Great app, great food/drinks and highly efficient and pleasant staff, however this place is FILTHY. I don't think the tablets are ever thoroughly cleaned and everywhere was grubby. WHY don't Wetherspoons have their own nightly industrial cleaners? I love the brand but each time I in one I'm dismayed at the level of cleanliness. When I went to get my drink I placed my food on the side by the machine and all of a sudden a load of Bluebottle flies landed on it, it made me feel sick. I despair of this country, everywhere is so dirty and staff appear to be happy to play on their phones rather than do any cleaning.

Usually I love this place. It is lively, friendly and the food is great. However, on two occasions I have ordered on the app and had the wrong beer! The problem seems to be the name tags if the cask ales are on the customer side. Staff perhaps cannot see what ale they are pouring?

Visited today. My husband autistic child were playing and accidentally knocked a drink over and broke a glass. The manager approached and told them to stop messing around and proceeded to wipe the drink all over my lap whilst making snide remarks. He was rude confrontational and patronising. Apparently you’re not allowed to have fun with your children at this Wetherspoons. Shame the Butlers bell shut down as it was much friendlier!

Null points. Burns night today 25th January. I wished to eat the haggis, needs, and tatties only to be told at the bar ordering before one o'clock that they had run out. Very disappointed. It seems to me that Wetherspoons is losing its way.

My wife and I called in the picture house Stafford today and looking forward to a nice meal after a hospital appointment in Stafford, the pub itself was amazing. I ordered a Sirloin steak and a coffee for my wife and a mixed grill and a pint of worthingtons for myself at table 41, I requested both meals medium cooked and what we got was disgusting, Both meals overcooked especially my mixed grill it was uneatable the chicken you couldn’t cut it it as it was that over cooked, the other meats on the plate were completely burnt and uneatable the jacket potatoes were over microwaved and you could not cut through the skin as it was solid, the peas and mushrooms were cold and we both left our meals as in photo. I politely complained to an assistant who could only say sorry.our drinks were perfect but we will not ever use one of Wetherspoons pubs ever again.

I've been there times, the first time, the manager was incredibly rude and had zero customer service skills, the second time, they forgot to bring my food out and the third time I ordered a hot chocolate and biscuit and they assumed that I'd walk to the bar and make my own drink instead if just bringing it to me! After 20 minutes I went to investigate and discovered the assumption! Great food but terrible customer service

We always look for a Wetherspoons whrn viditing sn area and this one dud not disappoint. What a fabulous place, and it does look as if films are actually shown here from time to time. It's still bears all the hallmarks of the original picture house, we were amazed when we walked in. Food is the usual Wetherspoons standard and we were lucky enough to arrive in time for the,afternoon special prices. Both drinks and food came very quickly, staff very friendly, a great experience

This conversion by Wetherspoons of a former picture theatre into a pub has to be commended. Perhaps it saved the building. I was there from about 1800 to past 1900 on a blustery late September 2023 early evening with intermittent light rain. Not the first choice weatherwise for a night out. My salad with bacon and chicken was well curated and delicious but the chicken pieces were fairly small. It came with a Pepsi. The apple crumble with a small amount of ice cream was a larger serving. The interior is atmospheric. Staff were pleasant. The pub is less than 12 minutes' walk from Stafford railway station with its excellent frequency and standard of trains.

I would rate this visit a zero star but unfortunately I can’t. Waited at the empty bar - emphasis on empty we were the only people there. I waited patiently to be served and then three men came up and were served immediately. The server had split dyed hair pink and green. Pretty sure name was Kimberley. She was very rude to us when she eventually came over. she only noticed us because another member of staff (who I presume is manager) pointed us out. She came over and said “what do you want” Very disappointed in this service and think she should not be working in this industry it was disgusting.

