A really friendly pub with good food and a welcoming atmosphere. My wife and kids had the fish and chips which was excellent and I had the steak pie and mash which was also really good. The veg was not over cooked though I would have welcomed a bit more. The staff were all great and the service excellent, it seems to be on the up.

I vowed never to eat again at the Talbit after a horrible roast dinner in May but I chanced it again and I am so pleased I did. The food was really nicely prepared with succulent roast beef and vegetables that were not overcooked. The staff were also amazing. I went again a few days later and had an equally enjoyable meal. It is so much improved and now a great place to eat.

I visited on the last night of my walking holiday with my dog. The staff were absolutely smashing, it was quite busy which gave it a buzz (always a good thing for a lone diner) and the food was fresh and delicious. My choice was fish and chips, a Nutella cheese cake washed down with a 0% Shipyard. All in all, a great experience 👍

Although the furniture and decor are a little tired and dated, don't let it put you off. The staff are excellent and experienced, and the food is tasty and large portioned. Whether it's the lunchtime menu (steak and onion ciabatta is an absolute delight after walking in the cold), or the evening menu with daily specials, you will not be disappointed. Oh, and they do alcoholic drinks as well! It's attached to the Skelwith Bridge Hotel, so booking is recommended, but not necessary. You can just turn up and take your chances.

For £13.95 each we could choose what we wanted from the buffet continental breakfast, also including hot drinks and juice. In addition we could choose what we wanted from the breakfast menu e.g. full English breakfast, salmon and poached egg…. Excellent value for money. Thank you for giving us a great start to the day!

Large comfortable bar area with lots of seating. There is plenty of space for dogs. Good selection of local ales. Only one choice for roast dinner (beef), which was a little disappointing, a chicken option would have been good. Having said that, the beef roast was very good with thick slices of perfectly cooked meat. My wife chose the steak & ale pie which well filled with tender steak. Desserts were not homemade but well presented and delicious. Even had a dog ice cream (a first for our hound)! Service was great with a bit of chat and fun. Would recommend if you are in the area.

It has a large outside seating area so is great to sit out on a sunny day. Great all day food menu and real ale. If you have dogs, this is a must place to go as it is possibly the most dog-friendly pub I have ever been to. The pub supplies dog dishes to order such as chicken and doggy ice cream (Marshfield farm Vanilla) which were told is good for doggy bone strengthening and contains glucosamine and vitamin C plus other nutriments for doggy health. The dogs certainly seem to love it!). The bar staff are very helpful and there is a gift shop and bakery at the side of the hotel which has a beautiful little river close by so ideal for picnics (and has a decent sized car park).

Tiny amount of chicken enough for 1 fajita chicken was burnt and stuck to the dish also the vegetables were burnt. All in all very disappointing meal.
