Decided to book The Sea School Restaurant for a family lunch to celebrate my father’s birthday. Although I didn’t mention the birthday when booking staff obviously picked up on the fact and presented my father with a small cake on a beautifully decorated plate when desserts were served. Lunch was delicious, very well presented and great value. Staff were attentive without being in your face; it was a very smooth operation overseen by the Restaurant Manager, Marius. Would definitely eat here again.

I have reviewed my stay in the Hotel, but thought a separate review for the Restaurant would add to the excellent stay. The setting is really beautiful overlooking the front gardens to the stream, an air of peace and quiet abounds. Service was first class, at breakfast and dinner. The Halibut was superb, I just managed the ' ice cream ' on it's own for dessert - the desserts I could see looked amazing. If staying at the hotel ' DO ' dine in the restaurant. I long to return.

Visited with friends for lunch 6 December. Very busy as obviously catering for lunch party in reception are but dining in separate room. Friendly greeting and escorted to the lunch dining room. Fairly small menu which included a two or three course set menu option. I had a starter of devilled kidneys and mushrooms on toast which was almost a meal in itself and soooo delicious! We all chose the shepherds pie for the main which can be pretty boring and tasteless but no such fears at the Mill Stream. My two lunch companions then went for Knicker Bocker Glories for dessert which were deemed superb. I would have liked to join them but was so full from my two courses I had to pass. the waiting service was both excellent and helpful and was not in anyway obtrusive. My first visit but will not be the last

THEY DO NOT ACCEPT AMERICAN EXPRESS CREDIT CARDS! Well managed Covid 19; temperature checked on arrival, plenty of hand sanitisation gel and all seats in lounge area taped to show they are safe to use. Appropriate distancing in the restaurant. Mr Patel, restaurant manager was very welcoming. This modernised old building is charming and spotless.Tempura prawns were lightly battered with succulent prawns. Chalk stream trout was perfectly cooked with a rich creamy sauce. Roast pork with the nicest apple sauce and roast potatoes. All the dishes were perfectly accompanied without having to order side dishes. All well presented and delicious. Wines were overpriced with not a good range of selection. Would probably visit again if they accept AMEX or we are being treated.

Our experience was of a well spaced room. Far from being ‘non existent’ Covid precautions extended to having our temperature taken on arrival. Our mains of Trout and of Fish Cake were nicely seasoned and properly executed. Service was pleasant and efficient. I do agree that the decor in the restaurant is of a bygone era..and that is not a compliment! But on a sunny September day it was a good place to be.

Looking at the photos this place looks fresh, fairly modern and somewhere you would want to eat. In reality, this place looks like a nursing home with tired decor, no atmosphere, dull office style lighting and somewhere you definitely would not go on a romantic date night meal. Internally the place looks like an old motel, not hotel, or like I said a nursing home. The carpets and curtains are as old as many of the clientele and the service was intrusive/impatient (chasing us for our order several times), but nonchalant thereafter not bothering to clear away the menus (until asked) that clearly got in the way. When sitting down for a 'fine dining' experience, you expect table cloths, candles, and salt and pepper mills, not bare tired OAP home tables with little sachets of salt and pepper and a fake candle in an upturned candle holder. There was a complete disregard for COVID-19 as well. We (2) were crammed in between 2 parties of 4 (elderly people so more vulnerable) in a small area of the restaurant, being led to believe they were SO busy this was the only table left. On exploring I discovered round the corner the rest of the restaurant was empty and we needn't have been shoehorned in with no privacy. The food was below average, the steak was tough and the duck tasteless, but for the prices it was a rip off. They even tried to enforce a 10% discretional gratuity, by automatically putting it on the bill, designed to make any visitor look bad asking to have removed. I would certainly never go back there and at the prices I felt ripped off, especially as a week before I went somewhere that cost twice as much and was fantastic. It's a shame as we went there on a date night out and upon entry felt deflated by the decor and ambiance but had higher hopes for the food and service which was equally deflating, leaving us wishing it was earlier so we could go somewhere else to pep up our evening.

A pleasant evening overall but for a Saturday night didn't appear very busy so lacked a bit of atmosphere. The amuse bouche was really lovely and great flavours. When my calves liver arrived it was nicely presented, but oh dear, very overcooked and quite thick slices.I spoke to our lovely waitress who immediately apologised and arranged for a replacement. This was better but I am a great fan of calves liver and often cook it at home.In my opinion it should be thinly sliced and have the texture of soft velvet.Really disappointed.Having said this my husband's was ok and the beef and chicken dishes ordered by our friends were delicious. The two puddings were also lovely. We were not charged for a bottle of wine by way of an apology which was appreciated.

