Gorgeous little coffee shop with the most amazing cake selection as well as breakfast items/sandwiches/savoury pastries. The cakes & coffees were delicious and enjoyed whilst sat in the sunny gardens. It is a popular spot and there was a queue for a short time but inside the service was friendly and efficient. Highly recommended 😊

I went here last month with my partner thinking it would be just an average British cafe. Fortunately, we stumbled across a gem. All the staff there are lovely, polite and work extremely well as a team. I felt very welcome especially considering my situation. The food and drink was delicious. I had the salad of the week and my partner had one of the sourdough toasties. No regrets there. Furthermore, the cafe, tables, plates etc were clean and well kept. Thank you for the lovely experience, we will definitely be here again.

Number 10 Tea Gardens is an absolute delight and a must-visit for anyone in the area. Tucked away in the charming village of Avoncliff, this little tea garden offers a perfect escape with stunning views of the canal and lush greenery. The atmosphere is serene and inviting, making it the perfect spot to unwind with a cup of tea or coffee. The selection of teas is impressive, with each one brewed to perfection. The homemade cakes and scones are to die for—light, fluffy, and full of flavor. You can tell that everything is made with love and attention to detail. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, always ready with a smile and great recommendations. Whether you're stopping by after a walk along the canal or just looking for a peaceful place to relax, Number 10 Tea Gardens will not disappoint. Highly recommend to anyone who enjoys good food, great views, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. We will definitely be returning!

We stopped for food during a canal walk. We chose a toasted wrap and a toasted panini and had half each of both. The fillings were generous and served with couscous salad, coleslaw and leaves. Absolutely delicious and plentiful. The array of cakes gave a very attractive display so we chose a large slice of avocado and lemon which was boxed up for us to enjoy later. The dog enjoyed her ice cream and the staff made a fuss of her. Excellent.

Visited after a wonderful bike ride, tried the pub without realising it was cash only, so went over to the cafe! It was about 2.30pm, so choices were minimal. I had 2 sandwiches and 2 cold drinks £18!!!!! I really wish I had taken my sandwich back after the first bite, but didn’t, it was dry and chewy!! I then had terrible stomach ache for the rest of the day! It really was a disappointing end to a wonderful day.

Cyclists, walkers and boaters are spoilt for choice at the picturesque Avoncliff aquaduct, where the canal and the river meet. The Cross Guns pub directly across the canal from No.10 certainly has the history and the riverside location, but unless you just want a cold beer or whatever, I would not recommend this pub for food. I would however recommend No. 10 for all its food, but mostly its superb cakes. It has a huge selection that offers the traditional (Victoria sponge) and the slightly out-there (avocado cake - delish by the way). I had the ginger cake and a pot of Earl Grey coming back from a cycle the other day. I almost cried as it was just like my mum used to make it. The sandwiches are also extremely nice, interesting and generous. It's not cheap - where is these days? - but No. 10 is well worth a pitstop. In fact I'm not the only Bradfordian I know who walks or cycles down to Avoncliff specifically for the cakes! A real addition to our local food scene for locals and visitors alike.

Lovely little place alongside the canal, perfect to stop for a cuppa. Only open 4 days a week however has the most scrumptious display of cakes to choose from. Well worth a visit. The only downside though is the amount of wasps in the garden which is an absolute nightmare when having a cream tea as they descend and it’s impossible to leave the open pot of jam out. They really need to put out wasp traps to try and help with us as I would but recommend getting a cream tea for this reason. It is all outside seating too.

