Lucky me coming across this gem. A quiet village.stunning scenery. Lovely welcome. Excellent bacon sandwich. Better than most I have consumed in Oxfordshire. In fact... the best. Sat outside . Village life. Lovely. Wonderful. Yum yum yum.😍

A great pub - with good food and beer - and a very friendly welcome to my group of ramblers. It is a real gem of a pub in the Cotswolds.

What a find, a very quintessential English country pub serving local beers as well as a very stocked back shelf and wine cellar. The welcome is warm and very friendly from the staff and locals alike. Not once did we finish our meals and head home, as we started conversations with the locals and fellow guests, that meant for a very social atmosphere. There is a good lunch menu and a very comprehensive evening menu. I promise you will want to come back to try "something else" off the menu, I know we did and we soon realised that we had to pick either starters & main or main & desert due to the larger portions you receive.

A charming dining experience to match a stunningly scenic town, we were a family of 4 that all found the meal tasty, the drinks thirst-quenching and the service quite hospitable. There's a timeless charm to this place, like you're dining in history aside the mammoth fireplace and amidst art depicting the centuries-old building and it's many uses through the years. This restaurant is split into 3 rooms, one is a live music area and sort of off to the side, one is a main dining area opposite side of the building from the bar and the third is a sit down pub with locals of all ages having a chat while their dogs keep them company. The bar has a wide range of drinks and local beers available, as to be expected in a tied-house. Service was top notch. Friendly, prompt and helpful on suggestions.

We attended a Wedding at Fosse Manor (in their Hyde Barn). The wedding catering was excellent. It is confusing to read the other reviews here as there was no actual restaurant on site that we could see - just the wedding banquet room and adjoining bar. Breakfast however was not good. Pre-cooked under 3 heat lamps and self-service. The tea was very weak even after adding more tea-bags! The breakfast room was styled like a hostel with long trestle tables for lots of guests to sit together, and was extremely noisy. After a night spent in the terrible accommodation here (for which we have written a separate review) we did not enjoy this experience at all. A shame, as the Wedding catering itself was very well done and managed.

Service very slow and more attention to detail on food preparation Swede mash stone cold, outer skins of roast pototies too hard and side dishes too small for our Sunday lunch

Arrived after having a year away to find no tea room and part of the shop (next to the actual water wheel). This is such a shame but I suppose its probably due to visitor numbers falling as nowhere to have a cuppa & snack although there are nearby alternatives that are comparable to what were the high prices. The remaining shop stock has stayed the same items of clothing and tourist pieces. Could do with a revamp, new stock items to breath fresh air into it. Other than that staff friendly as usual.

This brilliant pub off the beaten track is a foodie happiness destination. Dropped in for our lunch on the way home from visiting friends in Shropshire. Fantastic that they have a proper ale rarebit on sourdough with their own brown sauce. The chargrilled pork chop was perfect as was the baked cod on a bed of cassoulet. The dark treacle date pudding with a big mound of clotted cream was a thing of delight. Great staff, good atmosphere and decent car park.

Service was terrible, as if the staff hadn’t been trained - ordered 3 egg mayonnaise baguettes and when they arrived there wasn’t enough egg mayonnaise between them to fill a single sandwich. When we told our waiter they said ‘what should I tell the chef’ as if there wasn’t an issue, and then said ‘well we have had 100 people, it’s hard to cope’. A very large hotel/pub in the Cotswolds on a Saturday should be prepared for - would not recommend, even if the setting is beautiful.