At the beginning of this year, I was with my husband in Bosham near Chichester. On the second evening of our adventure, we booked a table at the fabulous 2 AA Rosette Millstream Restaurant.Location:Millstream Restaurant is located in the center of Bosham village in The Millstream hotel. It can be easily reached by car from Portsmouth or Chichester – the drive takes around 20 minutes.Atmosphere:The restaurant has an elegant décor and an inviting atmosphere with lots of natural daylight supplemented by the views across the gardens. We were welcomed by Zsolt who was attending our table through the night. He was extremely professional. The menu:Millstream Restaurant serves dishes that are prepared according to traditional recipes, with a modern twist. Head Chef Neil Hiskey sources the best ingredients and takes pride on bringing the flavours out in each dish. All guests can choose from A La Carte menu providing at least 6 choices for each course with some of the dishes changing daily.Starters:I decided to order Seared Scottish Scallops with some black pudding, apple, celery and verbena salad. The dish was delectable. My husband decided to have some home cured salmon Gravadlax with pickled fennel, dill, crème fraiche and accompanied by lemon rye bread. It was perfect!Mains:There was a few great mains on the menu so it was difficult for me to decide what I should have. After a bit of a consideration, I ordered a fillet of bream with some shellfish bisque, cornish potatoes, spinach, crab beignet. The dish was really tasty.Desserts:I am always looking forward to having a dessert and I ordered some pistachio cake that was accompanied by almond cream and cashew nut ice cream. It was delectable! My husband decided to have a selection of Sussex and Hampshire cheeses with oatcakes, wafers and quince jelly. He enjoyed them with a glass of port recommended by our waiter.Overall experience:We both had a lovely time Millstream Restaurant and will definitely return here when we are in Surrey. The restaurant serves delicious food based on fresh, seasonal ingredients and the service was faultless. If you are looking for a great meal then you should definitely book a table and experience it yourself.

It has been a while since we’ve been to the main restaurant at Millstream and it appears to have changed little apart from a lick of paint, which is a very good thing. I don’t know how the 2 rosettes are arrived at, but they lead you to expect something relatively good. However, this is not the case, as the food in this restaurant combines a subtlety with real depth of flavour that is rarely found. We can’t remember what we ate last year at an establishment with a Michelin star, but then we can remember dishes from our visits to the Millstream restaurant, even from ages ago, which says a lot. This restaurant definitely has a winning team, with exceptional food accompanied by excellent service, both to be proud of. Only two stars, you've got to be kidding!

We went to lunch at the Millstream to celebrate my birthday, the food was good, and the service ok. However when it came to pay the bill, things were not so sweet. The lunch menu is not cheap at £27.50 for three courses, the dinner menu is even more expensive at £42.50 for three courses. So we get the bill, we only had one glass of wine, one soft drink and two courses each. The bill came, and we paid and added 10% tip. Then we thought- again, and studied the bill again- we had been charged the evening prices! We pointed this out to the Maitre'D, who didn't apologise, and mumbled something about he gets confused between the two prices for lunch and dinner- how convenient! It was broad daylight and the sun was shining brightly. He took the bill away and came back 20 mins later with the amended version, BUT, having conveniently left on the original tip of 10% of the higher bill. We couldn't be bothered to wait another 20 mins for them to change that so left, disgusted. This looked clearly to us as though this happens frequently, and knowing that people don't like to make a fuss in public rely on customers just to pay. I wonder how many people have been ripped off in this manner? Not recommended.

As a local and having visited the hotel several times and eaten in Marwicks bistro, I did not hesitate to recommend the hotel to an elderly friend who wished to stay in the area.On dining with him in Marwicks (the restaurant being fully booked) on Wednesday, 12th September) I felt that the menu was not as varied as is usual and that my friend had to decide on the burger which he did not enjoy. I usually have the Thai curry but decided to have the hake dish and found it tastleless and smothered with pesto thus ruining the flavour. However, the staff were very attentive and had no issues with the service. However, I understand that the following morning, breakfast was chaos ! Staff running around like headless chickens not knowing which table food was going to and plates not being cleared. A lengthy waiit resulted. However, when breakfast came it was satisfactory and everything was fine. Breakfast the following morning was as it should have been.In his room my friend requested a bath mat but it never materialised and he had to request a second time for fear of falling. This has resulted in complete embarrassment for me especially reflecting on the price which he was prepared to pay as he thought (and I) it must be of a high standard. Sadly no.

