Jack ,Katie& Kieran’s service was fantastic, food was incredible and free pint through the app was even better. Should be 100 stars, Jack was very helpful and showed me how to get the free pint excellent service from the young gentleman that you don’t normally see.

Pretty decent pub, vibrant crowd. Good selection of drinks. Big screens to watch sports. The food is really well priced .. downsides was the wait for the food. 45 minutes for a burger. Still the staff were friendly and helpful. Sound place...call in of your passing.

Called in to have a quick drink before going to a restaurant and then afterwards on my way home. Good service and friendly staff. Good range of beers other than real ales where only one was available despite 4 pumps on the bar. Shame that there was no Abbott Ale. Pub was quiet, but we had to ask for a spray and cloth to clean our own table after sitting down. We didn't so can't comment on the food.

Friendly place, good banter, nice food katsu curry is great. Fair priced. And an absolute sun trap in the summer

My Dad and I had tea (or dinner, if you prefer) we ordered 2 plates of the Salt and Pepper Chilli Chicken from the 2 mains from 13.49 selection, I had one and we shared the other. 1 plate is 9.29 anyway. My Dad had the Chicken and Ham pie as his own dish. Both meals were really nice with plenty of flavour. I had room left for pudding so I had the Jam Roly Poly pudding. Beautiful! The service was excellent from Ellie. She was cheerful, polite and efficient throughout.

Unreal pub. Came here for my birthday staff are very welcoming. Emma and natalie were stars, booked my tables and provided amazing service all night. Burgers are on a fabulous deal (buy one get one free) and all my family and friends ate them. 100% would recommend

Came with son and partner , ordered food at till to be told no fish ? Scampi instead , Waiter came to table to say no texan bbq sauce ? Also said no flatbread ,no hunters chicken , no lasagne ,anything else so son had to get chicken burger ? No tartar sauce as shows in picture Sadly disappointed

Went for lunch on Sunday but due to the overpowering smell of bleach in the pub, we had to leave before even ordering. Surely a better cleaning product could be used other than bleach.

Called in for our lunch food was lovely great atmosphere and staff are very friendly would highly recommend popping in we'll definitely go back the food was so good recommend the hunters chicken it was done to perfection well cooked and hubby had the fish n chips which he thoroughly enjoyed

Called in for a couple of drinks with my husband and my husband had the fish and chips and mushy peas and I had the hunters chicken with chips and onion rings it was absolutely beautiful the chicken breast was cooked right through and the bacon on the top was nice and crispy just the way I like it I always order that from different pubs I go to and either the bacon isn't cooked properly or the chicken has been sometimes a bit watery inside but this was the best hunters chicken I've ever had first class and my husband thoroughly enjoyed his fish and chips hats of to the chef kieran we will definitely go back for food 😋

Hi ,called into the black bull with friends for lunch today , haven't been for quite a while was really disappointed with the meal we all had Hunters chicken ,the chicken was very dry and looked like a kids portion and the cheese on top was like rubber it pulled off in one piece , 2 onion rings and salad which was just lettuce (,where was the tomato and cucumber) and a handful of chips. We use Green King pubs alot , can say we've always had a good meal elsewhere.worst meal we've had in a green king pub ,don't think we'll be going back as there's plenty of other green king pubs around the area . Natalie served a perfect pint as per usual 😊 Burgers, chips, onion rings, the whole lot was lush and quickly demolished 😊 Plus the fact it's buy one get one free makes it fantastic value for money 😊

Attended here for a drink and food with some friends. The service is very strange as the guy kept trying to clear our plates when we weren't finished. He also brought my drink without a glass which I found strange. The music was incredibly loud and you weren't able to hear the people you were sitting with. The food came out completely different from what was mentioned on the menu. We had nachos which came with freezing cold pork on top and barely any cheese (it was £10!) The chips were meant to be rosemary and were plain. The chicken was meant to have blue cheese on and had nothing. Very disappointing for the cost !

Went for lunch with my son wanted a steak no onion rings a week running got chicken tacos it was cold took it back was warmed up in microwave tacos soft and salad too disgusting

Steve is always really welcoming when we come in, explained the different drinks available to my friend who hadn’t been here before, always super helpful and the bar is a great place for students to get lunch as it’s just up the road from the university. Food is lovely and atmosphere is great whether on a quiet Monday afternoon or a busy match day.

I only went into the car park, to collect my drunken wife. It was dark but it was easy to find a space. The surface is remarkably good and the smell of food coming from the premises was really nice. I don't drink alcohol but if I did I would have a drink here.

Went in for a nice meal with the family, staff were very attentive and helpful and the food was great. Great atmosphere too. Will definitely visit again.

Visited with a group of friends and a dog intending to just have a few drinks knowing how busy pubs get so close to Christmas, the bar was a little busy but waited no more than a few minutes to get a full round and treats and a bowl of water were swiftly provided by eagle eyed manager Steve. After a few and seeing the food others around had ordered we decided to order a selection of the small plates and some sides, we were advised there may be a short wait due to the level of customers in but again we were pleasantly surprised when these were delivered piping hot to the table about 15 minutes later. Not a single complaint from any of us, it was lovely food and worked out very good value for money. The bar staff were all very friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back again soon.

