What a gem, had the most perfect supper here last night with a friend, its a busy place and rightly so, the service was attentive, all the staff were happy and very welcoming but the food was outstanding and we both had desserts which were delicious too.

This pub is food heaven. Absolutely superb fare. I wish I could pick it up and and transport it to my local area. The menu is imaginative, the food excellent quality and beautifully and skillfully prepared. The service is superb, so attentive. Prices are good and the atmosphere great. Wonderful and highly recommended.

We have just returned from an “on the off chance, hope they can fit us in” lunch at the pub whist we were in the area on holiday for a few days. I had read good reviews, and very much liked the look of the menu – but WOW what else can I say. The food was exquisite (lamb for him / souffle for me and plain fish & chips for my mother-in-law – exactly what she wanted). Service was lovely – I hope the new lady who literally only started today enjoys her role, she is very good with people. The front of house gentleman very welcoming, great sense of humour and made us feel very comfortable and at ease with our 2 Westies (one of whom is a little nervous). We have been fortunate enough to eat in many lovely pubs and restaurants over the years, however, upon taking his final mouthful, my husband said ‘I think that’s the best lamb I have ever tasted’ and I think my yums and noises of sheer pleasure as I devoured my souffle said it all. My mother-in-law absolutely loved her completely plain (and child size) fish & chips - very accommodating to do this for her thank you. Fantastic experience today, and the most delicious food – flavour combinations were just perfect. We just wish we lived locally and could visit much more frequently. VERY highly recommend.

Wow. Probably the best roast I’ve had in ages. The beef was perfectly cooked and a lovely selection of vegetables with fantastic cauliflower cheese. The menu is varied and whilst not the cheapest the price reflects the portion size and quality. Highly recommended.

Had Sunday lunch here. It was busy & the staff looked a bit frazzled initially, but were very engaging after we’d sat down. Excellent ales & wine, the roast beef was stunningly good, with filled Yorkshire pud & great mix of veg. Had the sticky toffee pudding (shared it as we were full!) which was also superb. Really really good!!

Starters- soup very tasty, lovely bread boiling hot but really nice. The salmon was superb. Main courses - steak... Best I've ever had. Liver superb, but the lamb pie was quite small and not enough lamb in it but very tasty. Staff were excellent. Quite expensive but then everywhere is nowadays.

This is really good fine dining. Fantastic cooking and lots of things on the menu we wanted to eat. Expensive but worth it. Very pleasant service. Make sure you book ahead of visiting.

The General Manager (Silviu) was very welcoming having known him from his previous position we know he delivers great service! The food was delicious; the range and quality of the dishes all delivered great flavour. Not exactly on a busy road, more so off the beaten track, The Halfway must have been a village pub but is now a good quality food operation. Smallish car park. Food and service were spot on!

First class Sunday roast, delightful service, good value for money. Good walks around. Parking limited. Dogs welcomed. You timeliness matters, as they book two consecutive sittings per table at lunchtime.

The food was good the four of use enjoy it , staff very helpful and pleasant, nice little pub will go back there again for a drink and food but will not pay the service charge as we gave extra tip, as looking at the bill closely so they had 25 pound tip from us .so be aware of the the extra cost they put on . But apart from that very Pleasant.

We stayed very nearby for two weeks and used the Halfway a fair bit. Amazing food and friendly efficient staff. From venison to fish, every dish was beautifully cooked and the black treacle date pudding was fantastic! I recommend booking as it is ,quite rightly, very popular. The halfway is not the cheapest place nor the most expensive but for the sheer quality it is easily the best in the local area.
