Highly recommend food was fabulous and our waitress Neve was lovely nothing was too much trouble she’s a credit to bar and block

We came here for a quick snack and luckily they weren't busy, although it still took a while. However my husband really enjoyed the Asian beef and I had scallops and a portion of fries. The scallops were tasty and nicely cooked but it would be useful if the menu put in brackets to only expect 3. My wine and his beer were also very good. It's good when restaurants offer small plates for those either in a hurry or with a small appetite.

Lovely food and pleasant staff , would reccomend this restaurant as the buffet selection caters for all.Unlimited return if you are really hungry at no extra cost.

Went with friends. Staff were great and friendly. Nothing was a trouble for them. We enjoyed our night. Food was amazing couldn’t fault it at all. Really tasty will be returning in the next month and already recommended to others.

We had an absolutely fantastic experience, and a huge part of that was thanks to James. From the moment we arrived, he made sure we were well looked after, ensuring our table was perfect and that we had everything we needed throughout the night. His attention to detail, friendly attitude, and professionalism really stood out. He went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable, our drinks were always topped up, and that we had an all-around great time. It’s rare to find such exceptional service, and James truly made the evening special for us. We will definitely be back, and a big part of that is because of how well we were looked after. Took an age to get served they could see you standing at the bar then went off and did something else or served someone they started chatting to, another few chaps I was stood with at the bar were getting rather frustrated too

Stayed in the premier inn for work and received the all inclusive meal and breakfast package. This place is lovely inside it really is. It reminds me of an American saloon/steakhouse in some ways with lots of timber. It really does have you peering around at the decor and design of the building. The staff are friendly and are quick to serve you and explain the menu (what you can and can’t have) There is a lot you can have and not a lot you can’t have. The beef flavoured complimentary popcorn I received as I sat down was a really nice touch! I had a bottle of alcohol free peroni from their large selection of beers and mac and cheese bites for starters followed by a steak skewer with garlic bread for my main (name of dish I’ve forgotten) One thing I do know is that meal was in my top 3 meals of all time! The steak better than miller and carters and roasting hot! Also the breakfast was the usual premier inn breakfast - eat until you’re stuffed but the food was a lot better than some of the other premier inns I’ve eaten at. Highly recommend eating here, you definetly get your monies worth even if your staying in the premier inn and have the food package.

Appeared understaffed but the waitress was lovely (Saturday 8th February 5pm). Had a very big table and was very friendly and helpful. Pricey, but which steak isn’t. Took a while to be noticed waiting service. A little flat in terms of atmosphere but was quieter at the time.

Went for an early lunch a week ago we got the rump and frites they were really good and the service was impeccable by Ellie. The 241 cocktails where delicious also, we will be returning.

Went for a meal and a few drinks last week ordered the chicken tacos and a steak sampler.. both were amazing had some 2 for 1 cocktails my partner and I both shared the peach and raspberry mojito. We where served by Ellie she was great and attentive will be back soon

The location of the Bar+Block is the reason we decided to visit, it is just along from the Gate which was why we were in the area. As a group we have our preferred steak restaurants in Newcastle but agreed to try somewhere new. In regards to the location of this steakhouse there is plenty parking and public transport links surrounding the Restaurant which is very handy. Upon arrival we waited for a few minutes as members of staff walked past not acknowledging us, eventually we were seated. We were sat for quite sometime waiting to place our drink order, others were seated after us however had there drinks order taken before us. Not a great experience up to now. We eventually get our drinks order taken and drinks arriving in decent time. Thankfully the service started to improve from this point. We ordered our food, we decided on 2 courses. For starters we ordered Crispy beef and Beef burnt ends. The burnt ends were not your traditional burnt ends so was disappointing however the flavour of the starters made up for it, very flavoursome. For mains we all had different type's of steaks, 2 had to be returned as they were not cooked as requested. The cuts of meat were ok, not to much fat however all were an the smaller side compared to other restaurants. Again the flavours of the meat and sides were very flavoursome so we were content. The price we paid in comparison to the service and food received it was not a worth while visit and a gamble of trying somewhere new that has not paid off.

