Verso Lounge in Stafford

Visited one lunch time with some friends, not over busy, lots of empty tables. Originally seated under aircon(?) unit but found it to be dripping directly onto the table and the floor next to the table. We moved elsewhere and raised with the team and we overheard “oh yeh I know. Just shove a wet floor sign”. No apology for the inconvenience of having to uproot ourselves, belongings, drinks etc, no attempt to clean the puddle or take the table out of service with a false reservation sign or anything. Wasn’t offered sauces, didn’t have anyone check our meals were ok (they weren’t very hot but were edible), didn’t have our plates cleared - generally just a bit of a let down really. They didn’t seem busy or understaffed, so cant really work out why there was no real service beyond dropping our meals to the table.

I’ll give one point for the decor and the other for the ladies free facilities in the toilets. The staff are so laid back that for me crossed the line of a professional service, one member of staff was by our table side with two chairs pulled together so she could lie down, watch a lap top movie, nap & with a blanket on top… Not a good look at all. Having observed this I suspected the food wouldn’t be what I initially had hoped for upon entering. My chicken, bacon and avocado salad was limp, sparse and totally made with zero care of the basic attention to detail. Ordered a rose lemonade and was brought a different random drink as the rose had run out. The place itself is nice, pleasant, spacious and with the right management would be a gem.. I wouldn’t return purely based on the food quality.

Very bad. Dirty with food on the floor ( hungry horse style) plastic 70s tomato sauce containers and ignorant staff. Never again.

Absolutely awful for cocktails! You're paying £9 approx for a glass full of ice, completely tasteless. Never again! Complete con!

It is one of my favourite places in stafford for a drink, I go here most weeks to catch up with friends for drink and sometimes food. Always a very relaxed atmosphere and great food quality! Never had any issues with this venue! Have been going regularly for years.

Ordered brunch with colleagues. One disappointment was all the bacon options are smoked or streaky smoked and all sausages are Cumberland, maybe okay with dinner but definitely don't fancy herb seasoning or smoked with my breakfast and not really on keeping with yhis style of cuisine. Feels confused. 🤪 I opted for poached eggs on sourdough, simple enough. It was dreadful, only one slice of toast that was wet with water and vinegar which was the only taste. The white was still not properly cooked so snotty eggs. It was really off putting. Certainly wouldn't describe as lounge eggs i've eaten better food from a breakfast van! Yes I get its supposed to have a european feel. There's realistically too much choice on the menu, maybe pair back and offer simple food really well. My colleagues said similar that the miami brunch was oily and soggy mush that felt like it had been sat around for hours or longer. It's a shame it's a nice looking place with a cosmopolitan feel. My breakfast with a latte came to very £10 so not exactly cheap and definitely not worth it. Won't be ordering breakfast again.

Used to be a nice place to go, would often taken the dogs in when I meet friends/family. No longer dog friendly in my opinion. Very loud and noisy children running around. My dog barked once and I was asked to take her outside. It made us feel very uncomfortable. We won't be returning again.

i got to verso, just for a tea time birthday meal, i entered to find my whole family there, for a suprise party, The staff at Verso, had put tables together, with ballons, and a card for myself, signed by all of there staff, the meals were on time, hot, and so nice, with such a brilliant selection, the staff are so friendly and welcoming, and know us on first name terms, for me that is the difference from other places in this town, they treat you like a family member, i loved the whole time spent there for my 65th birthday, the best time i have had in one night, my family, with all my grandchildren, which Verso menu's for kids is brilliant, the food is prepared with skill and class, i told my wife the day before, i don't want a party, but so, so glad she did, my family all in one place, the place i love most in our town, The Verso Lounge. i cannot thank all the staff enough.thank you.

Excellent breakfasts and coffees here. I had Shaksuka - a delicious dish of chickpeas in a tomato sauce with poached eggs - fabulous - full English goid too.