Went here for our Christmas meal, 7.99 for three courses. Absolute bargain very tasty and they also had a singer and raffle. We are going to book for next year as well. Great goor great service and cracking staff.

Lovely local pub, a place we can basically call our 2nd home (spend a lot of time here) as we’re welcomed on each and every visit by staff, friends and locals in the pub we now call friends. Food is spot on, burgers and chips for our son and Katsu curry is heaven. Feel so comfortable here, never any bad atmosphere or experiences, happy pub to go to and will continue to visit. It was my 80th birthday get together with 9 of my friends on Monday. Natalie was really wonderful. Every time I visit the Black Bull everything is spot on, and the pensioners menu is really good value for money. 👍

Undoubtedly the best pub in the area. Food is cooked quickly and precisely what you want with such a great range of fresh draught beer. The staff make this pub stand out head and shoulders above the competition. Seldom have I been made to feel as welcome by a barman like Joe or Beth and I so hope when they reopen there will be space.Very accommodating, plenty of sports on the telly and a warm community atmosphere.

Variedad en la carta. Ubicado en un pueblo a las afueras de Newcastle a 5km. No comimos, porque era muy pronto y acababan de abrir, pero el menú, tenía muy buena pinta. Trato excelente y tomamos un aperitivo

My meal was flavourless, no seasoning, jist chickpeas in a bun and partners meat was so undercooked he was ill when we got home.

I have just started working in the area, and wanted to find a pub that was showing the football, and this pub has lots of TV screens dotted around the pub so easy to see the action wherever you're sitting. They do Abbot Ale, and I also decided to eat there as well, curry was good and Abbots is always a good pint.I just found the bar staff - Barry and Bethany - particularly welcoming and friendly, and when my food was brought to the table and I asked for another pint and Barry said he'd bring it over to me (I had started a tab) I decided to post this review. So here it is.

We haven't lived here long, but this pub has already become a firm favourite. Special mention must go to the 'team' of Barry and Beth(any) whose service with a smile, even in the busiest times is never less than courteous and polite. It is clear from their work ethic that not only do they take this job very seriously but customer service is always paramount: a fact which may be taken for granted by some customers but it has not been lost on my friends and colleagues who have observed this professional behaviour on each of our many subsequent visits. This pairing is an asset to any staff. Hang on to it. Our thanks.

Habíamos ganado algunos vales de comida y bebida en una de las populares noches semanales de concursos del jueves. Decidió usarlos como un precursor para otra noche de concursos. Ambas parejas seleccionadas de los '2 pub clásicos por 10. Menú de 49 '. Mi experiencia previa no había sido la mejor, pero, en esta ocasión, las ofertas igualaban sus altos estándares anteriores. Nuestros pedidos fueron entregados puntualmente, y todas las 4 comidas fueron excelentes. Incluso ganamos otra comida y bebidas en el concurso. El formato es muy popular ya que hace que sea más fácil para los concursantes menores ganar. También hubo un juego de bingo de música por separado y, para terminar, una ronda de jackpot. Bien dirigido y bien merece una visita. Premios en efectivo y comida / bebida en oferta. Todos los jueves a partir de las 9. 00, con un concurso temático especial el último jueves del mes.

Popped in Saturday after seeing posters for a party night on the last Saturday. Wasn’t sure what to expect when I seen a couple of young lads set up. However I must say they catered to everyone and I found myself up dancing!!

My wife and I have recently moved into the area. We went out for a recce today and called in for a couple of swift halfs. We gladly stayed for a lot longer than expected. The bar staff was run off its feet, what with Christmas dos, etc but still had time to pass the time of day, pleasantly. We wouldn't like to single-out one person, from an evidently hard-working staff, but the lady who served us, not only found the time to serve meals, (we didn't eat on this occasion, but intend to, in future) clear glasses and serve drinks but she was also happy to fill us in with a lot of local knowledge. This is a better welcome to the region, than we could have hoped for. I had to ask her name; it was Bernie. Thank you Bernadette, we'll be back.

Have previously had a good meal here so booked for my wife's birthday. Very disappointed. When we arrived they initially couldn't find the booking. However, eventually resolved and seated. 30 minutes after order was placed still no sign of food. Another 10 minutes and the three meals arrived. Cod and chips far from hot. Steak pie was piping hot, but all the veg was bordering on cold. Chips were luke warm and gravy also cold. Chicken tikka and Poppadoms cold so sent back, along with gravy. Another 30 minutes later and two of us had finished our meals, but my wife was still waiting for hers. It did arrive but one of the Poppadoms was hot and crispy, the other was cold and soft. Just gave up at this point. In the meantime a table next to us was sending back two of their three meals. The waiter tried to be helpful but largely not his fault. Very unlikely to ever have a meal here again.
