Morrisons Cafe in Isle of Wight

Popped into Morrison’s for some shopping and decided as there was free tables we decided to pop in for a bite to eat. Well, allI can say is, the staff were simply awful bar 1 young blonde girl and a very jovial lad called Simon, who were both effectively running around whilst others glared at customers! They were Rude, obstructive, and lucky not to be in the job centre signing on! One particular older “lady” called Debbie looked and spoke to people like they were disturbing her and making her life difficult when they were enquiring about anything from cutlery to sauces or napkins due to it all being behind the counter and only for staff issue! Sighs, huffs and puffs aplenty from “Mrs Miserable” as a lady near us called her! She was deliberately leaving dirty plates on tables so they could not be re used limiting the workload she had!All I can say is, lucky for us it was 50% off as my fish and chips meal was average at best, the fish was ok but the chips were undercooked and hard. The wife asked for chicken, bacon & avocado salad, she ended up with a cheese salad as they had no chicken or bacon!!! The avocado was rock hard and inedible!!! Seems as though the cafe staff need lessons on food stock levels and customer service skills! If I was the store manager, I’d be appalled at the attitudes of the staff!

If senior managers where to experience what they expect their customers to experience they would close this cafe down forthwith. Awful food, awful service, awful staff. And to top it all a cake display unit covered in dust. Don’t know how much they spent setting this up, they would have spent the money more wisely by donating the cash to the local cats and dogs home.

Loads of free tables but only let a handful of people in at a time so big queue. They could allow many more tables and still allow social distancing but have no interest. The funny thing is there are a number of staff at customer service looking at the queue and chatting rather than thinking about their job titles and doing something about it. Food nice but put off from visiting again.

We decided to have breakfast here on the Sunday as they were offering 50% off, We were originally told that there would be a 45 minute wait for a table but we decided to wait anyway and were taken through about 10 minutes later. The breakfast came fairly quickly but it was not presented very well - the food looked as though it was just stacked on top of everything and was very greasy. However we went back a few days later for lunch and this time we were told that it was an hour wait for food and she said we could go elsewhere. As we were on holiday we didn't know where else we could go as we didn't know the area so we agreed to wait. However once we had ordered our meals they arrived in 12 minutes. No sure why they were trying to put people off going in. This time the meal was fine and delicious for a supermarket cafe.

No idea what the food is like because I didn't bother ordering after being 'served' by an abrupt rude member of staff who was without any customer service skills. In the space of a few minutes she barked at me at the till and then went into the kitchen in full view of myself and other customers to berate other members of staff. The initial service at first point of contact was very pleasant (with another member staff) who handed out menus and directed us to our tables...But the previously mentioned member of staff (the one at the till) is just very unpleasant...I wouldn't even return for a cup of tea. I remember her name but won't be mentioning it here...But come on Morrisons you surely know who I'm talking about...Her colleagues gave a knowing look when I made my feelings known on my way out.

After a previously bad experience we thought we would give it a go again. Sadly just as bad as before. Cold cooked breakfast. I took it back and said it was cold. Ok the assistant said I can put it in the microwave. No that will dry it out I said. I would like a freshly cooked one. Well it’s all batch cooked and kept in containers. Eventually I got a replacement. Tea was cold by then. If I had more time I would have gone and complained asking for a refund. Get it sorted . Get some keen staff trained in customer service.

We stopped here for lunch today, I ordered chicken and chips, my partner ordered breakfast. My chicken was barely cooked so I decided to eat just the outer part of the breast meat. The chips and peas were cold and most of the meal was not eaten. The ingredients of my partners breakfast was just piled in a heap on the plate with 2 fried eggs on the top. Since the refit of the lake store the standard of food has deteriorated badly, it’s does not appear to be the same polite staff. We won’t visit this cafe again.

Popped in for tea and cakes - belgian buns were the best we have ever tasted lovely lemony icing. Only thing we don't like about the new cafe is that it is now too open feels like you are in a gold fish bowl - needs some screening around and also was freezing cold as no protection from the cold coming in from the main entrance. Please lets have some screening and some heat to make it cosy as it used to be fine before. Other people we spoke to said the same things.

