Stopped by for a Sunday roast a few week's back 😋 Service and food was awesome 👌 well worth a visit. Keep up the good work guys.

We went in for lunch today and I really can't fault it excellent food and value 😋 very friendly service

Waitress wasn't the friendliest and just dumped our drinks down. Ordered 3 fajitas and a burger. Looked lovely, only to find the sour cream was full of salt, completely ruined our dinner. Never heard of salt in sour cream. Spoke to the lady behind the bar (possibly manager) who was absolutely lovely and apologetic. She sorted out a part replacement dinner but unfortunately the veggies also had a lot of salt added so wasn't as nice at the first lot. Such a shame

Popped in for lunch, food was lovely, as was the service. Hadn't been here for a while but will definitely be using more frequently

What a find! Great food and a decent selection of beer with friendly staff. Ideal for a post-walk lunch, as it's situated very near Pankhurst Forest, in addition to the Wight Military and Heritage Museum which is well worth a visit. Spacious pub with plenty of seating inside and outdoors. Highly recommended!

Always good value, never had a bad meal, love the dirty fries with chilli

Roast dinner wasnt very good. Very bland..no greens..hardly any gravy..plate full of mash! Went there for fathers day and my dad was underwhelmed aswell. My daughters meal was nice but certainly wouldnt have another roast there. Nice pub and friendly lady behind the bar..but wouldnt recommend unfortunately.

Good food and selection, not bad price, big place with indoor and outdoor seating.

Thought we would give the Sunday roast another try as the last one we had a few months ago was quite bland and tasteless, We Took the in laws up there and the food this time was First Class - One of the tastiest roasts I have ever had . Thank You Guys 😃 The staff were lovely and friendly. Highly recommend 🍻😃😎

We were over for the takeover. As it was an early start, we fancied breakfast & saw the Stag advertised on the road. So we gave it a shot & was not disappointed. The service was fast, the food was fresh & hot .The plate was filled with food. And the guy who served us was friendly & chatty. The pub itself is decorated nice & is clean. This is one of the best breakfasts we have had in a very long time. I can happily say we left with full belly's & recommend to a few other people from the show.

Just been for breakfast. I had a small one hubby had a standard. Cooked fresh ,plenty on each plate lovely and hot. We will be back and would highly recommend.

A lovely bar and restaurant we visited last Thursday for food and had great service to, we then last minute booked to stay on Saturday evening we had again great service and the room we were In was great Highly recommend for either a few drinks a meal or to stay

Got the order wrong and lied about it.

I have been to the Stag Inn on a number of occasions so when my daughter & her family came over for the weekend I happily booked a table for eight on the Sunday for 1pm. Usually a waiter/waitress comes to our table for drink orders but not this time, we had to keep going to the bar, When someone eventually took our food orders two had starters, main meals were not served for a total of 1hr 20mins The inside was stifling, I did ask a waiter if a door could be opened, which he did but it was soon closed by another customer The table when leaned on was wonky, my Grandsons chair was broken & on the whole not a good experience at all It was not that busy so not sure what the problem was If the food had been good perhaps all this wouldn't have mattered but it wasn't. My gammon steak was very fatty.We have definitely had better times & meals here

Very very poor service! Roast dinner was burnt tried to complain but the boys that were working wasn’t bothered terrible!

Went as a table of 5 so a mixed order every bit of food came out presented beautifully and tasted excellent, the staff cleared table properly with no stacking of plates on table pet peeve of mine. Nicely presented with good selection will definitely return.

Expensive food. Had a roast, the carrots were black (burnt), cabbage and Yorkshire tasteless, cauliflower cheese was hard. Meat and roast potatoes were OK. £8 for puddings that were pre bought. My friend had an allergy so had no menu alternative. Were overcharged by £8! Complained but we're ignored. Avoid.