Visited here early Friday evening before the theatre. Quite quiet but still nice atmosphere. Greeted by friendly young lady & took out seats. We ordered 2 pulled brisket beef chilli, one being dairy free & chicken noodle salad. My chilli was lovely with melted cheese & yoghurt/chillies on top with nice spicy rice. Dairy free option was also good. Chicken noodle salad was plentiful & was told delicious. Enjoyed our experience & will return again.

Can't really fault Food hot and value for money If anything Restaurant was cold only because doors open and wind coming in. Not expecting them to have heating on as it was June But definitely going again x

Verso is my go to for lunch with friends/my partner as we all have something we can eat! I have only ever had one issue (in the ungodly amount of times I have been there!), but since every single gluten free item comes with a little 'gf' flag in it it was easy to spot and no harm done, staff were very quick to rectify it. The allergen flags are a brilliant thing that makes it incredibly clear early on what is safe. They never ask "is it an allergy or an intolerance" like most places as they treat it like an allergy no matter. Overall a wonderful place to go for lunch for even a drink

What can I say the lounge Eggs With Bacon was amazing (please note don’t order at 9:30 at night like me kitchen staff wasn’t impressed) but the food was top notch deffo a place to visit well done to the staff

Staff were excellent and attentive food was gorgeous and everywhere felt safe and followed guidelines and I could have cleared my bank on the drinks , wow! Absolutely amazing glad this is the place we chose to visit when things opened up today ! Over all an amazing trip out !

We visited Verso Lounge on Saturday 24 April. This was our first trip out as a family after lockdown. We chose this venue as we’d enjoyed food here before. Firstly we were very impressed with the Covid safety measures put into place. Secondly the food snd drinks were outstanding, and thirdly, all staff were beyond helpful and friendly. A very special thank you to Joe who was so sweet and helpful and took time to chat to us and offer advice on the local area when asked. Phil was also lovely too. We really do love this place - they just get everything right. I question any reviews stating otherwise. We will be back. Thank you to all at Verso for working so hard x

Staff were inattentive and unfriendly. Do appreciate you can't see a smile behind a mask, but we made more of an effort than they did and we were the customers! By the time my meal came my friend had already finished, what restaurant doesn't serve a tables meals at the same time? I ordered a drink to have while we waited for food and a drink to come with the meal, both drinks came with the meal, great! Disappointing service, just no effort, quite surprising since due to close for lockdown.. Food was tasty wine average, cocktail was blah. So I wouldn't recommend to others or necessarily go there again. The staff could really benefit from training in customer service and dare I say it as the world and the weather gets colder.. Warmth?!

I can’t fault Verso in any way, especially during these uncertain times. The tables are spaced out well, you don’t feel close to anyone during your meal. The staff are all friendly and polite, the food is beautiful. Their attention to detail when it comes to hygiene is definitely some of the best I’ve come across with the new restrictions. Couldn’t be happier, recommended 100%.

We visited Verso Lounge in Stafford for my husband and daughters birthday day. We were a bit nervous about eating out but when we got there we felt very safe staff was very pleasant explained everything. the food was nice and the service was very good. My son has sensory problems and was covering his ears one of the members of staff noticed and asked if he was ok. She offered to turn the music down but we were leaving shortly. But she said next time we come in if we explain they will make sure they turn the music down for us it's nice to go somewhere that's very understanding other people's needs very impressed and I would be certainly going back again

Having visited Verso many times and always had good food and service, was very disappointed to visit last night and experience the opposite. Dirty tables that staff begrudgingly cleaned only when asked and lukewarm food that could only be described as average. Not very good at all..