My recent visit to Bar + Block was an absolute delight! From the moment I walked in, the welcoming ambiance set the tone for a fantastic dining experience. What truly made the visit stand out was the exceptional service provided by one of their employees, Grace. She was warm, attentive, and made sure every detail of our dining experience was perfect. From recommending dishes to ensuring we were comfortable throughout. Make sure to ask for Grace—you won’t be disappointed!

Service was ok and restaurant looks good. The food was disappointing dry and not cooked how we asked for, no check from serving staff to rectify. Overpriced for what you get and from the experience.

While the staff were an absolute delight, the food was unfortunately subpar to say the least. The sirloin we ordered was well over done. We asked for a rare-medium-rare, it was served medium-well. The beer battered onion rings and the chips were undercooked on the inside. The house special sauce was advertised as sweet and savoury on the menu but was straight up sour. We were quite disappointed with our dinner, unfortunately. The saving grace of the night, however, was the burnt ends. They were genuinely delicious.

Went here for breakfast and was well with it , didn't realise it was buffet when we.booked it but plenty choice and was well cooked .

Attended with some ex colleagues for our xnas lunch. Booked for 12 o'clock on a Saturday end of November and it was very quiet. That's why I marked the atmosphere down. Food and service were great though but I guess they weren't rushed off of their feet.

I had a blast there with my colleagues today. So let's talk about how it went Food, I ate a Short Rib Brisket burger, the meat is a bit hot (spicy), which I like But not a big fan of it being burnt. My onion rings were burnt too, way too dry. The chips are brilliant though. Service, I went there at 7pm and left around 9pm, respectfully the staff are tired, but there was one waitress they looked exhausted. I wish to let you know that, I really appreciate you and your job. Your job is so hard and I hope you are enjoying it and it pays off your expenses. God bless you, hope you get some good rest and enjoy another work day. Atmosphere, for a steak joint, it's not exactly very steak feel I didn't get the steak place atmosphere from it, but overall it was good. I like how it has bright lights, allowing me to see my friends clearly. Overall I give it 4/5 I don't like it when my food is burnt, but I really appreciate the staff and how hard they work. Keep it up!

To make things even more convenient, we stayed at the Premier Inn right next door. The room was comfortable, and after an amazing night, we headed down for breakfast in the morning. The breakfast was just what we needed—plenty of variety, all freshly prepared, and served by the most polite and accommodating staff. Bar + Block Steakhouse and the Premier Inn made for a winning combination. Whether you’re in Newcastle for a night out or a short stay, I can’t recommend this duo highly enough. We’ll definitely be back!

We came across here by accident before seeing a show. Amazing and tasty food. Staff were fab and very helpful. Thoughtful for the staff to give my mum a birthday gift and card for her birthday. So thoughtful and such a sweet thing to do. Fish and Chips were brilliant so fresh yet so quick. We will be back in the future Thank you all once again

Had a lovely meal at this restaurant, we both chose off the festive menu and the food was excellent. £32 each for a 3 course meal, not going to say no to that 😁. The premium steak sampler was amazing and the short rib was to die for, both starters and desserts were just as good. Staff were friendly, polite and had great knowledge about the menu. Aidan suggested the steak sampler, so thankyou as it was amazing 👍

It would be a mis-steak to not try the best steakhouse in Newcastle. Service, perfect and 2 for 1 cocktails goes down a treat.

VISITED: 4/11/24 Can't fault the service as we were looked after really well but the food was rubbish and no value for money. We eat steak pretty much everyday. Everything from nice cuts down to £5.69 16oz aldi rump at home and we were honestly left with the feeling we could have done better at home. We received a 30% mains promo and the venue looks nice so thought we'd give it a go. I asked for medium rare 12oz rump and it came medium / well and the size seemed questionable. It was cold and charred leaving and unpleasant taste. It was also tough as a boot. Not what I would expect from a steakhouse. Next the optional add ons. We asked to have the steak to come with salad which was a pretty small bowl and we opted for £10 king prawn and scallop combo. We got 2 scallops and 2 prawns so that was a rip off. We opted to share some chips and paid £4.50 for a not even a bowl. It was a really small container for the price. The kids menu was decent value for money. However overall we left feeling like we'd overpaid even with 30% off. I would have happily paid more to go elsewhere. We have another 30% off voucher but will not be using it. Anyone visiting the city I'd recommend one of the Rio restaurant instead. Without discount the plate pictured would have cost around £35.

