The homemade creamy cheese broccolli bake was also amazing and the chips are fabulous, can't recommend enogh , definitely See you soon !! 😊

Great local pub with a lovely atmosphere. Recently refurbished to a very high standard with great facilities (tv for sports, pool table). Bar food is available and fantastic value for money. Very friendly staff, can not wait to go back.

Excellent. Very comfortable & inviting pub. Donna is an excellent host. Food was delicious traditional pub food, with a simple & not exaggerated menu. Nicely decorated - clean & rustic, whilst been current & with a traditional feel. A good choice of ales & beers. Fruit machine & pool table. A duke box & screens for I imagine big games etc. Even an open fire & bar rails. Some really nice little touches 👍 thoroughly recommend a visit 🍻🥂

Lovely little country pub that does food but only open for part of the week. Unfortunately there isn't a car park nor a great deal of parking around. Does a really delicious Sunday roast. Great ambience, clean and very pretty decor, well recommend a visit but check first whether it's open.

Excellent value, lovely homely food, would definitely go again. Went to The Staffordshire Knot again today and yes it has changed, still dog friendly although ours wasn't which was embarrassing and unusual! The seating has been reupholstered, the whole place has a new clean tidy look after a makeover during lockdown. The food was tasty and value for money, the service speedy, good hand pump beer and cool glass of wine. Thank you. 11/12/22 We visited again today for Sunday roast, unfortunately the menus provided didn't list any roasts which was disappointing. We selected our meals and submitted our order. We chatted and, as we did so, I noticed a board on the wall across the room advertising Sunday roast! Disappointment turned to anger that no-one had thought to either offer or bring to our attention the notice. My other grievance was that we were positioned under a huge television screen which, although the sound was switched off, kept changing colours and pictures, diverting attention to the ever changing screen spoiling our family Sunday lunch. Never in our household would the television be on whilst entertaining and dining, this new addition is one which will make me very reluctant to return, sorry.

Had a lovely meal here yesterday for my nephews 21st. There was 11 of us and each and every meal was just perfect and delicious. A great pub, so relaxing and staff are so friendly. Cant wait to go back and try a Sunday lunch. Thank you.

Lovely home cooked food at great prices

Really fantastic pub , the food is amazing , home cooking at its best , never been disappointed, pies, gammon even a sandwich and chips is great. Also draught Bass .........delicious.

Booking is advised (it says on the website), but nobody answers the phone. I have tried six times yesterday and today. Nobody picks up. No idea whether they are closed for Covid or some other reason, or have gone bankrupt and packed up the business. Shame, it looks good on the website.

Family of 6 visited in October. Very impressed. The quality of the food was exceptional. Rack of lamb was three big hunks of lamb, cooked perfectly pink, with crispy, salty fat, and a rich sauce. Steak was ordered medium, and came cooked perfectly and well rested. Desserts were lovely too. Top quality pub grub.

Just returned from a lovely meal in this charming country inn. Received a warm welcome and an interesting selection on the menu. Husband had the mussels followed by the cod with bacon & black pudding, I had smoked salmon & prawns followed by the duck breast and sweet potatoes. All cooked with a fresh twist and inventive sauces and served well with an ample selection of vegetables. We just about managed to fit in choices of puddings. Highly recommend.

Our lunch today was enjoyable, 10/10 we will definitely be back 10/10 for bar maids whom were happy and welcoming.

Visited again and the quality remained top notch. Good menu with sufficient range to meet all needs. Starters featured excellent Baked Camembert, superb mussels and creamy garlic mushrooms. Mains were also excellent, particularly the chicken pie, the sea bass and the duck. Service was excellent; personable yet professional. Quality and will be back again.

My wife and I had dinner here in August 2021. The food was outstanding and the prices extremely good in our opinion considering the quality of the produce used and the creativity of the menu. The service was also exceptional. This is a must-visit restaurant in the Peak District.

WOW, what a meal, we booked here as a recommendation from where we were staying at ‘Parsons House B&B’, and they managed to squeeze us in during our stay for a meal. Tucked out of the way just outside Hartington, we loved the setting and the food was incredible, we ordered starters ‘Goats Cheese with salad’ and ‘Camembert’ which were delicious and a beautiful starter, for our mains we had ‘Chicken Roulade’ and ‘Rack of Lamb Ribs’, delightful food, they come with side veg and are a large portion. Some of the best food we have had, and both left us very full, but it was so nice didn’t want to leave anything. Can’t recommend this restaurant highly enough, the staff are amazing and so happy and smiling continuously, they deserve high praise, if you can get in, book here.