We pop in here regularly while walking the dog and since they've expanded the breakfast menu it's a delight to stop and stuff our faces mid walk. Previously they did cooked sandwiches but could tailor it a bit if you say wanted scrambled eggs but now you can order a posh brekkie with avocado, poached eggs and awesome bacon. One of the biggest problems we find is that it is impossible to get poached eggs cooked with a beautifully runny yolk in most places. Katie managed to deliver 2 beautifully soft poached eggs despite being under a lot of pressure with a lot of breakfast orders. James gets very sad, understandably, when a poached egg comes out hard so 10/10 for that lush breakfast. MIssing my carrrot cake this week, not enough space for it among the dozen other hand made cakes, all made from scratch on the premesis by Sarah, so real effort has gone into those they aren't bought in. Knowing how much time and effort goes into each cake and getting a decent sized slice I never whinge about the price any more, it's worth it. It's odd how some people will complain about paying £3.50 or £4 for a beautifully crafted, hand made slice of cake but will then happily pay £8 for a dollop of ice cream and a defrosted desert in a restaurant. Honestly, the cake is enough to go for on it's own but breakfast too. I shared the brownie I had as I did not have enough space left after breakfast for that too. Can't recommend it hhighly enough.

We enjoyed tea and cake in the garden of this lovely little cafe set beside the aqueduct. There were three vegan sweet choices - biscoff cake, banana and walnut loaf and a fruit flapjack- as well as a vegan sausage roll and bother options for hot food on the menu board. We wished we hadn’t wasted our time in Bradford on Avon on a dreadful vegan breakfast and had one here instead. The staff were really friendly, the banana and walnut was delicious.

The negative reviews on here are very unjust. Don’t listen to them. Not sure what people expect. It’s an oasis after/during a long walk and just a really nice place to come for some food or refreshment. Perhaps a little on the pricey side (but not really though) but if you know that the place is only open on a limited basis then it makes sense. And the quality is there. The food is freshly cooked in front of you and is fantastic. Never had a problem with service here, in fact quite the opposite. A lovely go to from Bradford on Avon, whether you are a local or a visitor. Can’t fault it, just wish it was open more.

This place has great potential set in a gorgeous position by the canal and River Avon. We’ve visited twice recently - both times it’s been let down by it’s manager/owner, although the young staff are very willing and helpful. Gave them the benefit of the doubt after the first visit - we all have bad days, but honestly, don’t be in the hospitality business if you don’t want to be nice to people! Very inflexible when I asked if it was possible to have a child’s portion of cake for my grandchildren - the answer was a categoric no! The portions are too large for children and cost £3.50 a slice! My cake was ok but my husband’s g/f polenta was a bit dry. Coffee was good but the price for a can of drink was extortionate!! We’ll head to the pub opposite next time!

We came upon this brilliantly situated teahouse on our on ourwalk towards Bradford on Avon along the Avon and Kennet Canal. The day was sunny with a brisk wind which meant that it wasn't very hot but the gardens are immaculate and it's a very dog friendly children friendly establishment.the main person who served us was tightlipped and joyless. I saw her smile once but she seemed to be doing the job under duress or at least not enjoying it at all and she was clearly not interested. If you serve food you should be happy to serve your public.I asked for quiche; but unfortunately it was cold so they left it in the warmer for 10 min but when it arrived it was still cold but never mind it was good to eat though slightly glutinous.I went back and had an excellent latte, with some drizzle cake with cherries. To be fair, the male manager made efforts to smile but I found the whole thing a little bit of a struggle and I do wish people would understand that atmospheres of stress do communicate to the customer. Isn't it worth sitting down behind the scenes and sorting any problem out. After hundreds of reviews I do recognise unhappiness when I see it and I would like to see more spirit of service in this lovely lovely place.25th of March 2017

No. 10 is in a great location, on the route of many of the excellent walks that follow the river or the canal out of Bradford On Avon. We arrived on a lovely, sunny lunchtime, but it was reasonably quiet and we easily found seats in the garden, which provided good views over the river valley and the Avoncliff Aqueduct.Allowing for the fact that the café’s trade must be very seasonal, so stock planning must be difficult, we found the range of drinks and sandwiches on offer, and their prices, to be acceptable. The only slightly jarring note was that the young lady who was staffing plainly didn’t really want to be there. However, her dog, which was loose in the garden, really did - it was clearly used to having customers who wanted to play with it. It was a nice dog, just a little pushy.Overall, if you plan any walks, or you’re on a boat, near Avoncliff, a stop-off here is worth including in your plans.