This is a bar, restaurant and hotel in one. This is a lively place with live music with a wide range of tastes. The staff were very busy and very nice, engaging and looked after us well. The stakes are amazing and very well cooked to taste and were amazing. They accommodate for families of all sizes as well as other types of groups. My children (12 to 18) had a great time. The menu is online a caters for younger children as well. There I a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks e.g. soft drinks and 0% alcohol drinks like Guiness. Very much worth a visit. Although we didn't stay the night, this is a great location for a night out, watching the football as its very close to St James park or even if yiubare visiting a show or shopping.

We didn't realise when booking that this was part of the Premier Inn (so effectively like a Beefeater). We waited 45 minutes to receive our drinks which came at the same time as our meal. Everything was so over priced and underwhelming. The chicken souvlaki was dry and tough and at a cost of £20.50 is embarrassing. Our bill for four people cost £140 (one round of drinks and a main meal only) which was outrageous, the service was terrible, no one acknowledged us and the food was sub standard at best. We didn't dare order another drink as we'd have had to stay for another 45 minutes! The website and menu price gives the impression that this is a top quality steak restaurant, which I can wholeheartedly tell you it is not!

This restaurant made a special order for my sister who has terminal cancer, beautifully cooked and brought tears to many eyes. She can barely eat so this was a special moment, one of her favorite tastes. Good onya!

Visited with friends for an afternoon catch up. All staff for welcoming, engaging and helpful. The manager was present on the floor, service was very pleasant. Cocktails and food faultless Definitely will visit again.

Came here for a birthday meal for my son. The place was completely empty on a Sunday afternoon, which should have been our first warning. Service was great, James the waiter was spot on, however the food was very poor. Wife ordered the three steak tasting dish, cooked medium. All 3 steaks came well done. Burnt bits burger was disappointing, dry with some chips on the side. The boy's steak with prawns was also overdone, however £6 for two prawns wasn't the best value. Considering the chef's had no one else to cook for, this should have been perfect, it wasn't. I'll stick to Miller & Carter in future.

One of the better English meals we've had in the past two weeks we've been in UK. Interesting range of food too. And service was friendly and prompt, with an eye on keeping us comfortable and informed. Best experience among restaurants.

Ate here as part of Premier Inn stay. Dinner was fairly standard fare. Breakfast was the usual hot buffet. It was OK.

A good deal on cocktails resulted in here two nights. Good quality food. Highly recommend the steak sampler. Gluten free options available. Staff friendly and attentive.

I came without really knowing where to go, in the end I ate well! This restaurant will surprise you, the dishes are of quality and the price is not excessive There is room, you can come with friends or family The central location makes getting there quite easy Don’t hesitate to try one of their many beers!

We thought we would give this place a go after reading several very good reviews and we weren't disappointed. There was a 2 for 1 cocktail offer on so I had two delicious 'Old Fashioned's, with Glenfiddich and an orange twist, whilst my wife ordered two Martinis. Both drinks were lovely. We ordered a three plate starter - Bar + Block do a selection of small plates as starters and we selected garlic prawns, 'burnt ends' and a crispy Chinese dish. I didn't like the sound of the 'Burnt Ends' but this turned out to be my favourite dish. It's just the offcuts from the steaks but the meat has been marinated in a wonderful sauce. My wife enjoyed the Chinese dish the best despite it being a little spicy and she not having much tolerance for spicy food. We both ordered the sirloin steaks, mine with chunky chips and my wife's with a baked potato. The side sauces were a little disappointing - the Bar + Block signature sauce was vinegary and reminded us both of HP sauce. I didn't think it went well with the steak but was an ok accompaniment to the chips. The Mexican sauce was more of a finely chopped salad. Perhaps it was just not what I was expecting. Both our steaks were delicious though. Perfectly cooked and seared closed. Very juicy and full of taste. Our side order of onion rings was just that but nicely cooked too. The service was great - Ben being very attentive and friendly - as were all of the staff. Prices are good for Newcastle and the quality of the food. The offer on the cocktails helped too.I would recommend this place and we would consider going back if we are in the area.

