The food was fantastic again, you wait a little longer than normal (which I personally don’t mind, especially with a glass of wine in hand) but it is so worth the wait. Would definitely recommend and will be revisiting *****

I'd love to be completely positive, but unfortunately, the service is inconsistent. Sometimes great, other times not very good, sadly. Over an hour, wait for food, staff stressed. Last visit there appeared to be no staff working. The person I thought was a customer looked up from his phone and asked can I help. Explained we had booked a table and he served us, but for rest of night when we needed anything we had to disturb the three table of phone users err I mean staff, who took their coats off and eventually served us. Have to say their moaning conversation didn't add to the festive spirit either. Having said that, the food was ok but similar in quality and price to other venues in the area with more consistently good service. Just an update no one got back to me, which sums it up really. Very inconsistent service.

Had the Duck breast last night it turned out too be two slices of duck breast probably less than half cost £24 the half duck breast was good

Visited on a Friday afternoon late February. Huge car park outside. Once inside we were given the option to sit in the bar area for our meal or move up to the Restaurant section. We opted to go to the restaurant and we were shown to our table. The place was very quiet and although there were a few people eating and drinking in the bar area we were the only ones in the restaurant section. Walking past the bar I did notice that it did seem to have an impressive choice of draft beers available. There was quite a wide range of dishes on the menu. I went for the fish pie and my brother ordered the BBQ Tower burger with fries. I also ordered a side order of triple cooked chips. We did have a bit of a wait for our food but this probably meant that everything was been cooked fresh. The fish pie was very tasty and piping hot although, for me, it wasn’t the biggest of portions. Initially I thought the triple cooked chips at £5 a serving were a little expensive but they were excellent. Really thick chips and cooked perfectly. Soft and fluffy and all of them cook evenly. My brothers burger looked a very decent sized portion and he said it was one of the nicest burgers he had enjoyed for a very long time. After my meal I wasn’t full so I opted for the white chocolate and berry cheesecake for dessert. Again, this seems to take quite a while before it was served, but I must say it was well worth the wait. It was lovely, one of the nicest desserts I have ever had. It was very rich and bursting with flavour. Even the ice cream was good and I was definitely full after this.. Our server was called Lois. She was very helpful, friendly and efficient. She told us a little about the history of the building and also the links it has with another local eatery. Based on her recommendations we will almost certainly be giving that place a visit. From what I saw of the building it appeared to be very clean and tidy. However, I found it to be quite cold where we were sat. But we were the only two people sat in that section and it was a shocking day outside. I must also point out that anyone in a wheelchair or with significant mobility problems could have some difficulties getting into or leaving the building and moving around inside. Overall, we really enjoyed our food. It is not the cheapest place around, but then this is a cut above your average pub grub. It is far better quality food than that and this is reflected in the slightly higher prices. I would definitely recommend and would certainly have no hesitation in visiting this establishment again.

Wow! This is a fantastic restaurant, so improved since our last visit a few years ago. The food and service was excellent. We visited on a Saturday evening at 7.30pm the place was very busy, this wasn’t a problem and we were shown to our table on time. The menu had a good variety of dishes and included a selection of vegetarian opinions. Please see our pictures attached. To book a seat was quite easy on the restaurant app. We will definitely be back, would strongly recommend pre booking as the place does get very busy at a weekend

Waited an hour and a half for our food and when we was seated it wasn’t very busy. The burgers were the exact same size as the kids burgers and at least £10 more expensive. Burgers tasted cheap, dry and tasteless. Awful food and ridiculously expensive for what you get. Won’t eat here again.

What a beautiful pub, lovely decor, staff and outdoor area. Entertainment were fantastic and the food was plentiful and absolutely delicious 😋

Absolutely amazing meal from start to finish. Quality produce, quality service and stunning views. Really cannot fault our meals at all and the best cauliflower cheese i have ever tasted (and I’ve tasted a fair few in my time!) Worth every penny, would definitely recommend 😋

We had a lovely meal here. The food was cooked beautifully and the service was really good. The restaurant is really comfortable & the bar is really cosy on winter’s night (sometimes have a fire going). I’ve never had any complaints with the food or service here: staff are always brilliant and friendly.

Place is freezing. Dirty thread bare carpet. won't be commending it anytime soon.. And over priced food..