Best Sunday lunch in a pub, great service and food. First time in Peak District and have to say friendly people, fantastic scenery and great pubs but this one topped the lot.

Having not visited, for some reason, for a number of years whilst on holiday in Hartington, we booked a table as suggested & received a warm welcome. We were the first diners & our hostess was very helpful, bringing our menus & we had a good chat whilst she served our drinks. After choosing main courses we continued our conversation until other diners arrived & it wasn't long before our meals were served. We were delighted with our choices - duck & rack of lamb - which were beautifully presented on hot plates. The portions were generous & the selection of vegetables was very good. We enjoyed every mouthful - both meats were very tender & tasty. We had room for desserts & chose lemon tart & Eton mess & although we were told of a slight delay because of several other diners being served, we didn't wait long at all & were not disappointed with our choices. We highly recommend this lovely pub in a quiet village.

First time at the Knot in ages. All 3 of us had an excellent meal and would definitely recommend this quiet lovely little pub. Very welcoming and although the selection of beer was limited, the Winkle Waller was excellent.

One of my favourite pubs to visit. They allow dogs and the staff are very welcoming and friendly.

Found this pub off the beaten track in a beautiful setting. The menu changes daily to the fresh produce the chef sources. There was a great selection to choose from. We both had the lamb. Perfectly cooked to out order and bend over backwards to accommodate my food intolerances. We finished with baked Camembert and bread and butter pudding in a cream and whiskey source. We left really full and happy.

We have dined here several times. Book in advance to secure. It’s a firm favourite Consistently high standards - food fantastic. Everything locally sourced, freshly prepared and cooked to perfection - a hidden gem. Family birthday Sunday lunch celebration - Whole hearted thumbs up from us all.

cycled 13 miles to get there on a Saturday for lunch to find it closed.....smacks of someone not bothered or wants to make a village pub in to a house...good luck with that one ad the PP!!!! Oh and please let us know if you can be bothered to do food again.

We had heard good things about the Staffordshire Knot and we were not to be disappointed. The quality and range of the food is excellent all produced freshly onsite. Excellent starters including baked cheeses, mussels, mushroom in tarragon, top quality mains, steak, rack of lamb, an incredible steak pie and fish. Desserts took some traditional dishes and elevated them to new heights. Try the Bread and Butter Pudding with Whisky Cream ! A local bitter on tap as well as lager, cider and Guinness and a good selection of wine. For this quality of food in an atmospheric setting the prices are reasonable. Service was very good, friendly and very Covid secure. Cannot fault this restaurant at all. Phone ahead to check opening times and booking is essential, don't expect just to drop in and get a table as you are very likely to be disappointed. This is particularly necessary during Covid times when opening times and table availability are limited. Have already booked a return visit.

I rang to try and make a reservation for 2 people with a dog. Was asked what kind of dog, when she found out it was a golden retriever I was quickly told no because of the hair it would leave in pub. Disgusting service...

This pub is beautifully presented. Everything is freshly painted, the outside tables look pretty with their pots of lavender and inside, when we went, there was a real open fire to greet us on a cold and damp May Day. Covid rules are well adhered...

Our first visit to Derbyshire and found this gem! My wife and I had the chicken with brie together with beautifuly cooked fresh vegetables. The service from our host and owner was superb. Thanks again for a lovely meal.

We enjoyed a lovely supper here, cooked by the lady chef and owner and served by her young assistant at the bar. Delicious local rack of lamb and accompanying vegetables followed by Eton mess made a great meal. You may have to wait a little...

The pie from the specials board was the best pie we’ve ever had. Cosy atmosphere and lovely staff. Worth the trip for the chefs homemade pie!!

My friend and I were travelling around in our little camper van when we accidentally stumbled across this gem! I can't recommend this place enough and I will definitely be returning very soon. Great stay, beautiful setting, amazing food and fantastic hospitality. We were the only one's staying at the pub for the night and the landlady very kindly opened the toilets early in the morning for us and even made us a freshly brewed pot of coffee!

We came on Sunday for a late lunch, staggered bookings meant that social distance was stuck to. Staff wore visors and we were pleased with how clean it was. The meal was delicious and well presented. The toilets were also very clean, also with disinfectant spray supplied to clean the toilets before and after use. They followed all safety procedures for covid.If we come back to the area we would definitely visit again.Thank you

Wow, what a meal we had here. Two couples away camping in the peaks and luckily this pub was just down the road. Incredible food and a very interesting old building. Would highly recommend to all.

