The London Tavern in New Forest

Always good food but beware...the portion sizes are HUGE! Doggy bag always needed for my girly appetite. Lovely well cooked food and non touristy prices!

The tavern has long been a favourite for our family and when my dad died aged 91 we decided to hold farewell drink at the tavern. I rang Phil and he was happy to oblige us. We had a cold buffet and drinks. We all enjoyed the buffet and (amongst other beers) the Brains SA went down too well judging by the final tally. Think everyone enjoyed themselves. Phil thank you and your team for being so helpful, friendly and patient.

Typical old style pub with amazing food and nice welcome. Lovely staff and no problem bringing in our two dogs. We had the roast lamb shoulder, Katsu chicken and Ham, egg and chips, all homemade and very tasty.

Literally one of the best if not THE BEST roast dinner I have ever had. Traditionally cooked and full of flavour - where they provide plenty and a great variety of vegetables…. Roast potatoes …. Properly cooked! I could go on! A perfect little find … and the pictures on the web page are true! Tucked away with a lovely little pub garden, dogs welcome too!

Came at about 3:30 on a Sunday, the service was quick, roast was phenomenal and prices reasonable! Dogs are welcome both inside and out, they had a live guitarist and singer in the garden so the atmosphere was amazing!!

We visited last week, while on our holiday to the New Forest. We had an amazing Sunday roast, couldn’t fault any of the food, it the best roast I’ve ever had out. The roast chicken was lovely, as was the shoulder of lamb - both at a reasonable price too; it’s great value for money. Veg assortment is good too. We had the crumble and sticky toffee pudding for dessert. We will definitely be back next year for another Sunday roast! Service good too, lovely waitresses.

Amazing Sunday lunch and great value too. Huge portions and good beer. Lovely friendly staff make a great atmosphere. Even if you just want a quiet pint they seem to cater for everyone. Will definitely go back. Plenty of games and bits to keep the little ones entertained.

Our favourite pub, dropped in for an early dinner and it was it's usual high standard. Excellent food and service. Phil, the landlord was welcoming as ever.

Today a Sunday afternoon I took my daughter and boyfriend for a Sunday dinner. Roast Roast Roast the best!!!….. with several to choose from, plenty of veg and gravy. If you go along at 4pm sitting you get the added bonus of live music, what a great way to have a Sunday. Can’t fault the staff team who keep smiling and helping. Thanks returning is a must.

The London tavern is a fanatic pub, great atmosphere, great music and lovely staff. The locals however, are a bunch of fee range chicken snatching cuckolds

Pie night but what a delight! Wife and I went for a date night, lovely atmosphere and food was amazing. Quote from wife, “no one does lamb like the Tav!”

As per normal, drinks only, but today it was only me. Two of my favourite ales on sale, Landlord and London Pride, and was informed that they are always available. Dimpled handle supplied willingly. Great welcome by Phil. I love the way this old pub has retained ALL the original character. Loads of old photos of Ringwood and surrounds. Large car park although entry would be a bit tight in a large vehicle. All in all, no complaints from me, I will return.

Went for a family roast on Sunday !!! Best roast I’ve had in yonks… tender veg, lots of colour. The gravy had to be the best ever gravy ….. ever!!! The flavour was amazing Roast chicken was the best too! Waitress very helpful and efficient .. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit will definitely return very soon Oh yes the sticky toffee pud was tops too !!!

Had a fantastic classic Pie & Mash meal… 2 for the price of 1!!! Fantastic value for money. Absolutely delicious and well worth the money… 2 filling heart warming comfort meals in a cosy corner of the new forest….Excellent value

We have driven past this pub before but didn't get a chance to go in. We were looking for a sunday lunch spot whilst on holiday and the reviews seemed good. Wow, we were blown away! Love the atmosphere and the pub aesthetic. Staff were lovely and the food....wow! Roast pork and chicken were amazing, everything was delicious. Also, a little random, the gravy was magnificent. Some pubs serve gravy water with their roasts but it was rich and delicious. Our 4 year old needed to bale so no dessert but we are so impressed we will try to come back later in the week to try out the weekday menu. Update: went back for a roast April 2024 - just as amazing as last time. Delicious. Fantastic range of vegetables served with dinner. Kids meal was generous and yummy (according to my 5 year old) and we had desserts - best end of a meal. Can't wait to visit again soon.

