So disappointed by this place . First visit and won’t be returning! Ordered Avo on sourdough with poached eggs . Asked for the eggs to be well done . It wasn’t sourdough but cheap white bread . Eggs were runny so asked them to redo . 2nd attempt the eggs were still runny so my partner ate it . Large coffees ordered and just a normal sized cheap mug and not very hot . £17 totally wasted . We also ordered a croissant which was the only thing acceptable. Customer service - zero! Young staff who don’t care , smile or make u feel welcome . They need training asap or replacing . Us customers pay their wages - at least earn if . Doesn’t cost anything to be helpful or to smile . Will NOT be returning .

I’ve been working from home for a while now and just needed a change of scenery so thought I’d check out South Downs Coffee. The staff were friendly and very welcoming. They serve the best coffee around here and were happy for me to set up my laptop. They even offer free Wi-Fi. Will definitely be back!!!

I live close by and always pop in for my morning coffee. It was my day of from work and thought I would come in and have a bite to eat. Their menu is very inviting with lots to offer, I decided to go for the buffalo chicken bun, it was delicious will definitely be popping in for food more often. I also bought some of their homemade giant cookies which were well received by my children. Definitely a great addition to the village.

I work in the South's Downs & often have to go out on site. Luckily my area includes Fernhurst which has an added bonus of this lovely little place. The food is excellent with a good choice of meals & good value for money (I'm working my way through the menu). The staff are really welcoming & lovely to chat to too. Would always recommend this for a quick stop, drink or some lunch. I look forward to my next visit 😊

I recently visited the aptly named Southdowns Coffee Co, which is situated just on the Edge of Sothdowns country park in the pretty village of Fernhurst. I ordered a American with oat milk and a Italian melt, which was homemade salsa, nut free vegan pesto and vegan cheese on a floured ciabatta style baguette. The girls in the shop were very friendly and happy to accommodate my vegan choices. The food arrived quickly and was hot and delicious. I would definitely recommend this shop for both food and its great tasting coffee.

Had a fabulous coffee and ice cream at the second branch that they've now opened down at the village green. Idyllic setting with open green spaces, beautiful houses and even a playground for the kids We were lucky enough to be there at the same time that a cricket match was in progress. Could you get any more English!?

The coffee here is gorgeous. Gluten free caramel slice is the best around. Staff are super friendly and now fresh ciabatta on a Tuesday. Fabulous

Having been on a longish journey in the car to the village of Fernhurst, we needed a coffee and a loo. This place looked ok as we made a right turn into Vann Road. We parked in the free car park just behind the post office on the left and walked about 30 metres to the coffee shop. Clearly to ensure COVID compliance, there was a hand sanitiser for customer use at the entrance. I was pleased to see the COVID QR Code check in as we went in, and noticed that the interior was immaculately clean. All food was behind the spotless Perspex screen. We ordered a cup of tea, a cappuccino with oat milk, a tiffin bar and a very good sized piece of fruitcake. The cappuccino was well made with just the right amount of froth. The fruit cake...... Mmm, I’m certain home made. It was very tasty, moist and full of fruit so no way mass produced. The staff (2 I think) were both very well presented, both masked (before we walked in so clearly abiding by the rules), and both very friendly making us feel very welcome. I noticed the green Food Hygiene Rating of 5 (very good) on the front window. We sat outside as it was sunny and mild. Yes it’s beside a main road. Yes the seats outside are not the greatest but, overall, a really pleasant visit where I felt I got good friendly service at a reasonable price. The loo was clean with good hand washing facilities. I highly recommend this coffee shop and hope they can survive in the present times. If I can get to this area again, I will make a point of going back to support them, I hope anyone reading this who gets to that area makes the effort to support them too. By the way, Crossways Fruiterers just around the corner in Vanns Road has a lot more than fruit so worth a look. Small shop with big stock!

Hadn't been here for many years, but will definitely be coming back again soon. We had a lovely evening with excellent real pub food. Very large portions, won't be hungry today! Dave and Sarah are so nice. Best pub I've been in for years.

Visited here for afternoon tea. Welcome was ok, but then we waited for a while to see if there was a free table. Bizarrely no one else was in the cafe and the upstairs service where we were seated was almost unfriendly and you felt you were in the way. When we asked for a spoon for our tea we were greeted with a huff and puff… Gets good reviews elsewhere, but sadly not from us..

My wife’s aunt and cousin enthused about this pub so we decided to have lunch with them on a Thursday in November. The pub is signposted from the main road and is down a narrow lane to Chidham with passing places at intervals. The car park at the back is not so large so many visitors seem to park in the village. Virtually every table was taken which is always a good sign for mid week dining. The four of us had a variety off of dishes and my seafood tagliatelle was delicious. We were very impressed with the speed of service from the two lovely ladies and lively atmosphere of the pub. The portions are quite large so if you have a smaller appetite we would recommend their small portion menu. My wife’s cousin recommended the mussels which were not on the menu the day we visited so we must return to try them. A very enjoyable lunch catching up with old friends too.

We went to the Potager restaurant last night. It was Locals Night. The menu was imaginative and the food delicious and well presented. The atmosphere and service was dood too. The Locals Night is excellent value and we would highly recommend