I do love a “Lounge” - we’ve never been to Verso in Stafford, so we popped in for lunch on Saturday and we left feeling very full! ❤️ I literally have been craving a burger for soooo long & we tried to go last weekend, but they were full! So pleased to finally get back to having a “proper” burger! They have a huge variety of gluten free options and they are really conscious of any allergies. You now order via QR code, however because of I’m a coeliac, one of the team came over to take our order; which was reassuring. I opted for the GF lounge bacon cheeseburger, with a side of sweet potato fries and halloumi. The burger was huge and had so many fillings squeezed between the bun! The sweet potato fries at a lounge are the best that you will find; crispy and full of flavour! My favourite part of the meal The only criticism that I have was that it was a bit cold in the restaurant and we were sat right in the draft of the door, however the decor was really nice and staff very friendly!

Everything was sanitized and cleaned and great care was given in the current climate. The waiters do not have as much to do as food is ordered via the app and so is payment, there were plenty of staff but food took over an hour and a quarter to come. The burgers were nice but the plate looks empty when they arrive at the table, partly because the fries are in a cup/bowl. I feel the price is too high and we were all still hungry when we left (we only have normal appetites) So summary is good food, highly priced, poor service

Verso is one of those places that makes you feel welcome the moment you walk through the door. It's food is amazing, the staff are consistently good natured and friendly, and they are very welcoming to all, whether you're popping in for a chat or to while away the afternoon.The vegan options are amazing; my partner highly recommend them. For me, their full English is the best in Stafford.

Popped in for a breakfast when we had a hour to kill. Service was good despite obvious COVID restrictions which were not overpowering. Food was good and served in a reasonable time. Recommended.

We called in today whilst shopping in the town and ordered coffees and cakes. It wasn’t especially busy mid-morning but we had a wait of 35 minutes before our drinks were brought to the table, the lady was apologetic about the time taken but we expected her to return with the cakes and when she didn’t we had to go over to enquire when we’d be getting them. Apparently the order for those hadn’t gone through so there was a further wait, by which time we’d just about finished our drinks. We visited regularly before but this was our first visit post-lockdown as it has only just reopened but we’ll be going elsewhere in future. Time is too precious to spend over half an hour waiting for a coffee.

Been there twice in a week (not just because of offer) and really enjoyed it on both occasions. We are even going again tomorrow to take grandson. The food is very good with a good varied menu to suit all tastes. The service was also excellent and arrived before we expected it to having been told there could be a longer wait than normal.

First time here since lockdown.I visited with my daughter. It was a busy lunch time due to the government scheme. The food was amazing as always and staff very polite. We didn't have to wait long for our food considering how busy it was. My only concern was our table near the bar (which was the only one available). When people are queuing to order food they seemed to crowd around the table which didn't feel very comfortable in terms of social distancing. Apart from that everything else was great.

My favorite place to go when I pop into town. Lovely coffee and even nicer food. Never had a bad meal. Have had to sometimes wait longer than usual as it has been busy but that can be expected and staff are always lovely

The food tastes good, and there is a nice atmosphere in the restaurant. Nice for an evening tapas or brunch spot. Each time I have been the food has taken around an hour to arrive, and it isn’t always what you ordered. I once ordered a all day breakfast and ended up with a veggie breakfast. I’ll go again, but don’t go if you don’t want a long wait.

Visited 10/3/20 as a party of 5 (plus doggy) to celebrate my daughters' birthday. Right from the outset the staff were very welcoming and accommodating with our birthday cake. Everyone enjoyed their meals (the Tapas and Band Bang chicken were particular winners!). Excellent value for money and top class service that would be hard to beat in a top class restaurant. Thank you !

Love this place. Friendly hard working staff. I had the hero burger and sweet potato fries and pink lemonade very tasty. I came early evening so not too busy and the food came quickly. I normally come here for brunch or lunch never had anything I didn’t like.

The place has a really good feel about it, the staff were very efficient and friendly. Food selection was good, varied and with some food a bit different to other places. My meal was poor though, salmon fish cake with poached egg and hollandaise, sounded lovely but when it arrived the fish cake was tasteless, I would guess around 95% of it was potato, very little fish content. Come on Verso, pay a bit more for the fish cakes so that they actually have some fish in them!