Booked a table for 7pm on a Tuesday. Sent email via their website on the Sunday before. Didn't hear back from them so thought I'd call them and they tell me that they don't do food on a Tuesday! Well what an awful service! The website doesn't state this and no one bothered to call me to let me know! I have already told our friends to meet us there at 7pm. We will go elsewhere!

Every member of staff was helpful and absolutely lovely, cosy little pub with a great atmosphere. Came for our anniversary dinner got the amazing ribs and onion rings pictured, demolished the lot and I would highly recommend a visit. We were also invited to join the pub quiz that evening by the staff but unfortunately couldn't make it as we were leaving our holiday early the next day. If the staff see this, thank you all very much for making our evening memorable.

It's hard to beat The Tav's Sunday roasts! The portions are very generous, the veg selection is brilliant, the meat is absolutely lovely and their gravy is the best I've ever had at a pub. The veggie options are always well thought out too rather than an after thought.

Had a wonderful Sunday experience here with the family. Absolutely blown away by the high standard of food, service and friendly atmosphere. Superb Live music whilst we ate and stayed for post drinks.

I visited The London Tavern for Sunday lunch with friends just recently and was hopeful of the usual standard and menu options. I don't eat meat, and the Tavern has long been one of the best places for veggies and vegans in the area. The dishes are thoughtful, healthy and never a sorry compromise. I actively look forward to dining here whenever I get the chance. On this occasion I was excited to see a meat free Wellington added to the menu. It was as excellent as I had anticipated. The food at The London Tavern has a very good reputation for a reason. When you add this to the already friendly and welcoming environment the staff and landord have created for people of any age, background, or inconvenient dietry needs... you really can't miss.

Wow! What a Sunday Roast! All 4 of us had clean plates by the end (and as you can see from the photos, that’s not an easy achievement). Lamb, beef and pork were our choice - and the cauliflower cheese goes down a treat with the kids (and adults alike)! Generous portions, fabulous meat sourced locally from Shappens Stores in Burley, excellent wine menu, all accompanied by live music. What more could you ask for on a Sunday afternoon?

Great lunch out for our group of four. Flexible with food intolerance. Thoroughly enjoyed the TAV Winter Ploughmans I ordered (very satisfying combination of soup, salad, meats and breads).

Went for a family meal. Loved the food. Quality and good sized portions. Proper food!. Great service, friendly and very welcoming. Loved the atmosphere in the pub and the live band. Just the one fault which dropped it from a 5 rating. The pub was cold, especially sat for a meal. The radiator was on high but gave off little heat. In fairness, an extra electric radiator was brought out for us but just couldn't warm the room up. A real shame as I loved the food. Will be back but maybe on a warmer day.

We went to the London tavern last Sunday with friends for there Sunday roast dinner. Phil and his team were fantastic in all areas. Us 4 adults had the roast dinner 2x dexter beef and 2 x lamb shanks, all were amazing you could not fault the quality of meat and the amount of food we got. The 3 kids had different kids choices which were equally as good. After the meal we stayed to watch the live music which came on around 4ish. We really can't recommend the London tavern enough, everything about it was fantastic. We have also just booked again for mother’s day .

Had an incredible Sunday Roast as always. Always my number one recommendation for a forst class Sunday Lunch. Music was incredible too.

A lovely traditional pub with friendly staff. We had Sunday lunch good value and plenty of fresh veg. It was very cold in the pub which really spoilt our experience, we were sat by the wood burner but it had no effect

The best Sunday dinner I have had. The team were brilliant and friendly. We have 2 young boys and they loved their kids lunch. It's a great place as well, gorgeous period interior, a real classy pub. Have been there for sporting and music events...

We’ve eaten here quite a few times and I can honestly say it’s some of the best food in the New Forest. However, on a couple of occasions we’ve made the mistake of going here about 4pm when the only people drinking in there are the local tradeys. To say we were made to feel unwelcome might be the biggest understatement of the century. It was like one of those old western movies where you walked in and the world stops to stare. It’s a real shame because the food is unreal.

Yet another great Sunday lunch at the London Tavern. Great roast with great veg . Also fantastic live music great service what more could you want . Don’t miss out on this lovely pub.