Great place with good cheap food and drink, best spoons in town other is nice but this one is the better one. Orders come quick and staff are always nice even when they’re rushed off their feet. Great place for friends, family or even a solo drink and meal

Arriving at 1145hrs I requested the Eggs Benedict, and was surprised to be told that it was not available. I then chose the ordinary breakfast, which was served prompt,y and was tasty and well-prepared. The toast was not buttered, and I requested butter at the bar, which was readily supplied. The venue was busy, and staff were serving diners and clearing tables promptly. It would be helpful if the venue management responded to Tripadvisor reviews, rather then merely ignore them.

the staff took advantage of the fact that we were young customers they were very rude to us and made snarky comments not only when we were standing right next to them but to our faces aswell. staff looked extremely underage and clearly immature.

Nothing great food wise but loverly venue. Can we order food, yes was the reply along with a silence. Having taken 3 attempts to explain a plain Chicken burger we asked for pizza, sorry no pizza's. Would ut not have been better to say the at the start. We would have just turned and walked away

Shocking service. Ignored by barmaid at bar whilst she continued to serve customers arriving after me and my friend. When I spoke to her about t his , she just smirked and ignored me. Manager not much better when I tried to discuss this with her. I have been in other weather spoons which have been very good

Respectable couple in the 60s having a quiet drink on a Saturday night. Team Leader no less, without asking, clears drinks that are clearly unfinished by sticking his fingers into the glasses. I remonstrated with him as no apology given or offer of replacements, and then he tries to snatch my glass out of my hand, so I told him to get the manager. He calls the security instead. I tell security to get the Manager, and when she turns up the Team Leader claims I swore at him which I did not, and told the Manageress he is lying to cover his error. She chooses to believe him as he was “upset” and would not look into my complaint further. She has no interest in the fact that I am clearly unhappy. Basically the Management of this pub has no interest in customer service and treats its patrons as an inconvenience. The Manageress is incompetent, as is the Team Leader, who is also a bare faced liar. Luckily I don’t live in this dump of a town and would be going back anyway.

Went with friends for the Burns night supper on 25 January plenty of specialist Menus on each table Went to order at the Bar only to be told The menu is off due to no ingredients . Why heavily advertise a menu that cannot be provided

Ordered 3 pizzas along side some sides to go with & some drinks on the app, after ordering from the app outside I came STRAIGHT to the bar to tell the bar staff I had moved tables (we were sat by the river & there was lots of wasps) & I also did not want onions on the one pizza as it was for a child. I waited at the bar for a few minutes as there was a few gents that got served before me which I didn’t mind as they were obviously regulars & the staff knew what they we’re having. I then told a man behind the bar with dark hair & a beard that I did not want red onion on one of the pizzas, he said ‘if he’s already started cooking I can’t change it’ then he walked away & left my drinks on the bar. Which was fine I took my own drinks over, even though I used the table service app. But what I would like to add is when I got to the bar I could see their screen & my food had been on for just a minute. By the time I was seen to it had been on for 4 minutes. So of course after all of this, the pizza came out with onions on, I explained to the lovely lad that served us that we would like it without onions so he took it back to the kitchen and then the manager on shift brought the same pizza back out & argued with me I didn’t tell the bar in time I wanted no onions!! and she said she wouldn’t swap it nor give us a refund because she said we told them too late! Baring I’m mind I came to the bar straight away. It wasn’t my fault the staff chose to serve regulars before me even though I was first. I’ve never been back, I will never ever go back, staff are not friendly & management needs some training.

I go in fairly often with my son and/or friends. Prices keep going up but I suppose that's inevitable. Beer, food, service are always excellent.

My pals and I travelled from Cheshire to try the recently renovated Picture House and we were not disappointed, they have managed to retain many of the original cinema features including the box office and a wonderful vaulted ceiling, evidently on Wednesdays they even screen old movies, it’s one of the nicest Weatherspoon’s establishments we have been to, the staff were friendly and helpful so will definitely be returning.