Having visited many times, I remain dissatisfied with this cafe. In a beautiful location and lovely little building with great potential, the staff and resources really let it down. The fridge where sandwiches, etc. should be is often off and nearly always empty. One day, I arrived at half past 12 and the soup of the day was already all gone, bearing in mind that there were only a few walkers about - where had it gone? On another occasion, a friend I was with asked for a bacon sandwich only for the staff to, rather ignorantly, tell me that they couldn't, and I think something was mentioned about it being one or two minutes past the time at which they stop serving breakfast. I also observed one cyclist who simply wanted a cup of tea to take away, being told that they had ran out of plastic cups. The cakes are nice despite the limited selection and they serve good hot drinks. I find is overstaffed and it seems to take three waiters to make a cup of tea from as far as I can tell. Unfortunately, the staff seem to lack initiative and the whole place seems to be ignorant of its areas for improvement.Despite all of this, I do still stop by occasionally if the pub across the canal, the Cross Guns (which has a much friendlier and efficient attitude), is fully booked as it often is because this cafe is in a beautiful location and the cake and tea do tend to be great. When I go I often think how much it could be improved by more aware and efficient staff as well as actually stocking up! It is decorated really nicely and they do well with the space that they have. But in an area, where a lot of people are locals and everybody is friendly with one another, they really have the wrong attitude.I would just recommend stopping by the Cross Guns for one of their fabulous homemade scones and a hearty cup of tea rather than taking what they have at No. 10.Much potential, but clearly not the initiative to carry it off. Remain disappointed, I'm afraid.

A friendly little place with excellent (and enormous) cups of coffee - there isn't much room inside but there is a large garden so in the warmer months this wouldn't be such an issue. Dogs are welcome too which is a nice touch.

Having had the misfortune to visit the Cross Guns and get scowled at for asking for food and drink we decided on this visit to Avoncliff to have some tea and snacks here instead and was pleasantly surprised, great pot of tea and delicious flapjacks coupled with great service and a warm welcome, will certainly be back and recommend to others, Only criticism is lack of gluten free products but otherwise brilliant.

A great stop for refreshments along the canal. Had hot soup on a cold day which was tasty. Coffee was excellent, a great flat white.

Greeted by happy young couple who served us efficiently even though they were busy. Sat in the gardens overlooking the river and enjoyed hot soup, fresh sandwiches and good coffee. Ideal for what we wanted in muddy boots.

I decided to brave the cold and walk along the towpath in the sun today (Friday) to Avoncliff to have coffee and a bun at No 10. When I arrived the notice said 'OPEN', the lights were on, all the food could be seen out on the counter, but....the door was locked and no staff in sight. There was a notice by the door that said that 'due to unforeseen circumstances' it would be closed 1.5 hours *from* 11:15am. OK, but....I was there at 10:20am! So, what happened then?Sadly, a wasted trip, so difficult to rate the place....... But from previous comments this would appear not to be the first time that customers have gone away disappointed.

We stopped by for a snack, and had a generous portion of really tasty soup, which came with a good-sized chunk of delicious bread. We had eaten something very similar the previous day at a different cafe, where we were given less but had paid more.An unexpected bonus was the discovery that Number 10 serves Dusty Ape coffee, which is some of the best coffee available locally and roasted not too far away. The service was excellent too - all 3 members of staff assisted in bringing our order to our table.

After a sunny walk along the Canal we were in need of a cup of tea. A lovely aroma of cakes being baked and a wonderful display of cakes and scones tempted us into trying the Victoria sponge, quite the most delicious piece of cake I have ever eaten out and a generous slice.Light and moist sponge with just the right amount of jam and creamy butter cream. We will definitely return. I also loved the fact that you could also toast your own bread or tea cakes as I like mine toasted well but my husband likes his under done. Well done to you for such a wonderful place to stop and refuel with a varied selection of treats.

We were attracted to this cafe due to its beautiful location. The cakes were good, but unfortunately the staff don't want to provide anything other than minimal effort. It was sad to see that there was very little stock, and no willingness to make any more. By 1.15, the already limited selection of sandwiches had been almost depleted. The final straw came when I ordered a toasted tea cake, and was directed towards the toaster and told that it was a self service order - which would be acceptable for a much lower price. Overall this is the typical lacklustre business that tourists must despair at when visiting this beautiful area. A true waste of potential.

