Always have a great meal from here but decided to have a roast this time. Roast Beef slices were fatty/chewy and cut way too thick, my knife couldn’t even cut through it. Vegetables were definitely frozen and bland, some strange reason there were courgettes and mange tout included? Never heard of that on a roast. Only part I did enjoy were the potatoes and Yorkshire pudding. Couldn’t believe it cost £16.95 definitely not worth the price. Think I’ll just stick to the burgers as I know they’re delicious.

Two meals and 2 drinks £37 more food than we could eat asked for some extras the staff help with that said hello and goodbye. Car park was busy but plenty of spaces and free to park. Afterwards had a nice walk around the many small businesses that are base around the the pub all together a nice lunch with afternoon walk

First time visiting The Dairymans Daughter, recommendation from a friend. Very warm welcome from the second we walked in the door. Food was served 10-15 minutes after ordering, generous portions and good quality, exactly what you'd expect. What did stand out was the warm feeling of the place, very homely and comfortable. Special mention to the lady wearing glasses, apologies for not catching her name, her hospitality was faultless. Most importantly for us is how dog friendly the place was, there's no areas specifically for them which is great, this staff made lots of fuss of our pup, all the little things that make a big impact. We will definitely be returning again. Thank you.

We visited yourselves twice whilst being on holiday. The 1st night (Monday), the food was awesome and could not fault anything. It tasted so nice it was moreish. Then, on the 2nd night, we visited (Thursday), the Daily Specials board was the same as Monday, and the food was not up to the standard we'd experienced on the Monday. We felt disappointed. However, we would recommend others to yourselves, though, based on the 1st night.

Very saddened today as we have used this establishment many times over many years but today we couldn't even get through the door. 4 of us fancied a few drinks after visiting the barns and on previous visits have always gone in for a drink. When we opened the door there was a wait to be seated sign and a lady just bluntly said "name booking is under*? No hello or welcome. We said we hadn't booked to then be told we haven't got any tables which left us no option than to just leave. We only wanted a drink or 2 but weren't even asked if we wanted food or not. We could of sat outside as it was dry. A real shame as we have always enjoyed our times here . Lucky for us there is a pub 50 yards down the road. After a £24 taxi from Sandown, then a lovely visit to the barns we left disappointed we couldn't enjoy a drink. Should we return I hope maybe a more friendly staff member will be there to greet us.

Really didn't have the best experiance here, the bar man was a little grumpy when I was questioning about a couple of my I guess I would say unusual allergies. He really didn't seem to want to go and check the ingredients in a couple of dishes for me. To the point where I didn't feel safe to eat there, we found another little local pub who went above and beyond, even bringing out a purple folder and they were able to tell.me the exact ingredients in any dish within seconds so it's not difficult. We have been several times to the dairymans before and always enjoyed it and will try again, I just feel it's gone a little downhill and more understanding of specifically more not so common allergies would be greatly appreciated

The food was decent, but the portioning felt off. There were way too many chips on the plate, almost as if they were trying to bulk up the meal to justify the price. A few minutes later he came out and told us there was a table now available inside, so we opted for that one. MORE AT Google

On taking a friend for Sunday lunch, I'd expected both of us, seeing as someone had recommended we have a meal there before my friend headed back home to where we both live in a small town north of Inverness. Originally, I'd intended taking him to the Chequers at Rookley, where I'd been several times over the years my niece has lived on the island. However, after being shown to the table I'd booked, we both sat down, expecting that someone would come to take our order, seeing that we are both disabled OAPs with mobility plus other medical issues. It was after some 15 minutes that I spotted a notice that informed diners that they'd to go to the bar to place their order. Using crutches when there are a large number of people gathered around a bar where the food orders are also dealt with brings out the worst in some people who seem to think that disabled OAPs are there to hinder them getting their drinks. Had I not known that on booking a table I would have to pay a table charge had me and my friend then decided to find somewhere else to have our meal, so placed our order and carried our drinks through the crowd of people back to our table, though being jostled during the way back saw me having some of the soft drink on my shirt and trousers. When our meals arrived, there was a delay until the Vegetables arrived in a serving dish, but as I'd decided to have Lamb, I'd to ask the young male waiter if there was any mint sauce. A few minutes later, he came back and plonked it on the table, as if I'd caused him extraordinary work. As we both had some of the Vegetables it was noticed that slices of cucumber were also in the Small bowl, along with Sugar Snap Peas, Baton Carrots, Cauliflower Florets with a white sauce already on them, plus Peas. The baton carrots had been over boiled, as they broke trying to lift them onto the plates, and on trying the Sugar Snap Peas it was found that the ends hadn't been trimmed, and even then they were quite stringy and felt as if nylon thread had been put into their DNA. We had intended having one of the Desserts, but decided that we'd be better off getting some ice cream from a shop on the way back to my niece's, seeing as she had gone to her families home on the mainland, so as to Dog Sit whilst they were away on holiday. It was a very disappointing meal, and as I had for a number of years been a Mystery Guest/Customer, for the NOP organisation, where I carried out covert hotel and restaurant visits, plus various large concerns such as Supermarkets, Car Dealerships like Chrysler and Ford , and well known electrical outlets that deal with household items, PCs. Televisions etc, plus Banks etc, all my reports were given a very high mark, as I was also, on occasions, and unknown to me, being also watched by another agent from a different area, who would later verify my reports as being accurate and truthfull. Will I ever go for another meal at this establishment is something that is doubtful, so I can only hope that some of the points raised are dealt with, and that future diners have a better experience than both my friend and i happened to have.

I vowed never to eat again at the Talbit after a horrible roast dinner in May but I chanced it again and I am so pleased I did. The food was really nicely prepared with succulent roast beef and vegetables that were not overcooked. The staff were also amazing. I went again a few days later and had an equally enjoyable meal. It is so much improved and now a great place to eat.

Half of our order missing. No burger or sauces and a small fish when ordered a regular. Tried ringing multiple times and no answer. Over 11 pounds worth of food not turning up is unacceptable and nobody answering the phone so I can get our food is so poor. Won't be using oggies again, that's for sure

I haven’t been here for several years. It wasn’t busy when arrived, in fact we were only ones eating in conservatory. Service was quick and efficient. The food was absolutely great. I was very impressed. Quality and quantity was good. Definitely recommend.

Great homemade cakes and sandwiches in a converted railway station with lovely countryside views (better when the sun shines, but still nice when it doesn't!). They've even sorted the filter coffee since my last visit so it's now good to drink.
