The best restaurants serving British food in New Forest South East

The best place for breakfast. We travel from Southampton each time to enjoy it. The quality of food, the service and the whole place is amazing. We absolutely love coming back and we have reassurance that the food will as superb as each time . Coming back tomorrow for a lunch and cannot wait.

Lovely panini, fresh and tasty, plus a great cup of tea and tasty fresh flapjack. Lovely service and great place on the Lymington Quay front.

Absolutely fantastic service and without doubt the best battered sausage and chips I’ve ever had, never tasted batter like it words can’t explain. Well done will be back next time we’re down.

Having had a ploughman's at another pub in the week, this was a breath of fresh air. Served on a sensible sized plate with a good choice of main items such as Pork Pie, Scotch egg, Cheeses but it was enhanced by a choice of bread, Branston or local chutney, silver onions, gherkins and a sensible sized piece of butter. Everything had so much flavour and was good value for money. A+ and will visit again.

Great cafe, lovely owner who's always up for a chat even when she's busy. Reasonably priced, well made food. Had very nice bacon sandwich last time I was there. Highly recommend popping in if you are passing.

Really wonderful, fresh, seasonal food, prepared with attention to detail and flavour. Rhubarb pavlova was a winner.

23rd February 2005. Just been for lunch a party of 6 adults and 1 child. Sunday roast was excellent and the service was wonderful. Highly recommend.

This was my first visit to The Salmon Leap although I have heard about it for years. I had thought because of the name that it was close to the river which it is not, so that was a bit disappointing! As others have said the value is very good, I had Rabbit and Bacon Pie which was lovely. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Great place, 2 open fires, rustic and simplicity at its best. It was my husbands bday today and they gave him a pint on the house! Ploughman’s were exceptional, homemade and fresh and lovely warm bread. We will definitely be back.

Excellent 5 course tasting menu, superb service and delicious food. Everything was on point and the ambience was lovely.

Lovely to be back at the RAT. Great service, lovely meal, as good as it always used to be. Friendly service, great vibe. Looking forward to returning again soon.
