Went to this pub as it came recommended by the person we rented the cottage from and several of the previous holidaymakers in the Guest Book. We went on our last night (a Friday) at 6.00pm. We had 2 dogs with us which meant we had to sit in the bar area. This area seemed to be full of regulars having their end of working week drinks. Whilst there is nothing wrong with that, it did mean it was very noisy, so if you are looking for a quiet meal, then this is not for you. The Steak & Ale pie, Belly Pork and Fish & Cips were all good, but not exceptional. The Peach & Rhubarb Crumble was a strange combination and the crumble on top wasn't cooked. I had something from the specials board, which was Nutella Brownie with custard. The Brownie was really dry and the taste of Nutella was largely absent. It wasn't an expensive meal and the staff were extremely poilte and attentive. There are lot's more pubs that are dog friendly in the area, so the next time I visit the island I'll probably give one of them a go!

I usually don’t rate 5 stars. Last week during our trip to NYC this was the best lunch ever. Very European well cooked (like at home) and balanced healthy lunch. I ordered the lunch special: yankee bean soup and a salad, non-alcoholic drink included. It was delicious. The Tuna sandwich, chicken sandwich and the onion soup also excellent. The tiramisu was next level, like in Italy. The bistro atmosphere really nice. Great service, the waiters and the manager very friendly. If again in NY, will definitely stop by.

We had a nice snack and drink here- enjoyable and fairly good service, especially considering how busy the resturant was. The food was incredibly flavourful and so tasty- it was really lovely to have some nice food! Would gladly return- even though it's difficult to get to, especially in a large crew van like ours (obviously this isn't the farm's fault though!)

Stopped off at this little gem while our car was being fixed at Nissan. This place is truly a treasure. The staff were very accommodating and helpful. We a smoothie, 2 shakes which were very nice. My daughter had some garlic and chorizo prawns with a side of chips. The quality of the food and drinks was 5 stars. We will definitely make the drive down again and it's only 25 minutes from Newquay. This has become our new favourite place to eat.

Haven’t been here for probably 7 years as we moved into Bristol! I wished we’d stayed so we could come here more often. Excellent food and great value too! Staff were super friendly and a good laugh! A must for locals, passerby’s and cyclists! Will be back soon!

Have eaten in many pubs and restaurants in the IOW over the years, but this is definitely in the top 5. Food is excellent, good quality produce used and large portions. I had the steak pie, so much steak and the best pastry. Served with choice of potatoes and fresh veg. Burgers were also excellent. Great service and food brought out freshly cooked and hot. Dog friendly. Gets very busy so we booked a table. Would highly recommend this pub/restaurant!

I haven't eaten here for years but it's a great location and really cosy inside. Yet the conservatory part is nice and bright. I didn't notice if the grape vine is still going strong. Fairly central on the Island and free parking, which makes it good for people meeting up.

My husband and I eat here every Sunday. The White Lion is the best of the best. We had Christmas and Boxing day in their excellent company. We felt we were a part of an extended family. Beautiful home cooked food. We cannot fault this family run business. They have had lower class clientele that were abusive. But rubbish always comes to the top of the pond. So ignore negative comments, if they want fast food then they can go elsewhere. This is quality food not junk food. FEB 14 VALENTINES DAY 2025. WOW!!! Beautiful food and lovely touches with real red roses and heart shaped candles. I just have to show you my pudding. Lovely homemade meringue with that gorgeous chewy bit. Cream islands under all the meringues and huge strawberries. Three flavour meringues, plain, pistachio and raspberry. This was SOOOO good. We so love this place and I really really wanted the Tri of meringues with Chantilly cream again that I had them on the following Sunday. Now with edible flowers and raspberries. Picture added below. May 2025 Well, I just had to add another delicious pudding. Sticky Toffee Pudding. Just look at the picture. Lovely homemade caramel and the lightest and most delicious spongy sticky pud going. Rich custard....my diet cannot cope with anything less!!! The little balls on the top are caramel. Just little touches like this and the strawberry take this out of the ordinary in presentation . If you haven't tasted this pud then you are denying your tummy of a great experience. Mind you, if you all go there then there may not be enough for me.....mmmm, just me thinking. Too late I have posted.

My partner and myself quite often have lunch, also drinks and cakes at the Bear Cafe. The Staff are so friendly, most of the food is homemade and delicious. Nothing is too much trouble, the ambience of the Cafe is lovely and they have a Wood Burner going in the cold months which is super. The Bear Cafe is at the very Top of our list to go to which is often Two very happy customers Wendy and Steve