Came in for a quick bite to eat, had a lovely bacon,brie and cranberry baguette!! Smashing customer service the staff were so kind and accommodating. Sat by the fire and got nice and toasty. Would 100% recommend coming with friends or family :))

Really lovely food, the service was brilliant. They had a live band on Saturday evening from 9 pm, which was very good, with a small area to dance. So very good if you want that. It's a little too loud to be able to talk. So, depending on what you want from your evening, it would depend on the day that's best for you to choose for your visit.

Great place very friendly people

Popped in for the first time in many years and in the middle of a downpour I should say. I was only there a couple minutes before the local chaps we’re chatting and having a craic. Loads of shelter for smoking and a well kept clean gaff around. I think I’ll go again and try food

Went for a Sunday Roast.....as good (in size and quality) as any roast I've ever had in any over priced over the cattle grid establishment in recent years.... Friendly staff and a fine selection of Ales morphed our visit into a once a month return...

A real hidden gem. The steak was top notch, ribs melted in your mouth, buttermilk chicken burger lush, pawns were amazing and cauliflower soup was excellent. A real treat.

Had Sunday lunch for 7 adults. Staff were 1st class - helpful, friendly and quick. But the annexe was very cold and not welcoming on arrival. Apparently the heating wasn't working - in November! Food was fine but the coffee maker wasn't working. Also, we didn't really like the 2 hour time restrictions. Would have probably stayed longer.

On a visit to the area from Cornwall we enjoyed Roast Sunday lunch at The London Tavern.We were impressed by the available menu which included locally sourced meat, accompanied by roasted vegetables. Excellent range of beers.Timothy Taylors and Solarwave enjoyed by some of our group. In the afternoon there was live music in the beer garden.When we visited Richie Quain , guitarist entertained with a laid back repertoire.

Really nice Sunday roast dinner.

First time visiting this pub as we were in the area and I’m so glad we came across it. The staff were lovely the wine was great and the food was fantastic. I had a rib eye steak and it was cooked perfectly and husband had the lamb which he said was delicious this was followed by sticky toffee pudding which was really nice. Couldn’t fault it.

Great Sunday lunch. The service was exceptional, staff all very attentive and nothing too much trouble. The food was great, tasty and plentiful. There was live music on when we were there, which we weren’t expecting but it was banging. The place was buzzing and we had a great time.

Went for lunch as had never been there before. The lunch was amazing and the staff were very friendly and exceptionally helpful. My husband and I usually have a different meal and then share, he had a Brie and Bacon Baguette with fries, salad and Cranberry Sauce, I had the rack of Ribs, which was huge and the best meatiest ribs ever, with fries, corn on the cob, coleslaw, salad (which was fresh and dressed, a big bonus in my book). Both meals were made with good quality ingredients and well presented. Good beer too, we will certainly return.

3 different roasts, all equally impressed us! Pork, Chicken and Nut Roast with loads of very freshly cooked, mixed vegetables, gravy, stuffing, Yorkshires and sauces!

Tip top visit. Last minute booking for 10 people. Everyone enjoyed all their meals which were cooked to perfection. Meals all came out together which was a great act. All had clean plates. Steak and burgers delicious. Staff welcome and very accommodating. Food very reasonably priced. Will visit again when in the area.

The picture of the roast on the website looks amazing. The meat is pink in the middle and crisp and caramelized on the outside. Don't be fooled. Our meat was the same bland colour and texture all the way through. The roast potatoes were soft...

Most menu options were unavailable, mashed potatoes had to be replaced with chips with a lamb dinner; most beers were also off and it was only 7pm on a Wednesday. Had to settle for a chicken burger and chips all of which was clearly bought...

We regularly head to this pub as we live locally. We had Sunday roast today with my wife kids and mother in law. Food was exceptional Service was superb Value you for money a great family experience. Great pub

Fantastic food as always, 6 of us out for a family meal. The ribs were amazing, cooked to perfection. 2 others had the lamb - which also got rave reviews. Top place, a great pub, with great food... Staff were great as well!

What a refreshing experience, not only do the guys at The London Tavern serve great food but the service is impeccable ; efficient and friendly. With a table of 10 for a mid week lunch, keeping all of us happy is no mean feat !

A team lunch for 10 can be challenging to arrange - but The London Tavern have a great menu, well cooked food and an efficient friendly team to help the event go smoothly. We will certainly be back!

Nice selection of Beers, if fairly standard, but a good atmosphere outside and friendly locals/staff. Did not eat but may return.
