Billy's on the Beach in Chichester

A very tasty breakfast, great coffee, friendly service and a wonderful view out to sea. Definitely a place to enjoy a relaxing meal and drink. A large car park is right next door. Free parking if you're on a motorbike.

Went here on a Sunday afternoon with quite a few kids in tow. Staff were immensely helpful and patient. They couldn't have done enough for us. Food was great, especially the fish pie. Kids portions were big too. Excellent

Nice warm vibe, friendly cafe on a pebbled beach. Dog friendly cafe with seating outside. Decent coffee and cake for £5. Clean and neat. Has specials during the week see photos. Lucky locals.

Lovely cafe by the beach, the food is deliciouss and the service is great. Everyone is very polite and nice. We had a really good experience and I do recommend this place!!

Waited a couple of hours for them to open for a takeaway and told we are not doing takeaway only eat in as we are to busy! Walked outside to see a waitress handing a takeaway to a couple. I spoke with the waitress she said yes we do takeaways! Keep clear obviously only interested when they are not busy! Shame on you, all six of us won’t be using you again.The chap we spoke to inside needs to go and have his customer service skills tuned up he was extremely rude, apparently it was the owner of the business😡

Nice place for a drink, snack or meal. Had a nice coffee on the patio with a friend. Service was good and the food looked really good...I was jealous of those enjoying their meals 😁

Fantastic location. Staff are lovely and friendly, but the past few times I have been, they seem to be unsure of the menu, or get it wrong. It could be because there new or a menu change, but either way it has happend a few times. Personally I really like it, and would love it to be open later.

Great spot down on the beach. We only stopped in for takeaway coffee as we didn’t realise we’d need to book, however the staff were really friendly, bright and welcoming and clearly understood how to give good customer service, even during a fleeting visit. The coffee was great too. I eyed up some of the food while we were standing at the till and it looked really good. We’ll definitely come back… and book a table next time!

There were issues, my all day breakfast was way overcooked, I expect everything had been under the lights for hours so the toms, the sausages, the bacon were not the greatest. My friends fish was smelling of ammonia so that got sent back immediately and a burger ordered as a replacement but that turned up overcooked on the outside and basically raw and cold on the inside so that got sent back too. The same burger came back cremated so not a great day for the kitchen.

Very decent place to eat. Bit of everything, leave it at that.

Ordered the chipotle chorizo and prawn fritters which were a decent starter. However the fish and chips were very bland so ultimately the fish was inedible even with tartare sauce. However the moules frites were very good.

Great location and views. Staff are nice, but the food is mediocre and expensive. I use the term mediocre, as the reviews from our party differed from one person to the next. Some enjoyed their choice, and some didn't. The fish and chips were awful. You do get a choice of skinny and chunky chips, both from frozen, so go with your preference. I would have preferred proper chips from potatoes, but not on offer. As already mentioned, some of the food was well received, and I can only comment on mine. Regardless, it was overpriced!

We sat outside, admittedly on a busy day and the selection was limited and the time for food to be ready was a bit long. It was amusing watching people be pestered by the gulls though, lunch and a show!

Great little place which is a restaurant at night and cafe by day. Car park was £2.70 for two hours..loos and right on beach. No overnight stays. I had a child's portion of fish n chips which was lovely and enough for me..£5.50. Think full one was £16ish. Filled up my big water bottle too at the dog bowl station just by Cafe. Defo visit again 🙂

30/8/24 Stayed in Bracklesham Bay and as this was 5 minutes down the road decided to have dinner at Billy’s one night. I had fish and chips with mushy peas. Only moan I have is that the peas were minted, and I’m not a fan of them. Cost was £15.95. The fish was cooked really well with plenty of crispy batter. Fries were excellent and I preferred these to the chunky chips that were on offer. It is a small place and they squeeze you in which made it quite warm in the room even with the door/windows open. I’ve taken a star off of the service due to the fact that I felt we were being rushed to have our meal. The only booking time left was 8pm on the Friday, and it closes at 9pm. Just felt that some of the staff wanted us out as quickly as possible!! Above all though I liked it there, they have a decent menu to choose from and would go back again.