It was ok for a snack whilst out shopping drinks are refill as many times as you like quick service, breakfast well worth the money

This used to be a nice place to eat after going shopping with friendly staff to serve you, but since the café underwent a refurbishment back in the Summer, I have found that both times I have visited to be an utter disappointment as on my first attempt, I waited at the counter for ages before somebody came from the back area to serve me, no apology & when I asked for fish & chips with a cup of coffee I was told that the fish had run out at lunchtime, (it was now 2pm) I mentioned that their lovely supermarket is full of fish in which I had a sharp response that they are not allowed to just go into the store & take anything off the shelf as they are only allowed to cook what is delivered to the café, then the 2nd visit the tables were full of dirty plates & cutlery even though it was empty inside, they had fish this time but when it arrived it was thin, dry & burnt to a crisp along with a tiny amount of stone cold rock hard chip pieces & even colder garden peas.

Popped in for dinner a few times during October half term as we were staying on a local holiday park. Food was great balue for money. And the staff were friendly and helpful highly recommend for good value food

I was pleased to see that they do a butternut squash and lentil lasagna so protein at last.Unfortunately when my meal arrived (only just warm) it came with a side salad topped with plenty of coleslaw! I had to explain to the waiter that ordinary coleslaw is not vegan!

We popped in for breakfast and expected a quick visit. The self serve machine was broken. We queued 5 minutes and got to being next served. A customer walked up to the till and said she had been waiting for 40 minutes for her breakfast. She was told her order would be cooked next. The girl on the till was then called away to help with washing up. Eventually someone else came to the serving area and spoke to the back of the queue saying a 40 minutes wait for hot food. I queried this when she came back to the till to take our order. She said yes 40, it’s busy. The cafe wasn’t even half full. The problem was, poorly trained and inadequate staff. Same as the old version. We left along with about 10 others. We crossed the road and within 10 minutes was eating a very good breakfast freshly cooked in Ritchies diner. It was busy but still cooked quickly.

First and Last time in this newly opened Cafe. What can I say COLD. DEEP FRIED EVEN THE TOAST WAS COLD.EGGS, COLD MUSHROOMS, COLD BEANS COLD, Suggest Higher Management have there breakfast there Never again.

Food was brilliant price but nearly fifty minute wait! There breakfasts cost less than a tenner cheap and filling was packed though so be prepared to wait we had no idea!

We visited this café a few times at the end of July for breakfast, one had the regular meat breakfast, two had the vegetarian breakfast and one had five of the 70p items, consisting of three quorn sausages and two portions of mushrooms. The food was excellent and very filling, we did have to wait twenty minutes as they were very busy but they did tell us when we ordered. There were plenty of sauces unlike a lot of restaurants. There aren't many staff and they were working so hard, I hope their wages reflect this. I would definitely recommend the food

What can we say . Superb value for money . A good breakfast at a good price . It was rather busy and was told would be a 20 min wait . That's fine ... well food turned up in 10 min it all turned up together , order was correct and it was all hot ,if I had to I'd say the black pudding was of low quality or overcooked but that's the worst thing I can say .

Avoid Friday,Sat and Sunday Mornings after 9am.They have expanded the Cafe,but do not adequately staff it.On these days alone you can face a 40 min wait for food.All too often you will find a table that is surrounded by dirty tables full of half eaten food.

The first visit was really good. The second in the same week not so. The beans were cold, they had no back pudding and offered no alternative and the service was slow. Most of the tables were covered in dirty plates and cutlery and the serve yourself machine was out of order.

Bright,modern cafe which serves good honest tasty meals whether it's a snack or full on meal you're after,at reasonable prices.

We visited with our grandson who is autistic . The manager served us and her customer service was excellent. Was happy to put his food on seperate plates and to do plain milk as he doesn't drink flavoured. We had cakes that were very nice. Place was clean and very reasonably priced. Will definitely be visiting again.

We dropped in for a full English this morning. The supermarket has been redone so is modern and spacious. In the cafe you order your food on a touch screen and then it is served to your table. The full English was perfectly cooked and was an impressive portion size. Very good value for money and good service.

When needing a quick, good value meal, look no further then Morrisons cafe, with staples such as Bangers and Mash, or Fish and chips, very reasonably priced too.

The supermarket's recent revamp is very impressive and well thought out. Can't fault the helpful friendly staff service. Unfortunately the revamped cafe is less down by the quality of some of its food. My wife had baked potato and cheese with a little salad on the side. I ordered the beef and ale pie with chips and peas. The missus couldn't finish her potato for it was poor quality and a microwave job. My pie was ok but the beef needed something extra. The peas were processed rubbish and the chips barely cooked in the oven and dull and not nice. They changedbitbfir me to a pie with mash and peas and gravy...but the mash was made from the same boring potato and lacked seasoning or a pleasant taste. Not worth the £5 I paid for it. If they fried the chips properly using a good quality potato or added butter and seasoning to the mash all would be well. Cheap food should still be made from good ingredients. Hopefully Morrisons will get this sortef6fir st the moment the quality and cooking of their cafe food hasn't changed with the revamp. It was bloody awful in the old store and the service wasn't good. So close, but no cigar. Nothing wrong with the shop. Please get the cafe sorted for there's not exactly a lot of competition from the areas local mostly second rate eateries which need a serious kick up the till!