Waited 15 mins for one drink and they could not refund us or give us a free drink for next time we come we had a table book for half 6 and our drinks came at 6:25 so we left in a rush no time to take a pic of it and we had ordered sex on the beach Kaine

Ordered only 1 drink at 18:00 and they were serving more at bar then the iorders and I spent £10 there.

Food was amazing. Went in for breakfast and was not disappointed! The social distancing and cleaning was fabulous. Such a lovely atmosphere. Staff were so lovely and friendly. Will be going again for sure.

We went to experience a film in this lovely old picture house which has been saved by Wetherspoons. The food was up to the usual standard, service was very good and we had the experience of watching the Ghostbusters film as well. The situation was not ideal as the big screen could not be seen very well due to all the lights being on, but you could view it on all the TVs. Some people were just there to have a drink/food and the public noise volume was a little loud to hear the film. However, overall we enjoyed ourselves.

I visited the Picture House last year from Scotland with my wife as our daughter had moved to Stafford with her partner the food and service was amazing .However on our return October 2019 extremely disappointed by the staffs attitude wrong food delivered to our table and after complaining about wrong food we had a receipt thrown on our table and told “ That’s what you ordered “ then waitress stormed of , food was amazing but the front of house staff very disappointing will not be back

This is a typical Wetherspoons based in one of the original Stafford cinemas. Dissapointed that the advertised 'special' a Slaters' had ran out the day before but they hadn't removed the advert. Toilets smelly and requiring a tidy up.

Chips overdone and inedible as was scampi, would have sent back but no point as oil needs changing, use your prep oil guide, plant burger very bland and dry, wrong drink sent up from bar very poor experience

We've been here countless times, as have many people I'm certain.It's always good, never really had a problem with anything. Always friendly, always excellent service, always a wide selection of food on the menu. Always a wide selection of drinks here too. Everything always good value.Sometimes absolutely packed but that's a sign of the success of the Picture House!We tried a local alternative recently; suffice it to say that it was easy to see why that place was deserted whilst Wetherspoons was buzzing.We're going to the Picture House again this evening, and will continue go. Highly recommended.

Although the drinks are reasonably priced, a group of me and some friends were treated with little respect. When we went to the bar to get more drinks, we were told that we weren’t allowed shots, as the team had decided without telling us that one of our group is not allowed a shot. They weren’t unpleasant about it, but I’m unsure as to how they made the decision without a single conversation.

The Picture House opened prior to World War I and showed movies until the 1990s. The building still has the same charm and appeal. You can sit inside in the renovated theatre or outside on the patio. The Picture House offers a full Wetherspoon menu with many different selections for every tastes and dietary need. They also have a full bar. I had the Mangalorean roasted cauliflower and spinach curry. It was wonderful! The dish is served with basmati pilau rice, plain nan bread and poppadums but you can substitute chips for the nan bread.Great atmosphere, fantastic food, and service, The Picture House is highly recommended.

We have been regulars at this place for about 4 years now, but will not be going again. We arrived on Saturday evening around 7pm as a group of 12 for my daughters hen do. We shuffled a couple of tables around so we could all sit together, only to be told very rudely that we couldn’t do that as they needed to get around. We then asked if there was any way we could place the tables so that we could all sit together but not be an obstruction only to be told”this is not the right place for that” We then spoke to the manager who stated he could “probably accommodate us outside but it would be about an hour” We left and went round the corner to Yates who were 100% better, went out of their way to seat us together and even brought us 2 free bottles of prosecco to celebrate! This more than made up for the disappointment my daughter felt and from now on Yates will be our go to place. Shame on you Wetherspoons!