The Millstream Restaurant has a good reputation so I was looking forward to my visit. The service was excellent and very attentive but the meal was let down by the main course. I ordered short rib of beef. What turned up was a rather unexpected and it would not have been amiss to call it "pulled beef" in a block. Stringy beef had been compacted into a rectangular shape and then served with some rather indifferent vegetables. The starter and desert were OK but nothing exceptional. The whole meal was however let down but the main course.

We both think the Millstream is in a beautiful setting, with attentive and welcoming staff. However, although the lunch we had here was beautifully presented and flavoursome we were quite taken aback by the fillet steak supplement (on top of the £3 each supplement extra for the scallops). Don't get me wrong, we are happy to pay extra for such tasty food, however, there must have been a maximum of 4oz of fillet on each plate so not sure why a £23 for two courses turned out to be £34 plus £4 each a side for potatoes and veg! So 2 courses for 2 people came to £80 with only 4oz of fillet each!!

Whilst staying at the Millstream, which certainly is a pleasant , and well situated hotel, A visit to the fine dining room is a worthwhile experience. It would be difficult to fault the quality of fare provided, the Chefs are quite clearly talented and the presentation first class, couple that with excellent and rewarding tastes and this is a very good dining venue. My only very slight comment would be that accepting that it is a good restaurant, the quality of service could be improved, it is never good enough having given your order to the Maitre D to be asked "who is having what" when the plates arrive. But a minor point and certainly no reason for not enjoying the splendid fare on offer and the otherwise friendly service.

OK so there are 2 problems with the main restaurant. Firstly it’s not unusual to find that nearly all of the customers are over 75, particularly out of the holiday season. Most of the pre-retirement age diners seem to head for Marwicks brasserie. But don’t let that put you off, as you’ll be seriously missing out. The food in the main restaurant is packed with flavour, the service is excellent and there’s a welcoming ambience. There’s little extra touches, such as the amuse bouche and the handmade chocolates, that elevate the experience. End to end, it easily betters Bailiffscourt which is almost double the price. The second problem is you’ll be comparing everywhere else to the Millstream, which somehow just does it that little bit better. Oh and if you like the dining experience on your cruise ship holiday, give this place a try.

The Restaurant was fairly full with hotel guests and a party of ~20 people at an Anniversary party, the service was excellent, staff where appropriately attentive and allowed time better each course. Would recommend this venue for that special occasion, but be sure to book.

We have dined here on a number of occasions over the years and have never had anything but excellent service. Always a warm welcome from the manager who ensures you have a perfect time. The restaurant has a nice ambiance, the food is superb and very well priced for such a nice place. Thank you.

Really nice hotel but expect to pay for it. We stayed here for three nights b and b and for the money we could have had a week in Spain. Not complaining though it really is lovely and a special treat for us. Would recommend.

Thought it worth the time to submit my first ever online review. Visited in September for a family lunch. Booked for the main restaurant not the brasserie. Some of the best food I've had for some time. Not cheap but very good value. They have a talented team in the kitchen.

Stayed for two nights when visiting nearby Chichester theatre" 5 stars for Fiddler on the Roof". Exceptionally friendly and efficient staff, our package included the very full English Breakfast which was 1st class. Didn't have dinner there but on two occasions we enjoyed good quality smoked salmon and roast beef sandwiches at lunchtime including a complimentary glass of wine on our arrival day. Hotel rooms consistent with its rating and found the mix of marble and tiles with a skirting strip of carpet in the en suite slightly strange. Hope their on going refurbishment changes this. Lovely gardens back and front and simple parking and we would certainly return and enjoy all the features beautiful Bosham offers.

Having been for a walk around the harbour we came here for lunch in the garden. Service was friendly, efficient and prompt. The sandwiches were excellent with a choice of different and tempting choices. We had Crab with lime and Chicken and Tarragon mayonnaise with a dressed garnish. The setting was peaceful and the garden and grounds were pretty and very well maintained.

Rather for the more elderly person wanting to escape the tourists. Good food but a little stuffy and not cheap

This is a lovely gracious restaurant, with impeccable service and delicious food. We went here for a special lunch with relatives and were very impressed. We had the '2 courses for £18.50' lunchtime deal, and were delighted with the meal. The food was beautifully presented - my husband said that the twice baked blue cheese soufflé was the best starter he'd ever had - and we all found our various options were attractive and most tasty. We were served attentively but not intrusively and were even given delicious hand made chocolates with our coffee. Altogether a very good experience!

