The best restaurants serving British food in North West

We parked to the rear to go on a local walk with the hope of a pint afterwards. When we got back the landlord opened early for us (a group of 9) to have a well earned pint, pet the pub dog (Sonny) and play some darts! Really friendly, lovely welcoming atmosphere. Thank you!

Tuve el vegetariano inglés completo, que era bueno, pero se mejoraría con una porción un poco más grande, y tomate a la parrilla en lugar de estañado. mi pedido de papas fritas eran pequeños cuadrados de patatas impares en lugar de fichas adecuadas. El vaso que venía con mi coca estaba sucio. Algunas mejoras y podría ser genial.

Lovely food and fancy atmosphere. We did book in advance had to wait. By the young gentleman managed to sort out. He was very nice to us and offered free dessert.

Came here after reading the reviews. Really enjoyed what we had (full breakfast and bacon barm), excellent coffee and friendly service - would visit again.

This is the most pretentious and pointless cafe I have ever been in. As a cyclist I have been in virtually every cafe in the county, but none have ever prompted me to write a negative review. I arrived at exactly 13:30, after a long cold ride and in need of some hot food, which was simply a toasted tea cake and a pot of tea. I was told, point blanc, “hot food has finished, as we close at 2 pm”. Within a few minutes of sitting down, all be it a very pleasant and small venue, a ridiculously loud, automated loud speaker announcement came on, telling us that hot food had now finished. The women opposite me almost jumped out of her chair. Over the next 20 minutes there were 3 more announcements, basically counting down to closure. It was laughable, especially when the ‘Big Brother’ like voice told us that the team had started their shut down procedures or words to that effect. The final announcement at 13:55, which was also condescending, basically repeated previous announcements, but added that everybody should take their plates etc to the counter in order to help the team. The 2 guys working behind the counter are literally only 15 feet from the customers. There are only 7, 2 seater tables and a large sofa + an arm chair to look after. There was no outside tables on the day, as there is only a pavement outside that they can put 2 more 2 seater patio tables on, but it was to cold on the day, being 3 Mar. To make it worse, they close even earlier on the weekend- Joke!

Good to have a clean and nice cosy cafa in LH

I ordered a “mega” breakfast, I think that was a push definitely needed more than a scoop of beans portion sizes and presentation were pretty poor however the actual food and items on it were delicious

The last 12 months, the meals have got smaller and the prices have got higher. Not bad food but all other chippys are so much cheaper with bigger portions.

Lovely, well designed and clearly recently refurbished to a modern and high level hotel. Friendly staff and properly dog friendly. Food for dinner and breakfast was excellent. More thought and variety for vegetarian options would be welcomed. Room No. 9 was good but there wasn’t a full sized wardrobe and our sleep was badly interrupted by water dripping from the ceiling through the fire alarm in the middle of the night; dripped a good 3 hours. This was reported the following morning and the manager did apologise which is appreciated.

We ate here on a Saturday evening, a table for 4. The host took such good care of us, we started the evening in the lovely reception room where drinks were served and then progressed to the dining room. We were made to feel so welcome and the dining room is just lovely. The food was exceptional and one of the best dining experiences we have had for quite a while in the UK. If you're a foody, you'll love it. Great menu and good prices and large glasses of good and very reasonably priced wine. Do not hesitate to book this place, it's quirky, characterful and memorable. We loved it! Definitely book it.

Beautiful food people and service. They even put th fire on especially for us. Beautiful place. Definitely recommend and be going again very soon. I had the gammon egg and pineapple which was honestly the best I've had.