This is spot is great for steaks and cocktails the raspberry margaritas was my favourite. I was greeted at the door by manager James who sat me to my table and introduced me to my server Lana who was more than helpful during the visit. Overall this restaurant is great for its location and the small plate deals they do! Great value at great price.

When trying to ask the staff for another one we were met with a man rolling his eyes and saying it was because we were a big group - we were a group of 9, if there was an issue with this why did they take the booking? Next was by a rude woman who didn’t even look at us before shouting ‘1 minute’ and was never to been seen again. Eventually they bring out our next drinks without the shots and then told us this is because they need to shot glasses from our table. Why was our table not cleared prior to this and why did we even need to ask for the shots to begin with. So from here we wait another 15 mins for the shots to come out and by this time our ‘bottomless’ brunch is over. Honestly shocking service, wouldn’t recommend to anyone!

James was amazing ! We had bottomless brunch and even thought it was sooo busy he always had a smile on his face and was happy to serve us, when ordering food my friend was a bit drunk and constantly changing what meal he wanted to order and instead of getting annoyed James laughed and joked with us, we even asked him if he was going out afterwards because he was so great!😂 It’s Ladies day so it was very busy and the service was slower than usual but still everyone was lovely and had a smile on their face and James especially made our night he is an asset to the team

First time visit, scanned the menu and went for the steak taster block. Was a fantastic choice. Steak cooked perfectly, all cuts were tasty and no waste. Left the table full and looking forward to a return visit.

Absolutely the best steak I have had in a long time, service was great it wasn’t busy while there but super fast service food was with us in 15 minutes cooked the way I like it and the little beefy popcorn snack was crazy.

Sea bass ok but the house salad disappointing.........avocado conspicuous by its absence and way too much red onion. Service good and staff friendly so not all bad.

What can I say. The food was amazing. It was technically sausages and chips, but it was so much more... wholly recommend the Butchers Bangers Block with a side of Salt + Pepper squid followed by the Belgian chocolate cookie dough. Fan flipping tastic!!

Save your money. Really not good. Burger was sooo dry, chips and onion rings were overcooked and the steak?? £40 for a fillet that tasted of absolutely nothing. Seasoned with literally air. It was really quiet for a Saturday evening and I’m not surprised after tasting the food. Service was okay apart from the guy asking if we want to tip which is weird to ask.

Booked for bottomless lunch for 3 with cocktails. The manager greeted and sat us then introduced us to Lana our waitress. From there we had great food, the best service and everything was delicious both main course and deserts. Will definitely recommend to friends and will certainly be returning.

What a place!! Went for bottomless brunch with 14 work colleagues. The food service was incredible but the drink service was a 10/10. We all had a starter the Mac + cheese bites were on point as the for the main which most of us had a steak sandwich which was cooked to perfection. Food came out all together considering we was a large group. The drinks service was fast and was definitely bottomless my glass was never empty. The servers were friendly and always made sure we had drinks. The manager (Laura) was so lovely and welcoming. Definitely recommend to anyone who wants great food, lovely atmosphere and amazing drinks at a fantastic price ☺️

I recently dined at Bar + Block Steakhouse in Newcastle, and unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. One of the main issues was with the portion size of the steak. Despite being advertised as a 14-ounce serving, the reality fell far short of expectations. The steak I received was significantly smaller, leaving me feeling unsatisfied and shortchanged.Moreover, the pricing of the food was exorbitant for the quality and quantity offered. While I understand that steakhouse dining can be on the pricier side, the value simply wasn't there. The lacklustre portion sizes coupled with the high prices made for a disappointing dining experience overall.Additionally, the ambience of the restaurant was underwhelming, lacking the upscale atmosphere one would expect from a steakhouse. The service was also lackadaisical, with slow and inattentive waitstaff.Overall, I cannot recommend Bar + Block Steakhouse Newcastle based on my experience. The subpar portion sizes and overpriced menu items make it difficult to justify returning or recommending it to others.

I went for the salmon and my other half went for the short rib, which were both fantastic. Our server recommended the trio of desserts which finished off the meal nicely. Great wine and cocktail selection, will be back.

Amazing welcome from Jordan, seated at a lovely table. We both had the lunch offer menu for appetising. Very filling. Courtesy checked for everycourse. Offered puddings coffees etc. Bill paid cash tip also. Very enjoyable experience.
