New to the area and was recommended here.. loved it! We had large mix meat and chips with curry sauce (and a fritter on the side!). Everything was delicious, even though we went 30 mins before closing time, everything was still fresh. Very friendly staff 🙂 will definitely be returning!

My favourite place to get cookie pies and milkshakes! Sarah is lovely and always extremely helpful! Upstairs there is a relaxing place to either sit with friends or revise!

I popped into the House of Bread Cafe because I had heard about their book shelf and wanted to donate some of my old books. The staff are extremely welcoming and friendly. It is a pay as you feel establishment. It does a wonderful job of helping out a lot of people in need in the local Stafford area. There is a children's room, piano, many tables, and lovely bookcases in the cafe. It's a delightful place to donate your books to and grab a brew.

We needed a lunch venue for 3 of us, somewhere between North West Staffordshire and Birmingham on Saturday and after a couple of searches The Soup Kitchen came up as the best option. We found easy nearby car park (complete with EV charging which was a bonus) We entered the building and were greeted immediately on arrival and there was no queue. We were then shown immediately to a small booth, which was nice and cosy. The menu was very comprehensive and we were very much spoilt for choice. We had an iced green tea, pot of tea and a water while we decided. We settled on Rosti and Breakfast Staffordshire Oatcake and were not disappointed. We then visited the cakes on display at the entrance to decide on what to have next. We had lemon meringue pie and coffee and salted caramel gateau, which were very enjoyable. Having seen some large sundae glasses with straws being taken to other tables, we finished with a couple of chocolate milkshakes. All in all, it was a very enjoyable lunch and a great find. There were plenty of staff and we never had to wait long to get somebodies attention. It was a very popular place as was evident by how busy it was, even with it being a little out of sight from the main part of the town centre. It reminded me very much of a proper teahouse such as Betty's in York. We all enjoyed our visit and would definitely visit again if in the area.

Visited one lunch time with some friends, not over busy, lots of empty tables. Originally seated under aircon(?) unit but found it to be dripping directly onto the table and the floor next to the table. We moved elsewhere and raised with the team and we overheard “oh yeh I know. Just shove a wet floor sign”. No apology for the inconvenience of having to uproot ourselves, belongings, drinks etc, no attempt to clean the puddle or take the table out of service with a false reservation sign or anything. Wasn’t offered sauces, didn’t have anyone check our meals were ok (they weren’t very hot but were edible), didn’t have our plates cleared - generally just a bit of a let down really. They didn’t seem busy or understaffed, so cant really work out why there was no real service beyond dropping our meals to the table.

Went to the beer festival yesterday, wide selection of drinks, really good beer, decent live band and lovely staff. Downside was all the ciders I tried were extremely sweet and tepid and the BBQ food was AWFUL. £12 for a thin burnt pizza with very little pepperoni and £8 for a very average burger with one slice of kraft cheese and no other toppings or salad. The chips were good but again expensive, and no salt and vinegar were available or other condiments. Strongly recommend sticking to drinks and eating elsewhere until they resume serving the normal food menu.

Very disappointed, Staying local , so we popped in for a light bite, the pub was quiet a small private party in that had pre booked carvery . We asked if we could have food , To be told no , ( why advertise food ) We only wanted pate / light bite . No cooking required . Definitely not one to come back to .

Ideal historic venue for breakfast from the traditional Wetherspoon's wide choice. All excellent value, served by friendly and efficient staff. Toilets were spotless, and the whole place is a real asst to the town (as it has been for 110 years).

My wife and I called in one Saturday afternoon and it was really quiet. After being stood at the bar for 10 minutes without seeing any member of staff I can understand why. We ended up walking out and going somewhere where they wanted our custom, personally I will not think about returning.