Poor hygiene - tables unclean, discarded and semi-eaten food, spilled tea, milk and worse everywhere (on AND under tables?)

I’ve tried the new cafe twice now, and have been rather disappointed. On the first visit I just had croissants and coffee, but asking for butter caused major fuss and bother. Today we visited as a couple for breakfast. Both orders were incorrect - white toast instead of brown, no beans. I saw our food sitting for ages on the countertop getting cold whike the waitress stared in puzzlement at the screen. Ifeel the menu is too complicated, or the staff need more training.

Visited newly opened cafe. Waited 45 minutes for food to arrive. Not enough staff. Waitress walking round with plates of food looking for person who had ordered it. Food itself was average at best. Will not be returning.

Stopped for Breakfast in the Cafe of the newly extended Morrisons at Lake. The food quality, service and value was excellant for the price charged. The hot drinks from a machine were marginally acceptable at best, and unfortunately there was no option of having anything nicer.

The quality of food in this supermarket restaurant is superb. We had a salad with a more lucrative portion of ham than we could have bought in store! Very impressed.

good clean cafe attached Morrisons in Lake, something on the menu for everyone and all freshly cooked typical cafe choice,and very reasonable prices.

We use the cafe regularly I admit it should not be an excuse as some of the comments about cleanliness is correct - the real reason is that there is never enough staff-management are aware of this but do nothing - the staff there are really lovely people very friendly and try very hard to do the impossible - so please if you do critise the cafe overall have a go at management - the 5 star I give for the staff.

My youngest Daughter loves a Morrison's breakfast so we decided to visit here whilst on holiday. When we arrived it wasn't very busy but there were at least 5 or 6 tables that still had old plates piled up on them.

Popped in as needed somewhere large to park the wagon so thought give the cafe a try. Had the £6 meal deal got fish chips beans and a sprite. The fish was beautiful flaking white cod and everything else was spot on friendly cook as well

being local we came for a breakfast but was so bad I didnt eat it,burnt toast & just luke warm

Visited this morning for breakfast, after a we had a long wait in the queue during which time there were no trays and both the orange juice and apple juice were both empty. They eventually filled the apple but when we asked if they had any orange we were very abruptly told no. We then got to the till with drinks to be told there was at least a 45 minute wait for food . The cafe wasn’t even full needless to say we sat for long enough to finish our drinks and then left to go to elsewhere, given the dirty state of the table we were glad we were not eating. We won’t be returning.

Was on holiday from wales,can not praise the staff in this cafe enough,really good food,and the staff are credit to the store,really lovely,as are the store staff in General,i think it is the best Morrison's cafe i have ever been to,thank you

Average sized store with free parking adjacent, plus a cafe inside that has nice staff who serve up well cooked food, as everything going past me looked tasty.

We have came here many times whilst on holiday, the same man is always on the till (brown hair and glasses) and he’s very chirpy and friendly. We look forward to seeing him each year! Never met a happier sole, bless him! Food was meant to be late but he said don’t you worry my darlings and we had the food quicker than we could blink. See you again next year we hope!! Food was good too, ‘good value and great range’.

No real problems with the cafe and delivers what you would expect from a supermarket cafe, no more and no less. Staff are friendly and helpful, food and ambience fairly standard. Most importantly it appears to be very clean (certainly was during our visit).

We ate there three times and the breakfast was not only excellent but cheaper that anywhere else that we tried on the Island

Been here many times.. hit and miss, but dont order an omellette.

After a long day travelling I stopped at Morrisons to get some supplies. I decided to eat there rather than mess about trying to find a restaurant nearby & have to wait for food. The fish & chips looked good so I opted for that. They were about to close but the chef said he'd cook it fresh. After a short wait the food was delivered piping hot & tasty. Cant fault the service or food. Cheap eats but I cant complain for fish, chips & mushy peas as well as a pot of tea for £5! Bargain. If you want fine dining go elsewhere. If you want good grub & cheap prices then give it a go.
