This used to be a consistently good chippy, and that’s why we frequent every Saturday for a fish and chips treat for lunch. We buy, and eat in the car. Just lately it’s been hit and miss, especially regarding the fish. Today, 29/03/2025, the fish was nothing short of awful. The batter was hard, and over cooked, and what bit of fish there was in the middle of the horrid batter was tough, and chewy. Fish is a very expensive treat these days for most people. Please don’t get complacent about the quality of what you’re selling. It’s always worse when the man that usually does the frying is away. Today was one of those days.

We called in here today on the off chance that they had a free table for lunch. The lady that greeted us was lovely and found us a table straight away, bringing us menus and the special boards and took our drinks order while we chose. The inside is lively and clean and well presented. There was no feeling of being rushed at any point. My partner ordered a club sandwich and a coffee and I ordered a sweet chilli wrap and a Diet Coke. We didn’t have to wait long, while the food was cooked freshly for us. The portions were huge and so well presented. It was absolutely delicious, the chef came out and asked if everything was ok, it was more than ok! It was fantastic. The total bill came to just £18. We will definitely return here and highly recommend. Thank you for your hospitality, great staff food. A gem of a place.

Had a cup of decaf cappuccino which was half foam so only half a cup of actual coffee. My partners ordinary cappuccino was ok. I took mine to the counter thinking perhaps the machine was playing up and the assistant said, that’s just how it comes, and very rudely walked away and out the back before I could explain. The coffee was actually very nice, what there was of it.

This was poor quality and very expensive, £8 for a sausage, bacon & cheese sandwich and a steak pie. Let better quality out there wouldn’t recommend

Visited on Saturday lunch, we had Haddock pieces, Jalapeño Burger and Steak Bagette, all the meals were ok for the price. Nice and friendly staff, family run enterprise. They have only been open a few weeks so they’re still settling in. Some of the menu options were limited that being said they’re probably not run off there feet yet so will have limited supplies of some items. The bench seats were comfortable but the metal stand chairs within cushions a tad hard on the derrière. Overall it was a nice friendly lunch, with an excellent beer choice.

Food very good, but badly let down by poor service. It was very busy when we arrived but we were seated and lunch was served in a reasonable amount of time. Food was good quality so no issues. We paid and then decided to have another drink. That confused them massively! Three times we asked for two teas, and three times we were ignored. Ended up walking out. Won’t be visiting again!

This used to be my "go to" for fish and chips however since Andy left the quality has nosedived. Small greasy fish but the irish curry is good. This review is not based on a single visit as anyone can have an off night but is based on several recent friday tea time visits. Always seems to be a long wait now and looks to be understaffed with staff running round like headless chickens. I now travel to Great harwood for decent fish and chips.

Lovely little pub near Darwen/Blackburn, Lancashire. Run as a community pub. The bar has real ales as well as a decent selection of other beers etc. The restaurant is run as another business with the pub but the food we had was great and the service efficient and friendly. The menu has most of the usual pub food options. They offer some very good deals for a midweek meal too. Will definitely return.

Just before we arrived at costa we went to Greggs to buy a sousage roll for doughter. Once we walked in to Costa Missus stayed in queue while i went to toilet and daughter took a seat. We did not plan to stay at costa but just imagine that some women who work at costa approched my 7 year old daughter and said to her, YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO EAT GREGGS IN HERE, SORRY. Sousage roll was just on table unpacked, she was just waiting for me and missus. Just imagine, 7 YEAR OLD KID. Instead of talking to her parents, woman decided to challenge a 7 year old girl.

Food decent, the girl who took our food and drink orders wasn't very good, no please or thank you. No cutlery with our food, had to ask for it and get our own sauces etc. Main courses not brought out at the same time, there were only 5 people in our party, 2 had to wait nearly 10 mins. Soft drink prices were very expensive. We won't be back.