Last night I took my niece for a meal and a drink at this Wetherspoons. The first thing that struck me is how stunning it is, and the fact they have kept so many of the original characteristics- something Wetherspoons are sympathetic towards with old buildings and something that should be applauded. We both opened for pizzas - the new goats cheese and chilli jam pizza was superb. Fantastic combination of flavours and textures. These pizzas give pizza express a run for their money any day of the week, and a fraction of the cost. Highly recommend The Picture House

Hi, I travelled from Crewe to Stafford especially to visit this Wetherspoons to see the film show. A great attraction on a winter Wednesday. This is a great idea in a beautifully preserved old cinema which does them credit. Unfortunately it was spoilt by a couple of details which could fairly easily be corrected. Namely, the main overhead lights and the bar lights could be dimmed during the performance so that the screen would be enhanced. Also the sound could be improved. A gentleman sat by me had travelled from Lichfield for the same reason. See pic below to illustrate my point. I hope they are able to consider my suggestions as I look forward to future visits.

We headed here for a few drinks with friends, and after buying two rounds ended up with out of circulation £10 and £5 notes. We hadn't been anywhere else that evening so it was the only place the out of date money could have come from. We reported it to the manager who seemed very uninterested but said he'd put a notice on the staff notice board. If you visit, check your change!!!

Waited 55 minutes and then went to the bar to ask how much longer for my food. Was told only five more minutes so i ordered another drink and as soon as i got back to the table my food arrived. I'd ordered fish, chips and mushy peas twice but it was cold. Even though this wasn't an expensive meal, i still expect it to turn up hot after a 55 minute wait.

Came here at the start of our night out on a Saturday night, was very busy but was relatively easy to grab a seat.. the decor in this place is brilliant, and I enjoyed just sitting back and looking around. Very cheap for drinks too - 2.80 for a pink gin and lemonade - you can’t not!

Sympathetically restored with lots of film posters and photos around. Even the carpet has a film feel about it. Good food and drink.

Visited for a quick coffee stop and to use the toilets. The ladies was in not a very good state at all. Toilets not clean and surrounding cubicles and skirts were very dusty and dirty. I attempted to try 3 cubicles that were unable to be used. The fourth I managed but a comment was also made from another lady to myself how disappointed we were with the toilets. Not a nice experience.. Ashame because we love this pub and food.

Weatherspoon’s is to be congratulated on saving this beautiful historic building for the good of Stafford. I am not a local, but came here to eat as my daughter is moving into the area.

This pub is a must see in Stafford, converted from an old cinema, but keeping all the old features. We came on a Saturday afternoon and it was very busy but service was quick and standard weatherspoons fare. Would go again when it is not so busy!

Lovely place, the building still retaining all its old features from when it was the picture house. Having stood on the corner of the bar for ten minutes 2 lads had stood there longer I asked a member of staff it we had any chance of being served next, to be told that they don’t serve anyone on the corner of the bar. So moved round and two minutes later got served by the same member of staff. There should have been a sign saying that there was no service at the corner. The place was extremely busy and could have done with more staff on. Prices were good.

A very well done out Old cinema for the means of A rest bite,food and drink. Lots of well positioned tables in a very big old cinema. The Interior is excellent. The service is very good and friendly. The men's toilets how ever need attention. The cubicle I used had a jammed toilet tissue dispenser. The meals wre of a very good standard apart from the portion of chips. The portions we had are ok for children but adult meals the option of having a extra handful of chips wpuld have made the visit perfect. The customer value of this choice would enhance and give the chain they belong too extra custom as well as increase an already very good reputation as a social meeting place for couples, friends families and business relationships. Over all thoug a great chain of dining and drinking places.

We visited for the first time today, and what a good choice that was. The food was really good, and the service was brilliant. The layout of the pub is really tidy and comfortable, I felt at ease. Only little negative was the stock, they had no fruit salad and ice cream which is unfortunate as I am a coeliac, and this is the only desert i can have. However, this does not stop me from providing a 5/5.

