We attended a Wedding at Fosse Manor (in their Hyde Barn). The wedding catering was excellent. It is confusing to read the other reviews here as there was no actual restaurant on site that we could see - just the wedding banquet room and adjoining bar. Breakfast however was not good. Pre-cooked under 3 heat lamps and self-service. The tea was very weak even after adding more tea-bags! The breakfast room was styled like a hostel with long trestle tables for lots of guests to sit together, and was extremely noisy. After a night spent in the terrible accommodation here (for which we have written a separate review) we did not enjoy this experience at all. A shame, as the Wedding catering itself was very well done and managed.

Nothing is too much trouble for the Losel sisters. They make sure each guest has everything they need. Highlights for me were the pan fried cod with spinach, perfect lamb, and gorgeous puds. Brian Cutler's mushroom starter is very tasty, his brioche pudding divine. Don't expect to save calories. This is serious food heaven.

Amazing service for the price we paid for two nights. The menu was excellent as well as the service from the waiter who was one of the most welcoming and professional waiters I have ever experienced. The rooms are very nice and fit in with the style of the hotel. Top marks for the waiter and food though!

I don't think I have ever been in a place so lacking TLC. Lunch was only soup and sandwiches delivered by Mrs Miserable. Something's going on here maybe it's about to change hands and all the staff are about to be fired? We used to regularly......I would avoid for the moment.

We stayed at Fosse Manor on Thursday and decided to eat in the restaurant, we were seated at our table and asked straight away if we knew what we wanted to drink or whether we wanted to look at the wine menu, whilst we decided they bought us over a jug of water without us requesting it. We were offered a choice of 3 different types of bread which were large chunky pieces and we were offered more if we wanted any, I ordered the ceasar salad for starter and my husband had the home made chicken liver pate which he said was the best he ever had, I had the chicken for mains which was with local vegetables and was cooked perfectly, my husband had the sirloin steak which he requested to be cooked medium (it is rare to find anywhere that cooks a steak how he likes it but they did), he was even raving about how good the chips were, the only thing we could fault was it lacked a bit of atmosphere which could have been avoided if they had some background music. After we had finished we sat out in the gardens to finish our wine making a nice end to our evening.

Yes, my partner did just that: she said it was absolutely delicious! We had stayed at Fosse Manor Hotel a couple or three years ago, and made a return visit to their first class restaurant for lunch, on Friday, 28th June. The drinks waiter welcomed us in a very gracious manner; friendly but not over-zealous, he seated us and left us to peruse the menu. The food all appeared delicious, and there was an economically priced set menu of 2 or 3 courses. After we'd ordered the Shiraz that the waiter recommended (he came back to check that we were happy with it), the food waitress who took our order turned out to be the charming and efficient Scottish lady we never forgot who'd served us our breakfast on our earlier stay. As my partner delighted in her soup, I tucked into a giant asparagus starter, with poached egg, and then we both ate the fish of the day: plaice. It was succulent and tasty, so soft it almost fell from the bones. I forget what sweet dessert I ate, but as my calorie counting partner glowered enviously at it, my guilty pleasure was complete. The whole meal was an absolute treat; we're glad we rounded off our Cotswold week so pleasurably. I couldn't praise this restaurant too highly - it's excellent.

A quick lunch was all we needed and found just what we wanted at Fosse Manor. The whole place has a wonderful informal feeling to it. The dining area is very well presented and there was a lovely choice on the menu. We chose well and left feeling that our appetites and expectations had been satisfied.

We have been going to this restaurant for the past ten years and it never fails to please. The staff are friendly, welcoming and they always allow us to bring our small dog - Edna - along if we are eating in the bar area of the hotel. Doris and the other staff make a fuss of Edna which she loves! The menu is simple but with a good choice and portion sizes are more than adequate. It often gets quite busy so would always recommend making a reservation in advance.

Over the past years we have visited family in Stow on the Wold and have enjoyed lunch at Fosse Manor. The staff are welcoming and efficient, the menu is varied and interesting, the food is delicious and beautifully presented, the surroundings pleasant. In the summer we usually eat outside with a view of the Cotswold countryside. A meal here represents excellent value for money. Fosse Manor is a beautiful country location within easy reach of the centre of Stow on the Wold.

I booked a table here a week ago for 10 people inc 4 children based on the reviews here and the information on their website. it was a special occasion as it was my parents 40th wedding aniversary and stow on the wold is about half way for the family to meet for lunch.we received a warm welcome from the restaurant staff and was shown into a cosy lounge where we could chat and occupy the kids without disturbing the other guests. our drinks orders were taken and menus given. it was great to have a decent selection of childrens choices that didn't include the pre-requisit of chicken nuggets etc.our orders were taken with care and attention by the staff. when our food was ready we were shown to our table and the starters came followed by a nice well timed break between courses.most of us chose the roast beef main and this was excellent one of the nicest sunday luches out i've ever had.puddings were excellent too, the only note is the mixed berry crumble was huge!! big appetite required.all in all very good meal and service and reasonably priced £12.95 for a main.i would almost certainly go back if i was in the area again.

We went here for our last night out in the Cotswolds with 3 adults and 2 6 year olds. The children had their own menu with starters, mains and puddings just like the adults which they loved and it was decent prices and excellent quality food. The adult menu was small but perfect, the food was amazing and the service was excellent. Well worth the money.

A great hotel spoiled by a dismal dinner experience with food that simply did not live up to the claims. I dined here in October and had one of the very best risottos I have ever eaten. This was a wild game risotto and simply sensational. The favors were wonderful. Eating at the country hotels can be hit and miss but this place has a good deal going for it. My brother and I stayed at the hotel, and were very pleased with our rooms. We hadn't intended to dine there, having planned a sortie farther afield that evening, but it was bitterly cold and we'd been out all day so we felt like comfort food. That was exactly what we enjoyed in this very pleasant restaurant. The service was a tad slow for us, that evening, initially. A party who came in well after we did were served bread before us - the staff explained that this was because they had already ordered their meal while in the bar. I really don't care. We were ready to order and would have welcomed the nibbles after a day legging it around the area. This type of thing is just poor form and inattentive - so is lecturing the diner on why it happened. But having received the bread and given our order, all went well, and I did not have a single regret about my meal. I had smoked salmon for an appetiser and was delighted to receive a good portion of very robust salmon, well cured and exceptional in flavor and texture. So often an appetiser of this type is really pathetic - this one was everything but. However the main course was the real standout, so good I can still taste it. If you find that risotto on the menu when you sit down to dine here, don't miss it. We had a chocolate thing for dessert, which I don't remember terribly well as I was so blown away by the risotto. But my dining companion was very happy with it, as was I. The dining area is quiet and very comfortable, and this is the kind of place I would take Mom to and know she'd love the food. The choices were thoughtful, not too many of them - in fact, a slightly wider menu would have been a plus. There were some of the usual suspects for those who prefer to keep life simple and eat a roast, but there were also some far from boring choices - yet nothing pretentiously adventurous. The meal was a tad pricey, but not a disappointment in quality. I would eat here again very happily.

Last weekend we had a family meal at the Fosse Manor and enjoyed excellent food and service. In addition, I must make specific mention of the care and thought taken in respect of the food allergies my wife suffers from. When booking I mentioned these and on arrival the staff had providing a personalised menu for her and ensured all the serving staff were aware. This was done in a discrete way and made eating out a pleasure as she was able to relax, knowing the staff as well as the chef, knew about the issues involved. I think the greatest compliment is that she was able to feel 'normal' whilst eating out!Overall: wonderful location, lovely atmosphere, quality food and friendly service.
