Popped into the garden centre early morning and noticed a new coffee shed. Very nice coffee and delicious bakes. Seating is available, quite rustic as in the poly tunnel but warm and blankets are provided. Dog friendly too.

¡Solo WOW!

No shortage of coffee shops in Newcastle but North Shore is one of the best, probably in my top three. A soya latte with either vanilla syrup or brown sugar always goes down a treat. Not of fan of the hot chocolate, my partner always gets that as she isn’t big on coffee, seems to be hit and miss depending on who’s made it. From what I can remember, my best mate liked his chai latte. Visit both the Grainger Market location and Quayside Market stall quite often. My only complaint is the inconsistency of the staff. Some are polite and professional, others I find quite unwelcoming and unfriendly. One of the rare cases in which the consistency of the coffee outweighs the inconsistency of the customer service so it doesn’t stop me returning.

Beautiful food in a beautiful venue, but service was disappointing given the price point - and the fact that the restaurant boasts a Michelin star. We were there on Saturday night for my husband's birthday and shared the sea bass ceviche, Welsh rarebit and cured and smoked salmon- before getting a Cote de Boeuf. As I said, the food was excellent; beautifully presented and delicious. However, it felt that the servers were disinterested and inattentive because we were ordering from the a la carte menu, as opposed to the tasting menu. There were several dishes we ordered which featured on the tasting menu - which we heard described in painstaking detail to the table behind us as they we were served. Unfortunately, we received no such description of the details of the food - the various elements and ingredients, which you would typically receive from a restaurant of this level. It's a very minor detail - but made us feel very much like the "poor relation" - in spite of paying more than £250 for the privilege of eating there. (This was also reflected in the very casual - and somewhat tardy - approach to our drinks, too.) It's a shame the service let down what would otherwise have been an excellent meal.

I used to love this place, the staff were nice and had amazing pizza. But their staff members are so miserable, and didn’t call last orders which meant that she effectively told us to finish our drinks within 5 minutes because she wanted to close up. Bit weird. If they still had pizza then it would bump this review up… we ended up going to Gingerinos in Ouseburn, MUCH better.

¡Gracias Hannah!

Had a great lunch in the Magpie club today. It was lunch with Santa. We had really good food and I loved the pink roast beef. The Santa experience was nice too. The service was also lovely it felt like lots of the servers were new to it. So I mention these things as a little more polish would help. Four examples; table was set for bread but no bread was served and we had to ask for ours after the starters were delivered. Other tables were then sorted as a consequence. Second, we ordered tap water for the table with our drinks order and had to ask again at main course (the server was most apologetic). Third the menu said garlic bread with cheese as a kids starter and we got garlic bread. I pointed it out and all garlic breads after that were then cheesy. We ordered a cheese course and it came without biscuits a knife or butter. These things didn’t spoil our experience in the slightest but if they were sorted then it would have been a much smoother experience. We will definitely be back as the food, ambience, service and experience were all good.

Ye Olde Fleece is a fantastic local pub that offers a decent range of beers and can be found on High street in Gateshead. Ye Olde Fleece was one of several pub's in Gateshead that we visited and had a beer on tap which we haven't had in a long time which was McEwan's beer. Ye Olde Fleece itself is a joy to go to as the pub has a good atmosphere with nice staff and friendly locals and well priced beers. With a traditional pub interior and brilliant seating options throughout the whole pub interior and its a joy to visit especially of a Monday as it was very lively. When we visited we had a pint of McEwans dark beer which I haven't had in year's but it was fantastic and well priced at £2.50 for a pint. This is a superb pub and well worth visiting and very easy to find from High Street bus stop it's a short walk.(This is my first review of Ye Olde Fleece). Opening Hours. Monday-Thursday-11.00-23.00. Friday-Saturday-11.00-00.00 Sunday-11.00-23.00. Nearest Bus Stop. High Street bus stop.
