Chef Ravi rose magnificently to the curry challenge! I managed to down about half my venison and prawn curries, served with rice and condiments, but luckily my companion finished his grilled skewer and demolished the rest. Terrific to have authentic Indian food available in Graffham (on special request). Bravo to the the White Horse for extending its excellent range.

So disappointed by this place . First visit and won’t be returning! Ordered Avo on sourdough with poached eggs . Asked for the eggs to be well done . It wasn’t sourdough but cheap white bread . Eggs were runny so asked them to redo . 2nd attempt the eggs were still runny so my partner ate it . Large coffees ordered and just a normal sized cheap mug and not very hot . £17 totally wasted . We also ordered a croissant which was the only thing acceptable. Customer service - zero! Young staff who don’t care , smile or make u feel welcome . They need training asap or replacing . Us customers pay their wages - at least earn if . Doesn’t cost anything to be helpful or to smile . Will NOT be returning .

I often visit the lovely cafe at West Dean. The coffee and cakes are excellent, and lunch equally so. The cafe is very pleasant, and parts are dog friendly. The staff are very welcoming, the choices are good, and sitting outside even wrapped in a thoughtfully provided blanket, is a real treat. I definitely would recommend for coffee and cake, or a light lunch. No booking, but I have never been unable to find a seat.

Such a shame! This is a “destination pub” set in the most glorious position to enjoy fabulous English countryside views. The menu was somewhat lacking. The diet cokes were flat. The dog bowls in the garden had no water. I asked at the bar if I could have a glass of water to top one up. Was given a giant bowl to take out (which was great, other than trying to get through the door with 2 drinks, a dog and a bowl of water…….just thought one of the staff could have recognised the situation and helped as the pub was not busy at all!!). Ordered the sausage baguette and was told it came with chips - there were literally 5 chips on the plate. (Lucky I knew my husband would want an extra portion as he had just run 26km cross country and would want something substantial). The sausages were greasy and grizzly; the chips were not hot, the salad was wilted. I had already paid for the meal and flat cokes and Hubby went in to buy two beers - we were charged for everything again! (Genuine mistake and they refunded straight away). The ladies toilet did not flush properly. I have to say - I am normally the person who gives cracking reviews - but this was not a pleasant experience in any way. (Other than the lovely views). Guys - you need to up your game - simple pub food is not that difficult, and staff should be geared up to provide a fun, happy, interactive good service. (By fun - I mean staff who are enjoying their job, by happy - I mean service with a smile, by interactive - I mean a good personality). As I say - most customers would need to drive to this pub, or aim for it during a country walk - It should be a place to return to time and time again.

The staff here are great and the pub is in a great location. Our experience is similar to many others. The food can be great but it can sometimes also be disappointing and it's the lack of consistency that's the issue. Because it's very popular it gets busy at certain times and they seem to struggle with the numbers. We've probably eaten here 5 or 6 times in the last couple of years and have had issues 2 or 3 times which really shouldn't be the case. They always look to resolve the problem but I'd much prefer there not to be an issue in the first place. Will try again as its such a nice pub.

Lovely small cafe with plenty of outdoor space. Friendly member of staff, coffee and cake excellent. If you are looking for Italian chocolates or biscuits, the small shop is a treat. A great start or end point for a countryside walk . Thoroughly recommend.

A friend and I had a very disappointing lunch at the Horseguards yesterday. The cheese, leek and smoked haddock tartlet was a pre baked pastry case with a runny cheese and leek sauce and a small piece of smoked haddock on top, not what was expected and the Asian beef salad was awash in soya sauce, in fact a centimetre of soy sauce was left in the bowl after I had eaten the beef and vegetables. The chips were dry and inedible and we left them. The worst thing was that it was my birthday and my husband had phoned and pre paid for two glasses of sparkling wine for us that did not materialise. My husband phoned to complain and although the manager accepted that they had made a mistake, all that was offered was a refund of the money he had already paid. We won’t be eating here again.