I visited the Knot Inn whilst on a break in Derbyshire. The food was wonderful - I had rack of lamb followed by chocolate tart. The lamb was pink and tender, potatoes creamy and well cooked veg. There are several places in the area which do ‘pub grub’, but this is good quality home cooked food. I just wish I lived locally so that I could visit more often.The pub has taken every precaution for social distancing, cleanliness and staggered bookings.I would thoroughly recommend here for food, location and pub style.

I have just got back from having the best Sunday roast ever. We've been quite a few times before but this was the first time since 'lockdown' lifted. It's certainly well prepared in regard to health and safety preparation with proper spacing, sanitisers, staff visors etc. I had the roast pork, my sister had the lamb and my 8 year old nephew had beef. We all said how great it was. I'm particular about sourcing my meat from a local butcher, but the meat here beats that. Definitely proper, local produce. All the vegetables were cooked just right and lovely gravy. We couldn't resist having dessert. Warm chocolate brownie and a chocolate tart with raspberry coulis - absolutely delicious. I will try and upload a photo if I can. I definitely recommend the Staffordshire Knot - best place for miles and miles.

We went for dinner at the lovely Staffordshire Knot and were not disappointed. Everything on the menu sounded amazing but we enjoyed the Duck in Cherry sauce and Rack of Lamb all served by the very busy but lovely Laura. Would definitely recommend this place!

My husband and I love this place: delicious food cooked from fresh by the landlady herself and served stylishly; super choice of dishes (especially in the current climate) and a friendly welcome. We ate here on 2 concurrent evenings and on both occasions were not disappointed. On our first evening we both opted for garlic mushrooms with cheese which came with freshly cooked warm crusty bread, followed by pork medallions over provencal vegetables and accomplice by crisp, fluffy roast potatoes and seasonal vegetable - both were superb. Our second evening we shared a fantastic baked Camembert then my husband enjoyed chicken roulade whilst I was equally impressed with crispy baked cod.This is by far the best place to eat in the region, offering cuisine a huge ‘cut- above’ standard pub food and at a very reasonable price. It is no surprise that we will be going back at the earliest opportunity. Be sure to book In advance if you want to guarantee a table - I’m not the only one to know how good this place is!

Excellent food. Visited 3 times in a week as much better than other 'scampi and chips' offerings locally. Accommodate allergy requirements very well and feels safe with good covid procedures in place.

Fantastic food and brilliant service. Chose this venue for a special family celebration and we were not disappointed. The meats were all cooked to perfection and the vegetarian options were imaginative and tasty. Totally recommend. Also a good safe system of booking and service in place for these difficult times

We enjoyed an excellent reunion dinner for 3 old school friends at this lovely meal. Rib eyed steak duck breast and medallions of pork cooked to perfection. Really friendly landlady and staff. I am not so sure many people appreciate that this popular pub is open again. So glad we went

This is a wonderful traditional English pub! How pubs used to be, steeped in gorgeous character, open fire, flagstone floor, solid furniture... and a warm cheery welcome from the landlady. Less than 5 minutes from the Hartington road, with off road parking, in the tiny village of sheen surrounded by beautiful countryside - the Dove valley on one side, and the Manifold valley on the other.... blissful views! The menu was lovely, not the usual pub grub, well cooked and tasty - mine pork medallions with a port and fig sauce, there was also a great looking rack of lamb and a couple of different vegetarian options. This pub is off the main tourist trail and really worth seeking out for a traditional country pub experience. We were made to feel very much at home, had a very memorable time and will certainly be back.

The best steak and ale pie that I have ever tasted.

We went for lunch Saturday and all 3 of us were amazed. Rack of lamb, Feta cheese in filo pastry with sweet onions and pine nuts, Chicken wrapped with bacon and containing a stilton cheese sauce. Cauliflower cheese (perfectly al dente) and other veg.Plates were hot and huge so portions looked much smaller than they actually were. Very tasty and completely adequate. We were too full for sweets but we never eat much for lunch.Jaqueline was very attentive and gave a bowl of turkey pieces to our happy dog by the coal fire. She advises everyone to book especially during the winter. Lovely building built 1666

Went to this pub on Sunday. Lovely old place full of charm and warm and cosy. Had the Sunday lunch,proper food cooked like granny used to cook. Everything cooked to perfection. Nice real ales. Extremely friendly staff and fast service. Can only give this extremely high praise and can highly recommend this to anyone that appreciates the good old days style of dining and excellent value for money. Fantastic.