Won’t be returning. A shame to say but four on the table all agreed that we would not revisit again. Albeit there were Christmas parties, it was not that busy. Food was ordered. It was asked if just a meal of baby back ribs could be ordered instead of the additional chicken tenders as it was too big (no mention that it would still be charged for the full price). The mains were served. Chips were cold on two plates, vegetables cold on another plate. The ribs were sent back because the chips and onion rings were stone cold. Everyone else continued with their food and eventually a plate of hot chips and onion rings were served… minus the ribs. I asked where they were and the waitress said I had eaten them all! I said I hadn’t and had only eaten three or four because the rest of the meal was cold which was why I went to the bar to get a member of staff to rectify the issue. No update was given but 15 mins later a plate of ‘fresh’ ribs was served but I was told there would be a charge added for these. I said they could have them back if I was being charged. I hadn’t finished the ribs I’d originally ordered and the issue was everything else. Apparently I was ordering an additional rack of ribs as I had finished the others which certainly wasn’t the case. The waitress then asked the rest of the table their feedback of which some of the food was cold on each plate served. After this there were no more visits to our table. I would have liked to order more drinks but we even had to go to the bar for the bill as we were now being ignored. I didn’t expect to be charged full price for the ribs when the chicken was not part of the meal. I certainly didn’t expect to be charged fully following the cold food and the feedback of this. Maybe a drink or something taken off the bill would have been a suitable option due to the lack of service? It wasn’t handled well and I felt somewhat insulted. I notice that management has changed and Steve could have come over to the table to rectify things. All in all poor service, poor food and unprofessional staff.

Must have been a bad day as a lot of good reviews here. Sadly my experience wasn't that good. Cold plates and cold, just about cooked cabbage, slightly warm mash. The smallest piece of haggis and over grilled chicken,even less sauce almost £20. A hot rack of ribs with cold chips, a cold pot of beans and onion rings. The staff apologised and took it away, returning with a hot replacement minus the ¾ rack of ribs that were good. When asked where the ribs were we were given a full rack but told it would be added to the bill. An evening out spoiled by this experience so we left early. Although a very nice venue, we won't be going to The Stag again.

I don't know what has happened to the food but Sunday roasts are very mediocre now beef was from an Iceland joint by look of it mash was lumpy and large looked like small service for average looks like new staff possibly new chef maybe take a note out of carvery and get proper joints of meat in.

We called at 3pm on Sunday afternoon to book a late lunch and was told if we could get there by 3.30pm as the kitchen was closing. Luckily we just made it in time. We were greeted very well. All the staff were very good. We all ordered Scampi & Chips which was most probably the best I've had, with lovely chips that tasted great. The food and service was excellent. We were meeting up with family from the mainland that we haven't seen for over 11 years, and sat and chatted, after our meal for 5 hours in The Stag. We were very well looked after, even Cecil the dog. We will definitely be going here more often.

I only stopped in for a drink before an appointment, so I can't comment on the food. The staff were very welcoming, friendly, and happy, though, so I'll definitely be back for food at some point.

Nice food good beer bit quiet when we went

Very very salty food staff very good . I will not go back . You with dogs and you would like to dying with dogs in the restaurant you will be happy. Customer allowing dogs to run around the outside soiling up tables. Then turning over tables in the bar. I love dogs but don't believe they should be in a food eating area. Especially if the people that own them have no control over them. No, very good experience. And was my local place to go to for food?. Understand new owners. Or at least there is a new cook a long way away from the food that used to be served. Sad

Been here 4 or 5 times now and the food, service, atmosphere and prices are all good!

Ben (manager) was most attentive and helpful. The food was good, fajitas a little too spicy. Rooms were clean and nicely decorated. Very reasonable price for b and b. Overall would recommend this facility.

Quality of food was very poor. Roast potatoes and chips poor quality. Steak and Haggis Meal over cooked and well overpriced. We were a table of 6 and all agreed that the food was well below what we expected. Three of us left the Inn feeling hungry, A comment was left with one of the stewards whilst paying the bill, Chef please cook the Food as requested Med Rare and Rare Steaks should be cooked as requested, Not well done.

Dropped in for dinner, to avoid waiting in the traffic cue. Good decision! The menu is great, the daily specials board looked good but went for a safe bet, as it was our first visit. Only disappointment was, they were out of cod.

Well we’re do I start. Went here with a few friends for a roast on Sunday. Portion sizing was somewhat tight for a large roast. Hardly any gravy at all, but the bit that bugged me the most, roast potatoes that you have just dunked in the deep fat fryer!? Any chef lazy enough to allow that to be their standard is worrying. Will not be returning.