So today we came here for breakfast we normally use this pub often .... how ever we paid 1.80 for a large PEPSI this had that much ice is we was unable to drink so ask for some ice to be removed and just topped up the lady refused and said she wasn't aloud the manager made her fill with ice like this .... we spoke to the manager who stated of you want a Pepsi then buy one ... we stated we had got 2 one that the other member of staff agree was far too much ice in and changed it but they hadn't done the other manage took drink and came back ... he was really rude to us so I just explained there was no need to be so rude to us he then raised his voice at us I asked for him name as I wanted to make a complaint about the way he spoke to us ... he told us my name the manager look at my badge holding the badge to my face .... and then said I am going as I am not interested in this and walked off not the sort of customer service that's needed .....

On a CAMRA real ale tour of Stafford and after our first pub was a disappointment, so opted for Wetherspoons as its always a good pint. Sat outside in front of the pub and got talking to the locals. After 10 mins the whole of the tables had joined in our conversation and we had a great hour there. Some people travel quite a long way to sit there and people watch.

My late father was a projectionist at The Old Picture House when it was A cinema. Weatherspoons have retained the character of the Cinema. Tasty Appetising food at competitive prices.

Came here with a work colleague for a quick lunch. Ordered the fried buttermilk chicken burger and it was great. Simple not over complicated and you get what you pay for. Cannot fault the service here as it is always polite and quick. Amazing value for money every time..

This pub is amazing with a real atmosphere. From the outside it still looks like an old cinema from perhaps the 1930s and then the building and décor inside are amazing. It feels like stepping back in time but with today's Wetherspoons menu and prices. then outside, to the side of the pub they have a great terrace by the river so you can enjoy the outside delights too. Loved it.

It’s a lovely place, makes you realise how lovely the old picture houses were..... very nostalgic!!! Well worth a visit. The building is the attraction, the staff and food is typical Wetherspoons ☹️

An old cinema house, beautifully remade as a pub. The beer is good, breakfast also. Lunch mediocre , lots of fat stuff. Friendly staff

We arrived around 2pm and the establishment was relatively quiet so we found a table easy however a large amount were dirty with glasses and plates still left on them. I sat down whilst my partner went to order, whilst they were at the bar ordering one person was serving despite a large line forming, they were pushed in-front of by a large group of men, the woman serving clearly noticed her but served the men anyway... after 15 minutes we walked out.

This is a really unique building. The service was really quick and the food was of a very good standard. It was very busy for a Friday night however the service was very quick bringing the food out. Will return

Went for breakfast whilst the wife ran Stafford half marathon and I was disappointed. A bacon sandwich from Spoon’s used to be satisfying, good bread and generously filled with bacon. On this occasion I received an insipid bread roll containing one limp slice of bacon....

Visited for lunch. Order arrived but one meal incorrect server blamed a ' mis communication ' with a very disrespectful attitude. Chips were very brown and tasteless and panni had very little filling. Have eaten here before and always good but today was well below...

We have visited this pub on many occasions and always been quite happy. However today we were served by the missy disinterested member of staff ever. She was leaning on the bar as if standing was too much work. I ordered a gluten free curry....

I came to the picture house and ordered an Empire State burger and it was brought over by whom I assume was a manager as she was wearing her own clothes.... take one bite of my burger and it’s burnt; it’s like charcoal... It’s awful!...

Stopped off before train back to London. Orange juice ordered-no ice provided. Bacon roll was really small-other Weatherspoon’s do a proper sandwich now. Eggs benedict was awful! Really small. Muffins soggy and hadn’t been toasted-hollandaise sauce was really watery! Never again!

6.25pm , no steaks available. No alternatives offered. Very poor for steak night. Totally wasted evening travelling to Wetherspoons pubs...

Arriving a 1425hrs the bar was unstaffed, and I waited a few seconds for a friendly staff member to emerge from the kitchen area. My order was taken promptly, and served within a few minutes. The meal was very tasty and well presented; the sausages in particular were delicious. My soft drink was a J20; disappointingly the venue did not sell the seasonal Glitterberry flavour. . I also picked up a copy of the Wetherspoons journal, which is always a worthwhile and entertaining read. All the staff I encountered were enthusiastic and friendly.Overall a very good meal, and I can unreservedly recommend this venue. I can remember it as a cinema; all the atmosphere has been retained, and on certain occasions films are still shown.

