Lovely food and wonderful service, a great experience

Arrived on time an put on a table near the toilets. Was moved putto a much nicer location on request. The atmosphere was lovely and the waitress very pleasant and efficient. However the food portions were way small. The fillet steak medallions were tiny , they were served with 7 small chips in a miniature metal bucket with some greens. Really disappointingly small. Each was smaller than a match box ! As for deserts they can in a tiny ramakin. This place has a lovely vibe but well overpriced for the amount of actual food you get to eat. Even charged £3.95 for tap water and then had the arrogance to have a note on the table that they had decided to put a 10percent service charge on the bill . I asked for my service charge to be removed and tipped cash that I chose. Won’t recommend to anyone who is actually going there to eat . Nice for drinks and social. Overrated. Far to expensive for the meagre portions.

As always our experience was wonderful. The food is always delicious and the service is exceptional and the staff are so attentive and can’t do enough for you. Me and my partner had the chateaubriand and it was beautifully cooked and very tasty. When we come back to Stratford to visit we will definitely be returning!

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The open sandwich was a bit lean,but that's our only criticism. The service was first-rate, staff friendly and engaging. The aesthetics of the restaurant are most pleasant. The buttermilk chicken burger was enormous and very tasty. Great value. Perfectly cooked mussels. Good selection, good prices. We would return!

I booked Loxley’s as a Surprise for my wife’s birthday. We had a really lovely evening with a cosy table for two beside a lovely fire. The food was first class and the chateaubriand was just superb! A special mention also to all the excellent staff, in particular our waitress. So professional, friendly and with a lovely sense of humour. We visit Stratford upon Avon frequently and we’ve dined in many of the restaurants but Loxley’s must be our favourite.

Another superb Sunday Roast lunch at Loxleys with friends. We were made to feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Excellent service, friendly staff, great food. Many thanks.

Family meal on a Saturday night. Arrived at 7 and left at 10.45. Not rushed very knowledgeable and attentive staff plus a good atmosphere right to the end. Highly recommended.

The restaurant as a whole I can’t really complain except for a little update especially the toilet’s. The service was excellent … Emily the waitress could not fault her at all . Lively evening, food and service at Loxley’s this evening. Highly recommended.

Staff very good. Particularly enjoyed the haloumi starter, sea bass main and blueberry sorbet crême brûlée. Pre theatre menu is good value. Lovely sitting by the log burner.

Wonderful evening – beautiful cosy table upstairs where we were served by friendly, welcoming staff. It was my friend's birthday and they gave her a card which was a lovely touch! Lovely menu with good choices and we enjoyed everything we had. The scallops were great as was the cheeseboard. Really enjoyable evening and I'd certainly recommend Loxleys.

Lovely pre- theatre meal. Prompt service and food was excellent. Pork belly and chicken with sides of hispi cabbage and green beans followed by treacle tart and cheeseboard. All excellent. On the pricey side but worth it!

Fabulous food and some great service but initially we were left waiting for our drink then food order the male server seemed distracted. Once one of the female servers took over we saw a marked improvement. Would definitely recommend and return again.

It was an amazing experience from the moment we stepped in. The welcome was warm and friendly and the setting perfect. The food was delicious and the perfect amount, we had three courses and every one was just right. The waitress was attentive and friendly, the speed of service was spot on. We would highly recommend this restaurant and even though we are only in Stratford upon Avon for a few nights we may return.

We had a delicious Sunday Roast - strip loin of beef for me and lamb for my husband. Generous portions, range of vegetables, Yorkshire puddings and roasties. ( Roasties were the only MINOR letdown - so difficult to provide crispy roasties in a busy restaurant on a Sunday; these were crisp but clearly reheated) Dessert - we really didn’t have room but it would have been rude not to! Equally yummy. Service was attentive without being overbearing. If we lived nearer we’d certainly revisit.

We always have an excellent dining experience at Loxleys and this visit wasn't exception.

A treasure of a place to visit...we have dined here several times now and have always been greeted with a warm welcome, excellent service and amazing food quality and presentation...i would HIGHLY recommend a visit...you will not be disappointed !

Small cosy restaurant, we were seated upstairs with friends. Service was very friendly. Great menu and tasty food, delicious hummus, risotto, skewers and steak enjoyed by all. Recommendation from our son and I can see why

We had an ok night on Christmas Eve - we had to ask a change of table when we arrived as I requested a quiet table but I was sat at the entrance and by the stairs so a double disturbance spot. This was changed for us without issues which was very appreciated - Then we had this great waiter ( our favourite part of the evening was him) - The meal on its own was average for me - we took their most expensive item on the menu, the châteaubriant - the beef was ok but I didn’t like how it was served - on a grey anthracite normal plate - usually it would be a wooden board or something more showing off- the fries were good ( french fries with truffle oil and Parmesan ) -the portobello mushroom was really disappointing - it was a water sponge and left lots of water on my plate , which was not a good combination with my steak - then the tomato for me is reminding me of a full English breakfast and this is everything but an English breakfast - the sauces were good , specially the béarnaise - They Stilton sauce needed more Stilton in it but I like it still - But apart from the portobello for me the most disappointing was the side salad - first it was how we call it «  tired » but where was the dressing!!!! I mean you never serve salad of any type without a french dressing ( or any other dressing) - this is a faux pas - I also ordered a pink G&T but they had no pink - Anyway as I said the server was great so somehow I didn’t leave with a bitter taste from my experience - But it could have been definitely way better

Best restaurant in Stratford upon Avon ..stunning food as always ..never disappoints !