Hospitality was very nice. The place was busy. Food quality very good for the price and, you got a lot for the price. Staff behind the bar and, in the restaurant were very welcoming and nice. A very nice relaxed atmosphere. Selection behind bar was ok nice selection of beers. Not much in the way of shorts unless you like gin then they have a good selection. Also they have a good selection of soft drinks. There was a minor mix up of meals but that can be expected with how busy they were at the time and was sorted quick and professionally. The place is clean and tidy and seems to be dog friendly. I would recommend it and yes I would go again.

7 of us went for Sunday lunch yesterday and as always it was amazing! Lovely meal, friendly staff and nice surroundings.

My meal of steak, that was perfectly cooked and seasoned followed by ice cream sundae was 5 stars. Wife's pot pie was very good but the sticky toffee pudding appeared to have been dried out so was tough. Advertised log burner was lovely looking but not lit and the room was a little chilly. I have visited the Britannia a number of times over the last couple of decades and notwithstanding the above slight issues this was the best it has been. All in all good value.

Perfectly cooked quality food in a welcoming and cosy atmosphere, couldn't fault it.

Having recently changed management, I am sorry to say the food is quite simply not as good. The sandwiches were not bad, but not as good as they used to be and we are unlikely to return.

Absolutely brilliant came in for a family meal had various meals all the food was amazing including the desserts the staff were friendly and helpful hope to return soon

We were looking for somewhere dog friendly and i read the bar area was, so we thought we would give it a go. Its only a small bar area but loads of space outside if its nice. The staff where great, gave us treat and water for the Dogs and the dogs lots of attention. Very Dog friendly. Food was very good but it was a little expensive for a midweek afternoon meal but would try again for maybe an evening out.

Great place to call in for after-work drinks on a Friday. Sampled the new food menu in August and whilst a tad pricey (for me) it clearly reflected the fresh ingredients, creative menu and high-quality food that was served. Minor issues with cleanliness of cutlery (water stains most likely) were resolved immediately and friendly service was provided. Looking forward to more meals here.

Just been for a dinner time ⌚ get together with family and we enjoyed it. Very friendly and welcoming and the staff are very attentive. Lovely food 🍲 and drink and a good selection to choose from. It ticked all of my boxes.

Called after a fell race for a few drinks. A good selection of beers and lagers were available and despite being busy with runners and supporters, the service was first class from helpful and friendly staff. Will certainly re-visit, possibly for some food.

Called in by chance on Saturday midafternoon the place was not busy ( good for me).We ordered fish pie chips and I think samphire and battered hake chips and peas,both meals very nice,if a tad pricy. A very nice clean and tidy eatery with a warming and pleasant atmosphere. The meal choices are somewhat limited however there is enough to satisfy most and the quality is a high standard. Drinks are a bit pricey 😕 £8 for a large wine but that does seem to be the case nowadays. There is a choice of two children's menu's that are age related so your cherubs are well catered for. Well worth a visit and yes we shall return.

It was quite quiet hence the 4 stars for atmosphere otherwise excellent, warm welcome and great value food. Will go again.

my partner had her hen night here and was well impressed so we went for sunday lunch,this was a fantastic meal,i had the beef it was cooked perfectly,the sides were good in fact the whole meal was really good ,will be my go to place for good food from now on,all in all a good time at a resonable price ,do try a visit you wont be disappointed.

Trying to be high end its not mitton Hall or Inn at whitewell are much better

Had a great meal at this place, finally restored back to the quality it used to be. The Sunday dinner was amazing with great quality meat served in a good amount, starters we had the French onion soup which was so tasty and the chicken wings. Definitely be coming back not only for the great food but the friendly staff and ultra dog friendly staff who made sure our pooch was looked after too.

It took 3 attempts to cook a medium rib eye steak and then had the staff lie about me swearing at her. All in all completely slow poor service with a very very low standard of food. How a steak house don't know how to cook a steak is beyond me, but they are trying to be something they clearly aren't, with highly over priced low quality food. Would highly recommend trying somewhere else before here.