We went to The Picture House yesterday lunch time and have to say what a lovely well run establishment it is. The place was full but the meals were brought out quickly, well cooked, the empties were cleared away without delay. The manager, Dave, is a credit to your organisation.

First visit here and came just for drinks. Massive place and it was packed so clearly popular. Drinks were really reasonable and service was friendly and efficient.

Had a really enjoyable breakfast at the Picture House. The food was great, well presented, tasty and lots of it for the price!! We were served really quickly after our order had been placed, the staff were extremely helpful. We were there about 11.15 to 11.30 am the place was full!!! The surroundings are fantastic, great care has been taken to preserve a lot of the original features of the building's interior. Plenty of film memorabilia to look at. All in all, an enjoyable experience, not only for the food but also to get the little grey cells working to identify the film stars in some of the photographs arranged around the area! Well worth a visit!!

I have eaten here numerous times whilst working in Stafford. Food has been consistently good through my stay with the usually set days for Steak, Curry and Chicken. Food is served quickly no matter how busy the restaurant. Beers are well priced too. Will happily eat and drink here again. All food and drink can be ordered to your table via a Westherspoons app too! Although there is hardly ever a queue at the bar. Worth a look, if not for food at least enjoy the transformation of the theatre!

Only recently visited for food after previously going a few times in the evening for drinks. It was a nice meal and the staff were nice, it's pretty much what you can expect from the chain and is of similar quality to the other branches, however, it is a really nice building and a nice setting for lunch or a quick bite to eat.

Ordered the new pulled beef burger. What I got did not match the photo. Sent it back once still did not match the photo. Sent it back and refunded the cost. It's ok staff saying that's the portion. The photo should not entice you with a lot of pulled pork when you get a tiny amount. Absolutely let down. Spoilt our meal as the other half ate alone. I really like weather's but this con is one yo many. Harvester her we come.

The Stafford JD Wetherspoons is a must to visit if only for the way an elaborate old cinema has been lovingly converted into a huge and busy pub. The original cinema pay desk has been retained in the entrance hall as well as the film projection room, screen and curtains. It was very crowded in the evenings but quiet for breakfast. The walls are decorated with dozens of old movie posters. The food and drinks were up to Wetherspoons standard of quality at a remarkably low price but it is the building that makes this a 'must' when visiting Stafford.

The Picture House is a great example of how an old building can be restored and put to another use. The look of the pub is fantastic and is one of the most beautiful pubs in the UK. This coupled with a good range of cheap drinks means the Picture House is a must visit if in Stafford.

Ordered squashed advocado with chips hardly any advocado on it bun not toasted chips passable partners chicken burger bun stale and chicken on bun cold chips cold worst meal ever had here if we are I'll be back tomorrow

had breakfast was really fresh. hot anf plenty of it ... coffe and some toast with jam the staff were friendly and tentive and the place is very clean . nice and quite

Ordered the steak and Kidney pudding and it came very cold. We also ordered the Shanghai noodles as I am a vegetarian, they came with a large piece of chicken on top when chicken is an extra £1.50. Somewhat disappointed.

Visited with the family for a meal used Wetherspoon many a time so knew what we were going to get cheap and cheerful but hits the mark

Went for lunch with elderly parents, they love the sharing platter, this was no exception. We had a great lunch at a decent price. I'm Coeliac and always find something to enjoy on the menu, jacket with tuna this time. This is a very sympathetic conversion of an old cinema an one of the nicest Wetherspoon's visited. They still show films some nights.

We visited for breakfast. I had the traditional breakfast and my wife the breakfast wrap with a tea & coffee. All was lovely and tasty with quick service. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a breakfast

Small microwave meals. Come out cold most of the time. The breakfasts have always have something missing. The carpets are sticky and it stinks
