Disorganised. Tables being sat and told of table service but then no one taking orders or giving out menus. Tables were putting hands up to catch the eyes of servers. When people were going in to order due to waiting so long, a server was quite rude. Our drinks came 20 minutes before food. Our order came and both were wrong. Then had to wait another 15 minutes to correct the order. When we did eat, it was ok but not worth the money,

We came after a recent flood and after ordering 3 club sandwiches which come with chips and a cheese toastie with an added portion of chips we were told the chip fryer was broken so chips were not available. Nevertheless, we were charged FULL price for the 3 club sandwiches with NO chips and more disgustingly we were charged an extra £4.90 for chips we did not receive. See the receipt. There are other tea rooms in Bradford on Avon that are worth visiting and you wont get ripped off.

Absolutely awful …. They had nothing on the menus which we wanted and when we ordered you will see what we got on the photos.we waited 1hr 20 mins to get it too!!! The staff kept saying sorry and said no staff in the kitchen - well you should say you can accommodate food then! We only paid for our drinks as the food, waiting time, attitude was appalling!

I went down to the Canal Tavern with a few friends this week - we were looking forward to it reopening, and were expecting a warm welcome and to hear some songs from the shanty crew (as they'd advertised it) which is always a fun and lively evening. But for some reason the pub had decided to put on an open mic night instead. It was pretty awful, about 6 people in the pub, 4 of whom were either performing or waiting to perform. The new landlord had made a big deal of the pub being for the community, and offering something different, supporting live music, etc etc. But a big part of the community in BoA is the boaters. Who had been turned away! So it seems it was all just empty words. 'Canal Tavern' suggests a cosy characterful place, where boaters, locals and visitors would all be welcome. 'Generic waterside bar with pretentions of being a restaurant' is a more accurate description. And the cheek of advertising 'boaters breakfasts' on the menu! (No decent veggie or vegan options either - smacks of laziness, and contempt for a good proportion of their potential customers...) After 5 mins at the Canal Tavern, we followed the singers to the Plough instead, where they'd relocated that evening, and found it packed, the beer flowing, a wonderful atmosphere and welcome - that's where the real character can be found! Avoid the Canal Tavern, unless utter UTTER blandness is your thing.

We had a weekend away in our camper and ended up here served quickly reasonable prices great location with great three tiered garden. Bit off the beaten track though. I don’t know why it has a slew of bad reviews, we thought it was fine 👍s up from me