Had to try being big fans of The White Bill in Oswaldtwistle which is now , as you will note from latest reviews , under the same management team. Visited on a Sunday afternoon in Mid May . Terrific attention to detail from the staff and the food was first class . Top marks to Sean and his team as always . If you haven’t been here since the new team took over a couple of months ago then you are in for a real treat

Being a big fan of the White Bull I was looking forward to trying their latest venture, I certainly wasn't disappointed! I had a fillet steak, which really was very, very good & the peppercorn sauce was to die for! The restaurant looks good & the service was great so another new great local option for great food at reasonable prices

Had to try this seen as the White Bull is so good and this place did not disappoint. The service was great and the food! Well it was delicious……. I had to give my compliments to the chef. We had fillet steaks and they were cooked to perfection. We got sides of spinach in garlic and cream, thick cut chips and skinny fries and long stem broccoli and bacon!!!!! We soaked this in the pink peppercorn sauce which was very nice. It’s was yummy. Will be back soon. 👍🏻

We walked in the place was empty , anyway we gave it a try , we ordered our food and now we know the reason why it was empty the food was awfull and very overpriced, this place used to be awsome but unfortunately has gone right down the lady behind the counter was rude aswell, in all a very over priced waste of our time never again 👎

Visited this restaurant on a Wednesday afternoon for a meal. On entering the restaurant we were met by friendly bar and waiting staff. We were escorted to a table where an old fashioned coal fire was burning. We were not rushed into ordering our drinks or food which was satisfactory. We were surprised at the presentation of our meal which looked tasty, well cooked and inviting. The meal was excellent and we will not hesitate to recommending this restaurant to friends and family. We look forward to visiting again soon.

We came across this pub on a drive the other day and decided to book in for lunch Really cosy style pub with lovely log fires, different seating areas and a large car park There are amazing views from the back of the pub Extensive menu with something for everyone and the prices are decent also Far too many pubs these days yet to make their menus posh and fancy but this one is great home cooked food and lots of choice We had the plate meat & onion pie with chips & mushy peas and the steak & ale pie with chips and peas. They were large portions and really tasty We also had a pudding each, a cheesecake which was a round one which was cute with icecream and the almond & raspberry bake with custard Will definitely be coming back here as we had a lovely time The waiter and waitress were both so friendly and helpful A credit to the pub

What a delicious meal me and my friend have just had at the Britannia. I went for the home made cheese and red onion pie and oh my word I wasn’t disappointed. It was delicious. My friend had the Cajun burger and she too said how delicious it was. The service was wonderful. The only thing I would like to comment on is they didn’t offer a desert menu. I thought they should at least ask if you want a desert. I will def be going back.

Myself and my partner went for a meal after work. Ive got to say the steak was perfect. I always order medium rare and in alot of restaurants it can be hit and miss. But it was perfect. My partners pie was delicious. Loved the christmas decorations and ambience. Even tho the manageress was on her own there was no fault in service. We will be back very soon.

Called in for lunch on a Sunday was not busy but we were seated directly in front of the log fire so had to move the table. I ordered just a starter as not too hungry which was mushrooms in a stilton sauce, it was good but only a tiny amount of Stilton sauce. My partner ordered small fish chips mushy peas it came with garden peas! The blackcurrant and lemonade ordered came as just lemonade. all in all the food was good and a good cup of tea. After paying the bill discovered they had charged for a large portion of fish n chips so went back to tell them. initially told that a small portion was in fact ordered but if it says large in the kitchen there was nothing they could do. the kitchen did say a small portion was ordered so the waitress said she would have to bring the manager. after quite a wait the manager came and refunded the extra £4.00, no apology, and a patronising" thanks darling" from the young waitress to a person in their sixties i dont appreciate.

We were passing through and saw this fantastic building and were curious as it looked amazing. We were not disappointed at all. I had the Steak and ale pie and although don’t normally get excited by a pie I had to complement their chef as it was perfect! My wife was not disappointed by their burgers either. Lovely Staff, great service, not rushed but not too laid back. I would 100% recommend to any travellers looking for a drink and a bite to eat in Oswaldtwistle (I hope I spelt that right!)

Fabulous pub, beautiful bar. Food is brilliant. This was our second visit and the staff are great. Set in scenic area with views all around the pub. Dog friendly too. Well worth a visit any time of year.

