An amazing restaurant in the heart of Stratford! We had the 7 course tasting menu and would definitely come back and try again. One course slightly let it down - we weren't convinced by the combination of lamb & anchovy and the lamb itself was rump so a bit fatty, but I suppose that is personal preference so not a reason to not return. The service was exceptional, could not fault the front of house one bit - very friendly, funny & attentive!

We’ve been meaning to come here for a while having been to most of the Stratford restaurants. The menu and specials board are nicely diverse with 3 fish options vegetarian options and pork and beef. I chose the 3 fish medley in white wine and dill and my wife had the chicken and leek pie. Portions were good and both dishes were very flavourful we cleaned our plates. The desert menu was very exciting but we were full so shared a very eclectic 5 cheese board. With wine and coffee the bill came in at less than 100 and we felt well fed. Will come back as the menu deserves another visit and the quality of cooking and diverse specials suggests a strong chef.

Finding it difficult to see where the great reviews come from . My husband and myself went in for an evening meal on a Monday evening. We were met at the bar by a “young lad” who pointed to a free table brought our drinks then we sat waiting for our order to be taken for 15 minutes. The order was taken by the blonde lady who was short, abrupt and frosty in her manner . There weee only a handful of us in there and the blonde lady, maybe land lady ,walked past numerous times but didn’t acknowledge us. When our food did arrive it was very bland . My husband had steak and pie,a small slice, frozen chips and VERY plain boiled vegetables with I suspect ‘bisto’gravy. I had chicken Caesar salad ,it was fine but Nothing more . I asked if I may have extra Parmesan and the young lad just dumped it in front of me on a plate and said nothing. The pub is very much lacking in customer service. No body came over and asked if everything was ok,or if they could get us anything else despite them walking past our table multiple times . We asked for the bill and it was brought over to our table .Nobody explained ,as they didn’t when we arrived there about the ordering procedure, whether we were to pay at the bar or if someone would come to take payment at our table. We got fed up trying to get the lady’s attention so left our money on the table(as is done in many establishments )when paying cash. As we were leaving the barman called to us ‘you havnt paid!!’how very unprofessional, rude and unfriendly .we explained to him we had . Nobody said goodbye or asked if everything had been ok. There are some fabulous eateries in stratford with delicious food and lovely service . The thatched Tavern is definately not one of them.

This river cruise used to be very special but alas it no longer is. Table presentation is basic no nice white linen table cloth,no nice table napkins. Food no where near as good as it was a couple of years ago. The desert was especially poor and the wine was served barely chilled In fact the interior of the barge could do with a really good deep clean. The owners of the Countess of Evesham need to up their game as they are letting themselves and customers down.

I cannot recommend this pub highly enough! The staff are so friendly and attentive and the food is amazing. The service was quick, even though it was busy when we arrived for Sunday lunch and we hadn't made a reservation, they managed to fit us in. The pub itself is really cosy, dog friendly and it has great outdoor area (although we didn't really have the weather on our visit to enjoy that part!) We will definitely be back!

We only stopped in for a drink before dinner, ( alas) , as this place was so warm , inviting, and full of charm. I really wish we'd eaten there, as it did look and feel like it would have been better than where we ate, but we will know for again!!. Stunning history to the place, and showcased to great effect- the décor was really postcard worthy. Plus a lot of credit to the staff, ( the bar mans name was Cameron , I think) who took the time and effort to tell us a lot about the building, and the relevance of the stuff on display. His knowledge and friendliness, added a lot to our, (too short) visit. Like i say I will insist on staying there next time- top marks

What an fabulous pub! This is what a true English pub looks like, feels like, smells like! Amazing...log fire, real beer, professional staff. The pub has so much history , from the date of the building to the contents around the pub. I enjoyed a fine cigar out front, below it's famous Mulberry tree, enjoyed a great pint of Guinness whilst listening to an Owl in a tree opposite the pub. A must place to visit...
