Great place to stop off in the New Forest for a meal snack or afternoon tea etc It looked as though it had closed down last time I was in Brockenhurst

Disappointing experience. Came here years ago and it was a lovely cafe back then. Revisited today with family. Was completely ignored when we came in and stood at the entrance for approx 10 mins. Staff didn’t so much as look at us. Approx half tables were taken and the other half had dirty plates on. Decided to sit on a nearby dirty table after being stood and ignored so long. Used our own wipes to clean it. Staff miserable as sin. Toasties almost £10.00. Decided we would have a cream tea and they were out of scones. Stayed for almost two hours and the surrounding tables weren’t emptied or cleaned. Toilets were also quite dirty. Not a nice cafe which is a shame considering it’s location

If you have special dietary requirements. DO NOT VISIT HERE. My wife, 2 children and I visited here on Monday 28 October 2024. My wife and 2 children are all coeliac. The restaurant advertised gluten free options and so we sat down and were served. My wife asked what soup of the day was and we were told pea. She advised the waiter that she was coeliac and he said he thought the soup was gluten free but would go and check. We all put our orders in with my children ordering gluten free sandwiches. 5 minutes later the waiter returned look8ng very sheepish. OUR EXPERIENCE WAS ABOUT TO GO DOWNHILL RAPIDLY. The waiter informed us that he had spoken to the manager and hhe manager had informed him and I quote the manager - he was not prepared to accept coeliac s in the restaurant. I had to ask the waiter again as I thought I had misheard. In my years of visiting many establishments serving gluten free food I have never felt so embarrassed snd upset. We have now experienced how it feels to be prejudiced against and can empathise with others who may be. I'm pretty certain that the manager would not be allowed to say this to other minorities The issues I have here are 1. The Manager clearly was not prepared to come and tell us this himself, so sent a member of staff to tske our grief. If you are mak8ng a statement as bold as that then surely you have to do it personally snd face to face. 2. The lack of care for 4 potentisl customers and all their family and friends that he has not cut off from his business 3. The blanket approach that this manager has to dietary requirements that they clearly don't understand. If he had come to speak to us then he would have understood each of our individual needs and that my wife and the children are OK with things being in the same kitchen as non gluten ingredients, as long as they don't come in to contact with gluten directly themselves. He clearly had no time to do this and therefore I draw, could not really be bothered about us as potential business, or the effect on his reputation. If you have a dietary requirement then I would urge you not to visit this restaurant snd go through the same embarrassing and humiliating experience that we went through because of our diets. I don't usually take time to write reviews, so you can probably tell how angered I am by this.

We have always said must try here. We found a table outside. Went and got the menu from inside. When ordering food the young lady welcomed me with a yep!. I said we was table 22 outside which she said not serving outside not enough staff and we are all new. Did not say would you like a table inside. There was no mention when getting the menu or a sign outside to say this. Also being welcomed with a yep. Not good customer service.

Honest review, Quality of the food ok, I would say it’s expensive for what it is and there was significant variance with portion size especially with chips. Atmosphere fine if you do not mind dogs in a cafe. Food was quick but there was no consistent way to order. I joined the existing queue to place my order yet despite there being 3 people waiting and only one staff member on the till other staff would walk from the kitchen area and directly take orders from the tables ignoring the existing queue. Visited around 12 o’clock on a Saturday, not particularly busy with half the tables still available. Wouldn’t go back just seems overpriced due to location and nothing more. Also very limited drink choice on the day of visit, no coke, all drinks were the low sugar options.

Chaotic, lots of tables that had not been cleared, the lady who took my order had no customer service skills, dirty shirts worn by 3 of the team, mucky carpets. Food arrived and was eaten before the drinks arrived. The sandwich however was fine with crisps and a side salad.

The food was decent, however, from my point of view the service was not up to standard. Many tables and counters were left dirty - despite not being busy - and we had to ask multiple times for water and for a table to be cleared. Upon paying, staff very obviously asked if we left a tip. I would not recommend this cafe.

Food was OK, they hadn't mentioned that my partners side salad would come dressed with vinaigrette so he ended up having to send it back due to an intolerance. His jacket potato was somewhat cold and the chilli wasn't the most flavourful. I had the cheese scone cream tea, the scone was perfect but the rest was a bit bizarre, it was served with grated cheese on the side which didn't stay on the scone when it was put on top, the chutney was OK. Onto the issues we had, we were met by a server who was completely uninterested, the cafe wasn't clean and overall it wasn't a pleasant place to be.

We came yesterday after walk in the forest and saw an offer for ‘coffee and cake’ but on the board said 3-4:30. We came a bit after 4:30 and ask if is possible and they were happy to make an exception. The coffee was nice and the cake delicious. We ask for apple cake with clotted cream and lovely waitress Amy said that’s not including in the deal but she will sort it. We had to pay only 50p for extra clotted cream- bargain. Turns out all cakes are home made. The staff was very friendly and even they gave to kids drawing even though they were about to close they let us stay longer . So nice of them. A bit of a disappointing visit, food was ok, but service was very wooden and a bit clumsy. It appears the chef is a bit of a dictator who can't adapt an item on the menu the serving member was to afraid to ask. My son wanted a bacon sandwich and was flat out refused on chefs say so yet had multiple bacon items on menu including hunters chicken....with bacon. And strangely the table next to us ordered 2 soups and 2 mains. The mains came out first and when questioned the server said you never stated you wanted soup first which is extremely poor attitude. Chef admitted his mistake yet basic error from a clear dictator in kitchen
