Gteat place to visit if youre a tourist- a great traditional pub in the city center. Not too busy but lovely

Great cosy pub, great selection of ales, friendly staff, superb food and a dart board. No need to go anywhere else!

We stopped in for a bite to eat and a pint while roaming the streets of Liverpool. We really enjoyed the old time homey vibes of the pub. The selection of beers and ciders is pretty top tier. There will be something for everyone's taste. Bar service was friendly and accommodating. The little food window up front offered and nice little array of dishes including fish & chips and a very tasty currywurst in a bun.

Incredible atmosphere before and after the final game of the season for LFC winning the Premier League. Best choice of ales, beers and lagers in Liverpool. Staff worked so hard on what must have been one of the busiest days ever for them

My first ever Scouse and I’m glad I got to try it here! Service was prompt - just go up, order and pay then your food will be with you shortly. I felt the portion was generous with a good balance of cabbage to complement the rest of the dish. Though be prepared the bread is coated with a lot of butter haha. My boyfriend also got a half size of fish and chips for us to try and I’ve got to say I approve them both. Glad to have tried it here. PS: It’s definitely a lively place filled with many locals also enjoying drinks here.

Many cask beers. Currently 8! Many ciders and European lagers. It’s an institution. A proper pub. Free but slow WiFi!

Visited the ship and mitre on a Saturday night and it was busy at 5:45pm. The beer selection was huge - including bottles. They had low alcohol options too on draught, including a 2.2%, 3.2% and 3.7%. We ordered a meal and the service was through a hatch which is convenient. And the food was all brought within 20 min which was great! The scouse stew was amazing - so rich and everything was melting in your mouth. The bread was super fluffy and soft with a good amount of butter ! The sausage currywurst was delicious too, I just wished it was even bigger - would probably get a different stew next time. We upgraded the side of fries to be the loaded salt and pepper fries and they were very tasty - a bit too salty at times but delicious flavours and perfectly cooked fries. I gave 4 stars for atmosphere because there were parts of the pub that smelled a bit but the pub was bustling and has great history (open since 1822), and delicious food.

Amazing pub I've been coming here since my first year at university (four years ago). The beer selection is the best in Liverpool and has very interesting and rare beers. The food is also amazing one pan band always do an amazing Job. Just a proper pub with amazing staff always worth a visit.

Staff treat you better if you are one of their regular cronies. A bit scheme like… Staffs act as if they have never had a detailed conversation with you in the last week when their mates are about. The two faced north… UPDATE Very much Greenbook territory. If you have colour, avoid. Self reflection is not common…

Top dollar pub, old school. I was there for an after show drinks upstairs which is just the most perfect setting if you’re keeping it real. Great selection of beers, all well kept. Great food from The One Pan Band at reasonable prices. Great staff.

Great food on a decent list, and a good choice of beers

Reminds me of US bars, pre craft beer when the wonders of Belgium, Germany and England were king. Homey feel, nothing fussy just clearly done with lots of love for the beers and customers. Visiting from London it's apparent what an asset as a community hub this is. Hearty food offer from the kitchen of One Pan Band really satisfying, the curry wurst sausage was a banger. Constantly rotating cask selection will make any beer lover or CAMRA member happy. Absolutely back first thing the next time we visit Liverpool!

Great vibes, great food, great atmosphere. Loaded fries and Scouse were delicious!

Calm atmosphere. I went on a Tuesday, so I'm not sure if that's how it is always (especially on weekends). If so, then it's perfect for an introvert who only wants to sit in a corner and read a book (they have books inside!). No loud music at all. It's like having a drink onboard an ancient ship library. I also highly recommend trying their beef Scouse.

Great ad. Came to buy local beers by the bottle to take away. They were sorry not to help us, having their local beers on tap. Despite everything, a beer that they had in stock was kindly offered and a tasting of two IPAs (Carnival and Tempo) which were excellent. Thank you guys. 👍🏼

Brilliant beer selection, cask and keg, with a wide bottle choice for taking away. Try a Belgian beer if you get a chance.

Regular visitor to the S &M when in town. Great, famous pub. Very decent food and very friendly staff.

It's more of a pub than a place to eat although the food they serve is great. If you want to eat quietly this is not the place but if you like the British pub atmosphere and want to eat it will be great. The fish and chips are the best I've ever had and the stew is pretty good too, plus the price is not bad. Abundant portions.

Great Liverpool welcome. Amazing selection of ales and a very generous deal on malt whiskies(and even some premium selections round the corner for a nominal extra) . Paul and the rest of the bar staff made us feel right at home! Keep it going everyone x

A big range of different European beers on tap, draught and in bottles. Felt like a real pub, not a plastic boozer you find a lot of the time in city centres. Worth a walk of you are staying nearby. Did not eat here but know people who have and have really recommended the food.

The food, for England, quite good. Very good Scouse. Of course, cleaning, like all of England, is a bit of a problem.

Love coming here for a fun Thursday night pub quiz or for a casual outing. Relaxed, and friendly atmosphere and staff always helpful. Food here is boss, highly recommend the beef scouse. Huge range of beers, and they do a nice Guinness too. One of Liverpools classic pubs.