We were rather underwhelmed by Loxleys. We had told them it was our golden wedding anniversary and when we arrived they had placed a card on the table. The waitress did wish us a happy anniversary and took our order. First and main course came with no problem - although the food was not very hot. The waitress then took our dessert order for 2 tirimisu and asked if we wanted ice cream with it and we said we did. There seemed to be a long wait and she brought 2 amarretto. We hadn't ordered these, but assumed they were a complementary treat for our anniversary. Then the waitress came and asked if we wanted to order anything else. We asked about our previously ordered tirimisu and she expressed surprise and said she thought we ordered ammaretto. In which case, we said, why did you ask if we wanted ice cream? The couple at the next table, then said they had ordered the ammaretto for themselves, but they were prepared to pay for ours as it was our anniversary. We thanked them, but felt that the fault lay with Loxleys. We did eventually get our dessert - with no ice cream - but by then we had had enough of Loxleys and decided to pay up and leave. The nicest part of the meal was having a conversation with the couple who paid for our ammarreto! To sum up - we thought the meal was overpriced and we were not valued as customers, which was disappointing as it was our special occasion.

Delightful staff. Pleasant surroundings given the ancient nature of the building. Well cooked food and a good selection of wines. I didn’t find the menu filled with choices I wanted to try, but the 2 dishes my husband and I chose were both excellent.

Service and food quality were excellent. Russell was very attentive and personable. We ordered the chateaubriand which was delicious. The only thing I would say is that the starters were slightly overpriced for what you got. Would definitely recommend. Lovely ambience in the restaurant overall.

Went for my birthday and didn’t disappoint. Usual high standard on all fronts. Food fantastic - not often I gave 3 courses ( if ever) but couldn’t resist the tiramisu and glad I didn’t as it was outstanding

Very busy indeed on the Sunday before Xmas. Loads of helpful staff and table for 2 ready and waiting. Service was efficient and cheerful. We had a query with the Sole which was dealt with immediately by the manager who was brilliant. He unhesitatingly reordered a new sole and replaced both my wife’s and my meal to ensure we synchronised our meal. New sole was perfect and my fillet steaks excellent. The manager had deleted our Prosecco starter drinks and gratuity when the bill arrived. I cannot praise them enough for food and customer service. A delightful lunchtime experience.

We were originally seated upstairs, but there was a very noisy party taking place. We asked if we could be moved downstairs, I have to say that the staff were most helpful and found our party a downstairs table. We could not fault the staff's effort to make sure that everything was OK. Top marks to all.

We experienced exceptional service, great food and an attractive environment at Loxley’s. They accommodated a group larger than we had booked for in an already full restaurant without fuss or complaint. We all very much enjoyed our meals and they maintained high standards of quality despite the extra pressure. Would wholeheartedly recommend.

All the staff were very friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed the food though had expected there to be a set menu, but was only a festive set menu for 6 plus people. We were placed in a side room with a view of the waiters station which was quite disappointing. However the food and wine was delicious and our waitress was lovely. We would definitely visit again but would prefer to be in the main area of the restaurant the next time.

This was our first time visiting and we were so glad we did.From the moment we stepped through the doors, the staff were exceptional. We had the pre theatre menu, and it was absolutely superb, excellent value for money, we most certainly will return on our next visit.

Wonderful staff, amazing food, fantastic atmosphere, what more could you want? I had the spicy prawn linguine, which wasn’t particularly spicy, but tasted beautiful and the prawns were cooked to perfection. Would definitely recommend

Lovely setting but we found the main dishes all very similar and quite heavy. The starters were lovely and very tasty. My Husband did mention this at the end uo the waitress. We skipped desert as there wasn't really anything on the menu that was light and refreshing. Service was very friendly and good.

Another excellent dinner at Loxleys. We have visited a number of times and Loxleys is always our number one choice in Stratford. The wine list is well chosen and the food delicious; we had the scallops and heirloom tomatoes, followed by chicken and Thai curry with prawns, and some excellent cheese. Every dish was very tasty and beautifully presented. Service is always first class and our waitress Annie was both friendly and efficient. We will of course go back.

Came for Sunday lunch. Last time we came we were not impressed with the a le carte Saturday night menu. However after being persuaded to go for lunch. I can honestly say the food was AMAZING we paid for extra meat which was heaps. And well worth the extra. We had my grandson with us who is only 18 month. They brought his lunch out very quickly and assisted with bringing a bowl of fruit for him after his lunch. Overall I can’t wait to go again. Probsthe nicest filling Sunday lunch I have had out for a long time.

We were a group of 6. Most of us loved the food but the vegan (plant based) options were extremely poor and over priced. Sounded good on the menu (hence the reason we choose the restaurant) but in practice they lacked flavour, protein and imagination.

Food was fabulous, so much flavour. 4 of us dining and we had the belly pork, lamb, steak and prawn linguine, all were spot on. Only minor gripe was been charged £6.60 for a pint of coke, more than a pint of beer. I really feel that in the age of zero tolerance for drinking and driving that all soft drinks prices should be caped and should definitely be cheaper than an alcoholic drink.

As always our experience of Loxley’s was outstanding, the food is always not notch, the service is quality, the staff are always polite and helpful, the girl who is front of house has an exceptional knowledge of her clients, she makes us feel very welcome, we travel 40 mins to get to Stratford, it’s worth it though.