Fantastic gluten free menu with lots to choose from. There was breakfast through to brunch, mains burgers tapas and even pudding. Being coeliac I certainly didn’t miss out. Staff asked about allergies as well as there being allergy signs around. They also understood the importance of serving the correct food. I had the naked lounge burger which tasted fantastic. Lots on the plate. My husband had the gf lounge burger with the bun. Both left very happy customers

Just wanted to praise "Ellie" on her wonderfully friendly disposition. Excellent customer service and even though we only came in for a hot drink we couldn't help but comment on how genuinelly lovely she is. I hope she gets the credit she deserves. More places could do with an Ellie.

We were takin here for brunch by our daughter and son in law because they do a gluten free menu.I have to say that the gluten free menu was fantastic the choice was great and the staff were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble.I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who asked without a second thought.

Such a quirky and cosy little cafe you can be sure to be met with friendly and welcoming hospitality! Its the perfect go to after a little shop in town when you get a bit peckish and are after a quick yet tasty bite. We’re usually served by Joe, Ellie and Charlotte who I’ve never seen without smiles on, they’re super friendly and attentive and always brighten your day! Verso lounge is a lovely little hangout with a diverse and delicious menu as well great service!

Went in at lunch time with my Sister-in-Law for coffee and lunch. 6 people in the room plus 3 front of house staff. I have been ignored before but never so blatantly, none of the staff acknowledged my presence or made any attempt to engage me or reassure me that they would be with me as soon as possible. I waited at the bar for over 5 minutes and was passed by a few times by staff who could not apparently see me so we left and spent our £25 on lunch at the Swan in town centre. I get sometimes your very busy at lunch but ignorance in the service industry is unforgivable and I won’t be quick to return. Shame as it used to be friendly!

Just home from a lovely night in the Verso Lounge, Stafford where we are regular visitors as it is great to be able to take our dog along as well. It was pretty busy in there with a couple of large parties in for early Christmas celebrations and when we arrived, only a couple of free tables.

A group of 5 of us went to verso last Saturday evening. The weather was dreadful so it was very quiet in there.

Lovely atmosphere and team were very welcoming. We asked for some adaptations to our food as we both are following the keto diet- the team were very happy to oblige. Food was excellent, exactly as per our dietary requests, and great value.

We really like this place and the staff are always friendly and helpful. But, and it’s a big but, we will stop coming here because the speed of food service is consistently poor, and often appalling. I mentioned this in a previous review and I get there are occasions, like Mothers Day, when it is very busy but on ‘regular’ days there really is no excuse.

We visited this evening for my sons birthday, when we tried to place our order for the burritos we were told they did not have the beef that evening so we opted for the chicken instead (big mistake) One of the burritos arrived extremely dark and crispy the other very pale and soft???? I think the chef forgot to put the chicken in, one piece in each. They were terrible, my sin had the pulled Jack fruit burger and it was a disgusting slimey mess. It was extremely cold in there and we sat and ate our food in our coats and so did a lot of other dinners by the look of things. We were not asked how our meal.was. We were hoping for desert but changed our mind after the main course. We willl not be returning and it is a shame as the place itself is great.

Have been in here a few times, especially at lunchtime as across the road from work. We only get 30 mins and if you want a hot drink, they don’t give this to you at the time of ordering. You have to wait for staff to bring it over, which can take a good 10 mins, so on some occasions have had to ask for them to hurry up with the drinks. I think they need to look at their staffing levels @nd how the drink situation is managed

I've been to a few "Lounge" restaurants, they're generally pretty good - this one is awful.

I just celebrated our 9 year anniversary breakfast here with my partner. I called yesterday to ask if they would put on some candles for us or something... they covered the table in rose petals and Roses, got us a card wishing us a great day AND a complementary glass of mimosa each! I am so thankful and happy with how we were treated! I will be a reoccurring customer and will recommend to ANYONE who is looking for something special! the customer service is exceptional!