What can I say about my experience at Bill’s? The fish and chips were, quite frankly, some of the best I’ve ever tasted. We couldn’t sit inside the restaurant because it was fully booked, and being lunchtime, there was quite a wait. So, we opted to order from the mobile van in front of the restaurant instead. The service was excellent—everything was ticketed, so we just waited for our number to be called, collected our food, and sat at the picnic tables provided. As expected with British seaside weather, it was sunny but very windy. Despite that, everyone had a smile on their face. I’ll definitely be visiting Bill’s again, as the restaurant looked very appealing and cosy. I’ll just make sure to avoid the lunchtime rush next time. Thanks, guys!

Had the most wonderful fish and chips supper on the beach at Billy's. Highly recommended. Service was very efficient and friendly. If in Brackelsham Bay be sure to head their way.

Absolutely disgusting, worse fish and chips ever. Chips were hard and the fish tasty odd. Lady serving wasn't overly polite either. This was the food van, shame as such a great location.

Recommended by locals as the best f&c around it had a lot to live up to. It didn't. Haddock and chips were fairly good but poor value at the price. Service was friendly. The restaurant was incredibly noisy. Beware of the car park machines that will try to scr#w you over.

Delicious monkfish scampi if it's a few large pieces. Not so good a second time when there were more pieces but much smaller in size, too crispy and overcooked. Was a shame as first time round they were amazing.

Very disappointed - travelled a long way to have a lovely meal here and was not impressed. Waited 2.5hrs for a burger and chips continued to ask if our order is ready waiter never came back to apologise or say anything. Service was awful - drinks were all warm (beer, soft drinks and kids drinks) once food arrived was not impressed with the meal at all! My little boys sausages were so burnt couldn’t cut them. Over priced and very rushed. I appreciate it’s a busy time of year but I would have liked someone to tell me there was a long wait or just to come explain why we’ve been sat for hours waiting. Super disappointed! Spent a lot of money for poor service and food. Not happy at all! Ruined our family day.

Excellent welcome, lovely attentive staff and really good food. Excellent breakfast for 2, at .£20.00. No service included but, obviously, happy to leave a tip. Will definitely visit again when in the area next. Highly recommend pre booking unless you're an early bird.

Sadly we missed breakfast by 5 mins! Disappointed couldn't be squeezed in but dem are de rules. Next poor overworked chef needed a day off so no food. Settled for a pint of flat piss ( sorry... Lager) Take a packed lunch and some cans would be my advice.

Great little cafe on the beach. Nice food and good service. The only issue is how popular it is, it can be difficult to get a seat and waiting times can be a bit long at very busy times. Which is fair enough. Still good, still super busy on a summer weekend! Worth the wait though 👍

Fantastic location right by the sea. But arriving at 11.45am, we were told that breakfast service was already over, and lunch service began at noon. When we tried to order at noon, we were told it was in fact 12.15pm. We were sitting outside on unreserved tables. Another family arrived and sought to order food to eat outside, but the staff refused to take their order, saying they were fully booked. Which they patently weren’t. Another couple were subsequently told they were fully booked inside, but there would be a half hour wait for food. So the left hand clearly doesn’t know what the right hand js doing. As for the food — the fish burger, served with a delicious curry sauce, was fine, but the chunky chips were a bit greasy.

The friendliest staff we encountered on our trip to Bracklesham Bay! We reserved a table for dinner, sat outside, ordered inside and had our food brought out to us. My toddler ended up only wanting to eat cucumber, so I asked if we could have just a small dish of cucumber slices and they brought out an entire bowl of cucumber slices. She ate it all up. Amazing service!

Had lunch here with my daughter. Food, staff and service were absolutely spot on. It was a very hot day so thanks to the team for making it a great afternoon. If you haven’t been here then go. You won’t be disappointed.

They were having a difficult day with broken- down equipment and staff shortages. Everyone was polite band helpful in spite of this pressure, so well done.

Great experience. We came without a booking, fully prepared to just get our favourite chunky chips at the stand, but we asked and got lucky with a table inside for the first time, so spent way more than intended, but no regrets. Lovely service, iconic beachy interior, amazing food for everyone in our group except the person with tofu tacos which were unfortunately quite bland. We were gobsmacked at how big the portions were and glad that we took the walk from West Wittering beach and back so we could burn those cals. Lovely Eton Mess sundae and those chips were better than I remember. Can absolutely still very much recommend. The loos adjacent kinda don’t match the niceness of Billy’s, but they aren’t bad and public loos overall are a precious commodity in the area so can’t complain. Hope to visit soon again, even if just for the chips.