For our first meal out in 8 months, we chose the Britannia Inn, to celebrate three birthdays which we missed in January & our new-found freedom freedom lockdown. I had the chicken liver pate which came with warm crusty bread, onion chutney & salad. It was as good as any I've had, very nice indeed. This was followed by beef cheek, creamy mash, a selection of fresh veg & a very nice gravy----all delicious.The rest had black pudding stacks, salmon, chicken, belly pork & a burger. They were all happy with their choices & enjoyed the food.The staff were pleasant & helpful & we have vowed to return again soon.A great evening out.

I had a disastrous visit here a few years ago and not been back since even though I had heard good reports.So I called ahead and reserved, which is advised at this time as they come to terms with latest regulations. The first thing to note is the pub is spotlessly clean and tables are more spread out. All this makes the pub seem less cosy but has to be to keep us safe.Everything is table service which is something we all must learn, including the staff. When to leave you in peace? When to ask if you want a fill up?No drinks without food of course. But they have brought out a modest menu which looks good value.I ordered a minced beef pie and chips which was actually straightforward, homely, tasty and fulfilling. At about £8 it was certainly good value and I felt well fed. Peas and gravy were standard fare which were exactly right for the meal.A couple of pints of nice beer to wash it all down which was well kept and presented.Service overall was excellent, food was just right and great value, beer was very good.I will certainly come again

I’ve not been here for years & decided to give it a go as quite a few places aren’t open on Mondays & Tuesdays. It’s a lovely place with a friendly team. Had lamb burger with goats cheese & home made chips which was excellent & my daughter had vegetable lasagne with garlic bread. We were both stuffed as good size portions. There was a reduced menu due to the situation & uncertainty around COVID but to be honest there was plenty to choose from. It’s a really good size restaurant & would be great for a do (when we can have them again).Well worth a visit

The brit is one of our local pubs... probably my fave since the whole ‘covid thing’ as it’s spacious and I’ve never felt ‘crammed in’ whilst dining here for lunch/evening meal ... as soon as I saw their post about breakfast I couldn’t wait to try it. All of our others meals have always been perfect and the breakfast is now on that list! Everything was cooked perfectly (even the poached eggs!) & so tasty... proper sausage and bacon... and the home made hash brown was a fab touch. We used the take-away option so then we could easily share the left overs from the generously portioned ‘large’ breakfast with our dogs. (Although I know full well if we’d of dined in, the guys there would of collected the left overs and let us take it home for them too..) it was packed up perfectly for me to drive it home and I can’t wait to have it again :-) thanks guys. Perfect addition to your menu!

I ordered belly pork and when it arrived it looked well presented and my mouth watered the taste was fantastic my wife ordered vegetarian curry also well presented and just right.

Splendid food - we had the steak and ale pie and burger, followed by syrup sponge and custard. Could hardly move by the time we left - and it was marvellous. So tasty. All made so nice by the friendly staff. Can’t wait to go for breakfast

visited just after lock down , we have been gong there ever since . spotless and clean , friendly welcome every visit and as for the food beautifully executed and all home made . very dedicated chef and team ... PLEASE VISIT YOU WILL NOT BE DSAPOINTED .

Had a meal here this week, the steak and ale pie was outstanding, packed with meat and plenty of gravy served separately, the pastry just melted in the mouth, chips were hand cooked with skin on. The fish and chips were also excellent, very generous portions. All social distancing measures were followed and it was a very enjoyable safe experience. A welcome break in these stressful times.

We dined here to take advantage of the eat out to help out scheme. Its been years since I came to this pub and I was surprised at how good it looked inside.The tables were all spaced out & although it was busy people had more than enough space between tables. We dined off the 3 courses for £20 menu which was good value for the quality of food we had.We had empty plates all around and the trio of sausages was particularly good!

I live locally and have eaten in the Brit for nearly 7 years but only ever occasionally as I never loved the food, Until now. The vegetarian curry i ordered this week was exceptional! Our food was fresh, tastey and far from typical pub grub! The kids meal where fab and plentiful. Staff lovely who got us afew extra biscuits to keep the kids happy with our cups of tea. (Pricless when 2 year olds are hungry and singing baby shark 293847382 times) Beautiful new decor, atmosphere fun and relaxed. Myself and sister called in on our way from a walk with a 7 month old and two two year olds and were seated in a large booth so we could park the pram and scooter with ease.Everything made so accessible and welcoming, which you don't always feel when your loaded with kids, who are hungry and tired. So pleased that this gorgeous pub has been revitalised by new management and eternally grateful for a great chef. Will be back asap!
