We visited for a childfree birthday breakfast treat, quant little bakery downstairs, warm and welcoming cafe upstairs. Staff extremely friendly with great service. Food was good value and arrived quickly, tasting great. Highly recommended

Unfortunately for us, we had a group of 8 seated in the back next to a very happy group that was so loud we could barely hear, and the serving staff seemed flustered and overwhelmed. Food was slow coming and two out of the orders were so poorly prepared they required attention from the staff.

A good menu, well cooked (and one the best steak and ale pies I have tasted for a long time). Pleasant venue with atmosphere. Imaginative wine list and well-kept beers. However, the high spot was the service. The service was faultless; friendly, welcoming but also efficient. We will be back, and maybe stay over next time.

We have eaten here and found the food really good unfortunately our visit today wasn't. The soup was a bowl.of chicken and peas with little fluid and a burnt breadstick. The main was terrible the pork was completely dry the beef was dry and overcooked the carrots were burnt the roast potatoes were burnt on one side and anemic on the other the gravy was spot on. The desert of sticky toffee pudding was cold and the sponge wet. Let's hope it was because we ate a bit late or just the food has gone down hill.

Pub is much bigger than it appears, there is a separate building to the rear and a large beer garden. Lovely atmosphere and comfortable to spend some time in. Great pints on tap. Had the tikka masala to eat….could be the best pub curry I’ve ever had!! Tasted fresh and ‘clean’ - really impressed. Prices seemed on a par with those in the local area - not exactly a bargain, but my meal was worth every penny!

The quality of food was rather disappointing. Rump steaks were have ordered were literally burned to coal. Portions were also surprisingly small as for adults. Not to mention the length of awaiting for food. Generally nice place but some improvements would be very welcomed.

I don't usually write reviews but feel compelled to after attending a function this last weekend. The setup was lovely, staff great as could have been considering, and DJ wonderful. Unfortunately all that doesn't matter when the food was so horrid and the GM was running away from any responsibility. We were served RAW chicken, the veg was raw too, even though not everyone received veg. The food was stone cold and the evening buffet appeared to be frozen in places. We asked to speak to the GM who should've been on top of things, in this case damage control, we were told by the waitress he couldn't be found. Cowardly if you ask me, no wonder they only have a 1 food hygiene rating, I think they deserve 0. In my opinion the chef and GM need sacking.

Unfortunately NOT serving lunch any more! NO PIES :( Only two real ales on, London Pride and Proper Job with crisps. Staff were friendly and attentive, shame, probably too many pubs in Thame?
