This is a lovely place...we had breakfast here...the food was all cooked fresh and the service was swift... it's quite a large place but feels quite intimate... spotlessly clean and very well run...we will return..

Went for Sunday lunch with high expectations only to be disappointed Service extremely poor Some of the food was good -- the cod dish for example but the porchetta was poor fatty and no crackling The deserts flattered to deceive A nice location but the service not up to the standard required

We had lunch here today for my birthday. The staff are very friendly and service was excellent. The food was soooo good. Highly recommend the beetroot and goats cheese mousse starter. The whole meal was delicious. Will certainly return.

We had a fabulous breakfast enjoying the continental and hot food , the staff made us feel very welcome and took photos for us nothing was too much trouble . We will definitely stay here again , great hotel.

My friend and I visited Esme's for breakfast during our stay in Brockenhust to visit the New Forest and Hampshire County Show. I enjoyed a very delicious cooked breakfast on both days and my friend was tempted by toasted teacakes and toast with jam. Had some great chats with Storm and her colleagues! On our final morning, we were tempted to take home some deep filled chocolate cookies which had just been put on display on the counter....scrummy! Lovely display of other cakes and bakes too, but the cookies were definitely a winner. Looking forward to returning again next year!

We had afternoon tea with gin and tonic. We arrived late but the team were happy to accommodate us and still serve us afternoon tea. No one came to see to us - we were sitting out of the way and late. Really impressed that after this slight hiccup the manager came over to apologise. The service was excellent. The food delicious, especially the warm and fluffy scones. We enjoyed different treats overlooking a lush and cozy garden. Recommended.

Ive called in to Montys a few times and have always received a very warm welcome, sometimes it's been quite busy but always welcomed with a cheerful smile. I popped in tonight and I must say how charming the bar staff were. Thank you Lisa and Harry for a pleasant hour with your passing chats and great service

We chose to stop here specifically as there was a rapid charger for our EV. The grounds are relaxing and quiet. The conservatory restaurant had a good atmosphere and the service friendly and courteous. We had the Gnocchi and Ploughmans for lunch. Both were very tasty and well presented. Puddings were light and refreshing. Prices are not cheap but good food is worth paying for. Having tried out the restaurant and general ambience we are very likely to arrange a weekend break here soon.

We tried the Foresters Arms on our second of three nights staying in Brockenhurst and ended up going on the next evening too. The food was the best pub food we’ve had for a very long time. We had the steak and Guinness pie on the first evening which was fabulous. Served hot with plenty of vegetables and a very good gravy and chips. We decided to try the ribeye steak on our last evening and we were not disappointed. It was cooked exactly to our liking and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Again served with freshly cooked veg and chips. The staff noticeably take pride in this establishment and glassware and cutlery are spotless. Tables were thoroughly cleaned as soon as customers left them. The Manor Shiraz went down well too. We will definitely be returning when we are next in the area.

Lovely old traditional pub in a beautiful part of the New Forest. Great atmosphere, friendly helpful staff, delicious food at reasonable price. Never disappoints.

Spent an enjoyable 3 nights at Balmer Lawn but not sure we'd stay again. Hotel is quite local to us and a place we are familiar with and in lovely location in heart of New Forest. Staff were very friendly and attentive, breakfast was good with plenty of choice, dinner in the restaurant was very good, use of local produce always a bonus. However, we thought our room on the top floor was very drab and certainly not what we would expect from a 4* hotel. It was also noisy as above the outside terrace area and facing the very busy through road. Housekeeping was very good but there was no mini fridge to keep drinks cold or safe for valuables. The bathroom was small and having to climb into a bath to shower is not acceptable or safe. I did raise the issue of poor quality pillows and having a nice fluffy pillow would add to sleep quality.

Wonderful experience! Food was brilliant. Argentinian asado cooking with an asian twist. We want to do it all again next year!
