The best restaurants serving British food in Heswall Wirral North West

Wow! What an amazing place. Everything was lovely from the environment to the staff and food. I also learned that everyone volunteers and all monies made are donated to charities and local community groups! How fantastic!

As always, the food is spectacular, service wonderful. We came for a very speedy lunch because my husband had to get back for a work meeting but they accommodated us perfectly and the food was delicious. We had chicken liver parfait to start then the beef cheek. Delicious, and superbly presented. And the beef cheek melted in the mouth! We also received a lovely amuse bouche of vegetarian haggis and some lovely homemade bread and oil & balsamic, yummy. Didn’t want the meal to end! Thank you again for a wonderful lunch date.

The Jug & Bootle is located very conveniently near the centre of Heswall and is a traditional pub/hotel which is very popular, and rightly so. Offering bar service and food with a varied menu cooked in house to a high standard. There is a dining area with full waitress service. In Good seating Inthe bar area and a wide selection of beers and spirits always available. A very warm and sociably friendly pub/hotel, managed and maintained to a high standard. Guest rooms are available upstairs, very comfortable beds and breakfasts/evening meals served downstairs. One of the best pubs in the area. Usually open at midday until 11:00pm but it's best to check the Jug & Bottle's website - table and room bookings can be completed online. Highly recommended .

Visited again today,Sunday, and enjoyed a marvellous full English breakfast ,outstanding meal. As all regular users know the food, service and atmosphere are excellent . We will be back for dinner very soon .

Very expensive and very small portions definitely won't be back

Friendly, nice staff. However, it took far too long to get a sandwich (nearly half an hour) . I'd finished my drink by the time I got it, with no offer of a refill or apology for the wait. I think they were doing a take out order. That's fine, but tell people if there is going to be a long wait. Also, not the owners fault but It's not the place for a quiet time. Very loud regulars talking to each other like they were in the next valley. Again, this is no reflection on the staff, who were nice. Just my experience on the day

The food is warm and delicious, very good customer service and very kind towards customers. Made to feel very welcome. Value for money.

We have been to a few 'Lounge' restaurants so when we saw this one we decided to give it a try. The service was very, very slow. Several customers who came in after us were served before us, and some had finished and left before our food came. It wasn't even that busy! The food was lovely, but don't visit if you're going anywhere else afterwards.

Food was Perfect so good after the first time we came back we order fr to much!! The staff serving are great, appears to be a really positive vibe, atmosphere is fantastic and hats off to the chef

We would not return we could not all have breakfast at the same time so could not eat with our daughter, husband and grandson. Could not eat at the times we wanted it was very short staffed and food items not topped up as they ran out so constantly having to ask for things like milk, butter,bread ,juice etc on the last morning the sausages were not even cooked properly it was a right fiasco we would not return here again.

I used to love it here, but my recent visit was disappointing. The manager was incredibly rude, which really put a damper on the experience. It’s clear that the standards have slipped – the place wasn’t as clean as it used to be, and the quality of the food and drinks has gone downhill. It’s a shame because it used to be a great spot. I hope they can turn things around
