Este pequeño salón de té (ahora conocido como Ashwell and Co) es una joya absoluta! Muchas gracias al equipo por acoger el té de la tarde más maravilloso para mi cumpleaños. Absolutamente todo era casero y tan delicioso! Había un par de nosotros con necesidades dietéticas especiales: soy vegano y uno de los participantes tiene necesidades médicas, lo que significa que están en una dieta limitada. Esto no desconcertó en absoluto al equipo: me proporcionaron un té vegano por la tarde y se esforzaron por incluir a la otra persona en mis celebraciones. El salón de té es parte de una tienda que está llena de la más maravillosa selección de ropa vintage y artículos para el hogar. Mientras estuve allí me compré un precioso cardigan de punto que es perfecto para los meses de otoño/invierno. Así que en general salí muy feliz y disfruté mi cumpleaños a fondo. Attended the Tuscan cookery class last night after receiving vouchers for Christmas. What a delight this experience was. Superb host with a friendly, efficient team supporting. Relaxed atmosphere, easy to follow instructions. We created some really tasty dishes, made with the finest ingredients. At the end of the night we ate our dishes and even took a doggy-bag home! Went into the pub after our football match, and what a place. Tv screens everywhere, loads of space for everyone, but most importantly great service. The staff were all friendly and very helpful. This will be our go to pub from now on.

Pedí la patata especial de la chaqueta del chef con gambas en salsa Rose Marye. Las gambas eran en realidad camarones, no es lo mismo. Y la salsa era pobre. Cuando planteé esto con el pub más tarde, el chef (también el propietario así que saque sus propias conclusiones) fue bastante grosero y muy a la defensiva. Insistiendo en que eran gambas. No lo eran. No regresaré pronto.

We hired The Eldon House for our engagement party, and it was absolutely perfect. With 80 guests, the venue provided a fantastic atmosphere and catered us with a mix of bread, cheese, and charcuterie. Izzy was brilliant—so warm and welcoming—and she went above and beyond to make the evening special. She even gave us a free drink on arrival to congratulate us, which was such a lovely touch. We were able to rearrange the space exactly how we wanted and brought our own party lights and used their PA system for the music. Although some locals were using the main bar initially, after about an hour, our guests filled the whole pub, creating an amazing vibe. Izzy was also incredibly accommodating—she let us drop off things early and kept them safe overnight so we could collect them the next day. We brought our own cake, which was no problem at all. Communication throughout the process was easy and no question was too small. Everyone had a fantastic time, and it truly felt like a hidden gem for hosting a party. We wouldn’t hesitate to use The Eldon House again in the future. Highly recommended!

Whilst my wife attended the vegan cheese making course down at River Cottage HQ, I set up camp at the cafe to work. I reserved a table in advance (lucky I did as its Mothers Day weekend and they are very busy), and they have allowed me to stay all day…so I have decided to try all their vegan options. Started off with the wild mushrooms, lemony hummus and sourdough toast, followed later by the chocolate and beetroot tart (oh my word! So light and refreshing!) and just finished off the Parsnip Soup, which was a thing of beauty and tasted amazing. The staff have been so lovely and welcoming and it’s been such a lovely environment to sit and work. I think I might come back next weekend, maybe with the dog.

I have been frequenting the bar since I moved close to the neighbourhood. While no thing can be perfect, the staff here is amazing! The tender named Yashi is the one i encounter the most behind bar and I love her. Great conversation, great service and great drinks. What more can I ask from a bar?