Arriba, fuera y alrededor en una hermosa pero amargamente fría mañana de febrero, mi hermano gemelo y yo tuvimos un montón de pubs elegidos para visitar, un pub que nos dejamos caer fue The Ship & Mitre Pub , ha estado aquí antes en muchas ocasiones a lo largo de los años, siempre lo pasamos bien y así lo demostró en nuestra última visita a aquí. Este es un pub de aspecto fantástico, el interior es magnífico, muy tradicional, un bar de servicio de estilo isla domina la sala principal, decoración pubby y muebles en todo este pub en varias plantas , también hay un montón de opciones de asientos repartidos por todo este pub, es solo un pub realmente bueno para relajarse. Cuando visitamos este pub estaba absolutamente lleno de un gran ambiente, un estudio de su verdadera cerveza que debo decir que me impresionó, al final los dos optamos por tener cervezas pálidas de Brimstage Brewery, estas se sirvieron en condiciones prístinas, nos relajamos y planeamos el día siguiente mientras bebíamos nuestra cerveza pálida. Mi cerveza pálida era excepcional, una cerveza pálida dorada, con lúpulo, toques de caramelo, un delicioso aroma y regusto con un acabado suave, era solo una cerveza pálida muy buena. Ambos disfrutamos mucho de nuestra cerveza pale ale aquí antes de seguir adelante y aunque nuestra visita fue solo fugaz como en cualquier otra visita a The Ship & Mitre Pub nos lo pasamos muy bien. El Ship & Mitre Pub es fácil de ubicar a lo largo de Dale Street. El horario de apertura es; Lunes a domingo, 11 am a 11 pm. Vale la pena comprobar si estás en la zona.

Good old school pub, great food. Prices very competitive and the selection of beer and food is sound. It's got a proper community vibe. Just want to update this: I don't drink anymore, and their 0% selection is VERY decent. Enjoyed the Jever, 0.5%. So even my niche market is respected in this classic pub. My fav in the city centre. El Ship&Mitre en Dale Street es uno de los mejores, si no el mejor pub de cerveza de barril que hemos visitado, ya que ofrece 42 cervezas de barril y una gran variedad de cervezas embotelladas. Este pub brillante está ubicado en un edificio de estilo art - deco que se ve increíble. Recibe su nombre de los nombres anteriores de este pub, ya que una vez se llamó el buque insignia y también el Mitre. Este pub tiene un fantástico interior temático náutico con una magnífica decoración y muebles y muchos artículos interesantes en todo su interior de la planta baja. Tiene una sala de eventos de arte - deco en el primer piso que se ven increíbles y es un pub que hemos visitado cientos de veces a lo largo de los años, ya que es barril ales son excelentes. Visitamos aquí temprano en la tarde en un día frío helado y como de costumbre estaba muy ocupado que es como nos gusta pubs, ya que hay un ambiente mucho mejor cuando los lugares están ocupados. Cuando visitamos aquí tuvimos cerveza de barril de la cervecería Brimstage que eran 1 tarifa de calle y a un precio razonable. Es un magnífico pub de cerveza de barril que se encuentra en una zona brillante donde hay muchos bares y bares de cerveza de barril y es un pub de cerveza de barril que vale la pena visitar. A revisit to an old haunt. Did not disappoint. Had a great choice of real ales. The pub also has a great selection of Belgium beers either to drink or take away. The food is provided by a seperate company which is quite novel. It is a small select menu. The food is absolutely delicious and has good-sized portions. I had Haggis, Neeps, and Tatties. The Neeps were cubed and roasted, which was a change from the sloppy stuff. Well done. Looking forward to visiting again.

Good old-fashioned pub with a great selection of real ale. Called in for a bite to eat a good pint. While the food was lacking in the "five a day day" department, and maybe a bit heavy-handed on the salt, it was very tasty, very reasonably priced and just what was needed on a cold winter's day. Both the macaroni cheese on fries and the ham hock rarebit on sourdough can be recommended! And the sraff were lovely! Well worth seeking out.

Always a great place for drinks!

Used to go here years ago when living in Liverpool and have ventured back a couple of times more recently. Loads of good beers available, friendly service and they still have the lesser spotted quiz machine!

Simply a gem in the heart of Liverpool. We entered almost by chance, escaping the rain. To our surprise we found ourselves in a wonderful traditional British pub, with a wide variety of beers. The atmosphere was wonderful, incredible people wanting to have a good time. We even learned to play darts with another group of people.

Great beers, food and lovely staff Let down by toilets in need of attention

I liked the large choice. It was super stuff. If I ever enter the Liverpool again, I'll make a monumental effort to drink from their inappropriate glass vessels. Getting the wrong glass was hilario TBH.

Customer service A1 Sent a message to ask if they sold beers to go as needed a last minute gift for my husband. Replied really quickly to advise had an array to choose from for takeaway. Called in on my lunch break and was helped by the brilliant staff and I think the owner who was very knowledgeable in helping me make my selection. I left with 3 beers a pint glass. I know my husband will be made up with them tomorrow. We will definitely visit for drinks when we come out to Liverpool in the future.

Good little pub, was only in for one drink so didn't experience alot. But what I saw was very nice looking food, good variety in drinks and snacks. Friendly staff. Would recommend

Best pub food in the city by a mile

This is a proper drinkers pub. I didn't eat but I really wish I had because it looked incredible frankly. The real ale is good and there's a load of choice. It's a CAMRA real ale place and loved by students. There was a quiz on when I went on Thursday.

Lovely evening spent in the Ship & Mitre for a drink and some food. I enjoyed Delirium Red on tap along with a delicious bowl of beef scouse. Staff are friendly and it was a classic pub atmosphere - very lovely indeed

Love the Ship and have been going every Thursday night for 7 years - my favourite pub however, the last 2 weeks we’ve been close to walking out because of the amount of flies buzzing around the tables going for our food and drinks. Really hope this is sorted out

It's my favourite pub in Liverpool. Great memories from the mid 80s whilst at uni. It hasn't really changed too much although it now has a much broader and more fabulous selection of beers.
