The best restaurants serving British food in St Michael Winchester South East

I had not visited in a while. With so many new eating establishments in Winch now days I was reluctant to go back to my all time reliable Monde! I’m so glad I did though! Such a warm welcome! Nothing too much trouble for Phil and his team. The place felt warm, friendly and absolutely timeless. Just love Monde, its food, service and ambience are what will keep me coming back.

Really friendly helpful staff . Two young men one called Jack served us all afternoon. We had lovely food and drinks . V accommodating with the table for the rugby . Thanks guys

We book a table for all the Six Nations games every year. Staff members are superb, accommodating and welcoming. Fantastic atmosphere always, excellent selection of beers and the food is awesome too!

Amazing food and portion sizes. We had a crunchie cookie sandie and a caramel brownie. They were both quite sweet so we could only eat half at a time. But the flavours were amazing 🥹

Visited on a Saturday. Staff were friendly. There was some parking available on site - careful with street parking as some is limited to an hour. They have a great selection of beers on tap. The wood pigeon was nice - always good to try something different. Be about a fish is lovely nice crispy batter and served with a huge portion of chips. The lock fire was really nice as you can see from the photo of my dog they are dog friendly too, inside as well as the beer garden outside of course.

Visited again, this time on a cold January Saturday afternoon. Welcoming bar staff, cosy log fire and good beer. Lots of small areas in this quirky pub to sit, chat, drink and enjoy. Good beer garden too. A proper pub! Independent! NO robotic chain pub decor, drinks, staff.

Just lovely from start to finish. Booked 3 days before as we had the dog in tow. Warm cosy fire. Food wonderful. Staff very friendly and helpful Can highly recommend Sunday Lunch. Roast beef melted in your mouth x

Met with family in Winchester for a meal. It took a while to find a pub to get booked for 6. We had Sunday lunch today. It was brilliant! And it tasted homemade rather than from the freezer. Between us we had the nut roast, roast beef, lasagna and fish pie. Excellent and generous helping of vegetables and roast potatoes.

Advertising themselves as a sports bar/European cup showing pub with flags everywhere. Turned up with several friends to watch a game along with multiple people in the bar, no commentary on the game, only music!!! Several attempts to get the music turned down met by “we have to ask the landlord’s permission”! Crap atmosphere & even worse management. Won’t be going there again.