We have visited the stag many times over the past few years. We both love haggis and unusually the stag offers this as an option for starter and main. Previously it has been delicious but just lately it has gotten poorer and poorer Tonight was by far the worst, hubby had haggis, I had steak fajitas. The haggis was so small it was hardly worth botheringand what was there was dry and hard, the chicken that accompanied was dry and hard. The mash was gloopy and lumpy and the sauce was bland. My fajitas were so salty that I could only manage half and had to leave the rest. Will be avoiding this place now😔😔 really disappointed as used to love going here

Excellent, meal was delicious and the menu isn't just the usual pub grub, well worth a visit. Staff were very welcoming. There is wheelchair access and it is roomy, perfect for a family visit

We have been going to The Stag quite a lot recently over the past year and we are never disappointed, the menu has a great selection and has plenty of choice regarding Vegan and vegetarian.

Excellent meal with very generous portion sizes. The food was very tasty and the staff were always smiling and very friendly. But been for many years but this week change now we've found how good they are

Slightly disappointed after having such fab food last 2 times been alottle let down u fortunately. This was one of our top 2 places to eat on iow but last time I made them aware was offered a free drink neber did ask for this. Second time sent food back as was not hot

We've Been here quite a few times now. Friendly staff, great menu,special board has always been a great option also. Love how they are out there with ideas on the burgers etc. Cajun fries are a bit over powering on the Cajun. All in all ,a great place for a bite to eat. Definitely recommend.

Overpriced pub grub with very limited choices, designed to serve the cheapest meats for highest possible prices (overpriced chicken, pork or minced beef). My burger had gristle in it and I was served oven chips as 'fries'. And people fall for this scam! It doesn't exactly have seaviews or anything else special either, London prices for a pub on the main road. Really? You can get it a lot cheaper and better at the George.

Very nice meal during a busy lunchtime period

Lovely meal, very busy. But we were served promptly, didn't have to wait too long for our dinners. Very tasty, definitely will be back!

Went as party of 5, amazing food, everyone was impressed. The prices were good and the setting clean and friendly. Pleasant and efficient staff rounded out a great evening. Will definitely go again.

Good value Sunday pub lunch - the mashed potato has to be eaten to be believed.

The food was fantastic. Had the Coronation Chicken on baguette. Such a nice place for a fresh and filling meal. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Husband had a burger with beef, bacon and a chicken breast. He said it was amazing. I'd come back to Isle of Wight just to eat here again. :-)

Absolutely disgusting service, every time we asked where our food was it was being plated up, still not to get our food … staff contradicted themselves , had a young child with us and a diabetic ….but people that came in well after us had their food …. Would not recommend at all they didn’t seem to have a clue

We booked this place based on reputable reviews, attended with family for Sunday lunch at 1300, having ordered food at 1320 still no sign of food come 1430! Absolute shambolic service, was told several times food was being dished up and never materialised. Ended up leaving and going elsewhere. Would not recommend!

Good nights sleep in very comfortable accommodation and a very satisfying breakfast. Pleasant host and staff,and the bar area, dining area and bedrooms upstairs are immaculate.

We went with the MS society and had a fabulous meal very large portions and tasted delicious pub from the main road not much to look at BUT go round the back and it wonderful with stunning views can't wait to go back

Great friendly place, amazing food

To be fair the staff were nice and happy but I can't say the same for the rooms, especially for the £380 for 2 nights they wanted. A refund was given when I expressed my views to the manager as we couldn't stay in the room allocated to us.It was advertised as having newly decorated rooms but I begged to differ. The stairs upto the rooms are narrow and the tread depth is small. Its a shame really as the downstairs pub and restaurant looked lovely. My advice would be to definitely replace the bed pillows. This place for an overnight stay would not be suitable for someone with mobility issues.

Food was good limited menu and yes I agree the only thing that does get on my wick is the over eager staff. Almost as though they want you in and out as quick a possible. Once order was made and the coke glass cooled down after a speedy trip from the bar to the table they eventually left us alone . However what ever you do don’t make it obvious that you have finished even if you have not because yes your right it’s like a swarm of locus’s heading for your table. All in all a good meal … Worth a visit if nothing else !!

Shared a meal with two friends at The Stag and stayed for the themed Quiz. Good night, enjoyable food, prices reasonable. Only just got the menus and the waitress was a little too eager asking us for our choices. Accommodated tweaks to the meals but when swapping out an item with my dessert I got charged for the replacement item, would have been nice if they'd told me that was going to happen.

Wonderful food, great portions and incredibly friendly staff. Took a fussy 4yo and they were more than happy to sort a meal for him. Would 100% reccomend 🌟