Compliments to the fantastic restaurant team. My family took me to the Millstream for dinner for my birthday. Firstly, the staff are incredibly astute. Unfortunately I didn't catch names- but attention to detail was greatly appreciated- like carrying my gifts over to my table, helping my mother over a step. My family all agreed the staff are a discerning, perceptive, friendly group of young people. We all enjoyed our meals; the trout was splendid- the flavours of each individual component, flooded through. Recently, we enjoyed a meal at another locally renowned restaurant within the Goodwood estate ..... The Millstream at Bosham is my new number 1! A very well done all of you.

Lovely cream teas, especially if weather is permitting , outside. Great setting in pretty village, visit the Arts and Crafts centre afterwards, and walk down to the water is enchanting.

This restaurant is a delight. Really good food and wine. Beautifully cooked and served with an efficient staff. Need to change the glasses to something a little finer to ensure that the excellent wine list can be better appreciated.

We were fortunate to be able to peruse the menu outside while partaking in a homemade strawberry prosecco. The menu has asterisks next to the dishes which can be included in the fixed menu. Careful though if specials are recommended as these are not included, even when cheaper than dishes included. This spoiled somewhat our memory of the meal as we had some confusion at payment time. Plates not overly full, prices quite high, tastes good. Most staff Italian and not easy to comprehend.

We discovered the restaurant here almost by accident as we thought it was only a hotel, but how pleased we were to have found it. The food was really excellent and the staff were so friendly, they went out of their way to make sure everything was to our liking especially for my friend who has gluten free requirements. We will certainly go back there again.

The Millstream Hotel is a really lovely looking building, plenty of parking at the back. We had booked lunch in the restaurant although the menu in both the restaurant and brassiere are identical!Nicely furnished and the tables all looked really pleasant. Service seemed a bit rushed to start with as we were given very little time to look at the menu and choose - the waiter had to come back twice before we were ready!Great choice of dishes, very nice complimentary breads. There is a set two or three course menu as well as the a la carte - certainly enough choice for everyone. Daily specials also displayed and explained.Food was cooked to perfection, well presented and served by friendly waiters.Deserts were glorious and a lovely touch to have hand made chocolates served with the coffee.Would certainly recommend the restaurant and would also choose the hotel to stay in if I were in the area.

Enjoyed staying here even though price was a little higher than I would normally pay. The rooms are reasonably equipped and clean. The bar wasn't as cheap as the local pubs but most drinks were bottles.Breakfast was very good if not a little late starting in the day for me. Also not sure about the staff putting the source on your breakfast for you.The staff were all friendly and helpful.

Went with friends who live in the area who come here a lot - and I can understand why.It oozes quality - if slightly old fashioned decoratively.Everyone had different main courses and each said how good theirs was - my crab salad was a special of the day and could not have been better.

Chef Ravi rose magnificently to the curry challenge! I managed to down about half my venison and prawn curries, served with rice and condiments, but luckily my companion finished his grilled skewer and demolished the rest. Terrific to have authentic Indian food available in Graffham (on special request). Bravo to the the White Horse for extending its excellent range.

My wife’s aunt and cousin enthused about this pub so we decided to have lunch with them on a Thursday in November. The pub is signposted from the main road and is down a narrow lane to Chidham with passing places at intervals. The car park at the back is not so large so many visitors seem to park in the village. Virtually every table was taken which is always a good sign for mid week dining. The four of us had a variety off of dishes and my seafood tagliatelle was delicious. We were very impressed with the speed of service from the two lovely ladies and lively atmosphere of the pub. The portions are quite large so if you have a smaller appetite we would recommend their small portion menu. My wife’s cousin recommended the mussels which were not on the menu the day we visited so we must return to try them. A very enjoyable lunch catching up with old friends too.

Visited here for afternoon tea. Welcome was ok, but then we waited for a while to see if there was a free table. Bizarrely no one else was in the cafe and the upstairs service where we were seated was almost unfriendly and you felt you were in the way. When we asked for a spoon for our tea we were greeted with a huff and puff… Gets good reviews elsewhere, but sadly not from us..

So disappointed by this place . First visit and won’t be returning! Ordered Avo on sourdough with poached eggs . Asked for the eggs to be well done . It wasn’t sourdough but cheap white bread . Eggs were runny so asked them to redo . 2nd attempt the eggs were still runny so my partner ate it . Large coffees ordered and just a normal sized cheap mug and not very hot . £17 totally wasted . We also ordered a croissant which was the only thing acceptable. Customer service - zero! Young staff who don’t care , smile or make u feel welcome . They need training asap or replacing . Us customers pay their wages - at least earn if . Doesn’t cost anything to be helpful or to smile . Will NOT be returning .