Good little beach spot next to the car park. Ordered kids fish & chips. It was a good size and the wait wasn’t too long. However you could tell that the oil needed changing. Unfortunately there was more batter than fish. The fish itself inside disintegrated as a you tried picking it up so you couldn’t really get a good mouthful. The staff seemed lovely. Having read the reviews I was a little disappointed for my first visit

Had a really bad experience trying to get a table here. I waited 10 minutes looking at the staff having a chat before anyone came to me to inform me that all the tables were booked, even though the place was empty. If your planning on coming here, i would recommend booking first.

one of the worst fish and chips I've ever eaten, without any seasoning, the breading was very thick, the potato was fried in very dirty oil as it was all black with dirt from frying it for a long time without changing the oil, the view was only on the beach that was worth it.

Friendly-feeling place with tasty food, great that you can bring dogs in too. Fish and chips and fish burger were great, and the chocolate crunchy bar cheesecake was delicious!

We got given one of the worst tables and were cramped in. The attitude of the waitress was appalling and rude and it made us feel unwelcome. I ordered battered shrimp for starter and it wasn't even shrimp it was battered fish balls which was dry and tasted like plastic. The wait time for the mains (2 chicken burgers) was 1 hour and 15 minutes and I was debating just saying not to bother. The chicken burgers were dry and tough to bite through. The chips were also extremely crispy and over cooked. Would not recommend. Much better places for the price!

Cafe was full at 13.00 so went to the caravan to get takeaway (as advertised on their sign) Caravan was closed. Big queue in the main cafe so didn't bother.

Only had a coffee from the takeaway caravan, but would be more than happy to return. Great views along the beach from the tables.

Very disappointed with lunch. Cold food. Greasy cold fish that was supposed to be a 'fish burger' but just a smaller piece of fish with slimey skin on in a stale bun (probably frozen) . Chips had obviously be sitting around as they were cold. Staff were friendly and I didn't want to embarrass them by complaining as they were very young and I wouldn't do that. Management seriously!

The calamari was one the best I've had but the fish was disappointing.

Where bought fish and chips from the outdoor van. It was great. The staff were helpful and friendly. The food was good but alas, no veggie option, which was disappointing. Watch that the gulls don't steal your food!

This is one of our favourite places for lunch at the beach. Despite not booking( and they were very busy) a table was cleaned for us quite quickly. Our waiter, Daniel, warned us that there would be a bit of a wait for food but bought the wine we ordered straight away. The spiced calamari was delicious and the fish and chips huge and freshly cooked. The decor is very interesting especially the history of the model seaplane that hangs from the ceiling. Well done to all the very efficient and helpful staff. We will be back soon.

Oh dear what has happened to Billy’s on the Beach?! We always holiday down this way and this would be a highlight to come to, however, we will not be coming back. Having dietary problems makes things difficult, let alone when there’s missing items on the menu (which we found out when ordering not when given the menus) and coming at the changeover to lunch I had nothing I could eat as I’d have to wait until lunch started which wasn’t for another 20 minutes. This was refused as I was too early to order and we didn’t want to wait as everyone else had eaten. The food was average, toast burnt and no substitutions allowed with breakfast. Staff not accommodating and overall a completely different atmosphere from what we’ve been used to.

Great spot and a lovely airy place with excellent food. Recommend the Crayfish BLT and Fish & Chips especially.

Perfect location for Dinner by the Beach for a works ‘Summer Party’ In a word, Amazing…. Outstanding food, exceptional service in a really beautiful atmosphere with the sea and the sunset constantly in view - you couldn’t ask for anything more…. Thank you Billy’s on the Beach - utterly fantastic!!

Excellent Service, very quickly produced our full English breakfast . tables are spaced out well and are Dog friendly, nice to have the option of sitting inside or out. Would recommend

This restaurant ticks all the boxes for a seaside venue, wonderful fish and chips, great view of the sea and lovely, helpful staff. Can't wait to come back.

Lovely location but sadly, for a restaurant right on the beach, no fresh fish. East Wittering has a fishmonger and a hut selling fresh fish. How difficult is it to buy and grill a piece of fish? Have eaten here several times but honestly, there are better places to eat in the area.

£3.50 for a Twister ice cream, £17 for takeaway fish and chips from the beach kiosk. Frankly I think the council should revoke their license and let someone else operate from this location at less rip off prices given it’s a popular family location. Yes it’s a short season and they have expenses to cover but come on…