Experienced these tea gardens with my partner in February 2014 and the food review below is based on that experience! However, we took our 80+ year old parents with mobility problems there on 31 August 2015 (August Bank holiday Monday) for breakfast before going for a canal walk (in wheelchairs). The Bradford on Avon TIC website stated they opened at 01:00, so we arrived there at 10:30, having travelled from Shaftesbury in Dorset, just over an hour away, only to find them shut.Sign on the door said they should have been open from 09:00!!!Having negotiated the narrow service track to the Cross Guns pub just down the road, we had a wonderful breakfast. On our way back up at around 11:15, lo and behold the tea gardens were open!!I stopped and informed the two people slouching behind the counter (nobody else in the place) that if they had opened at their times stated, they would have had five people for breakfast. After our first visit in 2014, I sung their praises far and wide.I will now sing far and wide how unreliable they are!!

We've done the Bath to Bradford on Avon canal walk twice now and stopped here both times. When we visited in November the tea garden was not even open for business, the owner was just doing some gardening but he still stopped and made us tea, which was well received as every other place along the way had been closed. We stopped again in summer and this time the canal walk was busy as was the cafe. We had sandwiches which were served with crisps and salad which unfortunately left no room for cakes. The garden is a lovely place to stop and watch the world go by and the staff are genuinely friendly.

Lovely place to enjoy tea and cake - not always open so check first but a great place for a treat, particularly if you have just done a good canal/river walk!

My partner and I have come here a few times and it is a good place to stop off half way through a canal walk with our two terriers. We usually sit outside, where there's plenty of seating and space. The staff are friendly and there are toilets attached, so quite handy! The only thing I would mention would be the price of a slice of cake - £2.50 for an inch slice of malteaser cake or a slice of Victoria sponge. They are good, but I don't always get a slice, even though I want to, because of the price! In general though, everything is good. A mocha and a hot chocolate was £5 and you get plenty.Overall, a good little café and pit stop but a bit too pricey.

The cafe by the Avoncliff Viaduct serves good food and coffee. Lovely homemade cakes. On a sunny day the garden is great to sit in amidst soft English river scenery.Walk from Bradford on the way to Bath or a round trip from Bradford by the Kennet and Avon canal and watch out for kingfishers.

We visited with our family in July. We ordered a cream tea and there were some scones about to come out of the oven. We decided to wait and it was worth it. My husband and I both agreed it was the best cream tea we had ever had...and we have had a few. The sandwiches were great too, as was the service and the surroundings.

Go for the cream tea! great fruit scones, friendly and helpful staff, a lovely venue to spend a Sunday afternoon and relax with a cuppa by the canal. Will return to sample the other cakes on offer, but will probably need a longer walk!

My wife and I had a longish walk along the towpath and were looking forward to a cup of tea at the tea gardens which had changed hands since our last visit. We thought £2.15 for a mug of tea pretty steep especially as it was counter service for a tea bag and hot water in a mug which I had to fish out and add tea and sugar myself.

A lovely little Tea room set in a great location, well worth a stop for a mid walk beak. It has a friendly welcoming atmosphere, good selection of homemade cakes and enclosed little garden for dogs and children to enjoy. Will definitely be heading back there.

Won’t be back - coffee ok but woeful miserable staff. A smile, a bit of engagement, even eye contact makes a difference - you want to feel welcome rather than an intruder. Surely when money is tight places realise they might have to go that bit extra to encourage people to go back.

Website showed great promise. Kerbside appeal good, car parking good, service very good ( very helpful and friendly). Strange layout inside as its old building, dining room has no bar. Garden not used to its full potential, only very old tired play equipment for children. Food reasonable, 2 out of 3 meals okay. Third meal of chicken disappointing, either poor quality meat or overcooked or possibly both !!!!! Empty on a nice sunny lunchtime !!! Sorry but would not rush back.
