The best restaurants serving British food in Darlington North East

Just had to write one final review of this excellent restaurant which is now sadly closed. We were lucky enough to have our second (and now, final) chance to try their tasting menu, and every dish was a delight. Looking forward to seeing whether there will be a new place with Michelin stars to try soon!

Lovely family run business. Food was made on the premises and was great. The sausage rolls and cakes are amazing, we will definatly be going again. Friendly efficient staff and beautiful little tea room.

Our office ordered from Peartree Hill Cafe the other week, there was about 10 of us ordering food. I messaged the cafe on Facebook and they were very helpful, getting back to me the same day with pictures of the menu and relevant information. We preordered the day before via Facebook messenger and my colleague rang up to confirm they received it etc. Food was ready on collection time, very easy process and the food was amazing! All homemade meals, including the chips. Great quality and would 100% recommend!

The first bedroom when you go through the door is the best with some gorgeous artwork on the walls and some cool patterns on the back of the door. Always have a great time whenever I go and i always get served with such good quality fancy coffee. Nothing better.

Éramos una familia de cuatro y visitamos para el almuerzo de Navidad. Nos sorprendió lo rápido que fue el servicio. Nos dejaron disfrutar de nuestra comida sin apurarnos, y la comida era maravillosa, caliente, y muy bien plato, visualmente atractivo para los huéspedes. El personal era muy eficiente, atento y educado. Tengo la intención de volver de nuevo para comidas más deliciosas y recomendaría este restaurante a cualquiera que busque buena comida y servicio.

From the heart this place offers excellent support for the over 50's in regards to the likes of help and support for benefits etc. However, the cafeteria is not good at all and the beverages are below average. Over priced and worse than school dinner meals.

Es la segunda vez que visito este restaurante. ¡Fácilmente las mejores hamburguesas en Darlington! No es un menú enorme, pero eso es bueno, ya que a veces puede ser abrumador cuando el menú es enorme. Sin duda volveremos para una tercera visita!

Not sure what happened used to be a very busy place a couple of years ago. A Sat night 7:30 only 5 people in only 2 sets dining. Zero atmosphere. Menu was uninspiring and food was average. Such a shame.

OH MY WORD. . . . ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. . Llamé hace unas semanas para el almuerzo del domingo y estaba muy impresionado. La bienvenida, el servicio y la comida era absolutamente increíble. Decide pedir un almuerzo para llevar ayer. Una cena de carne y una cena de pollo. Mucho más que un tamaño amplio, caliente, increíblemente sabroso y la carne simplemente se derritió en su boca. Enormes cumplidos al equipo de cocina.

booked in a few weeks ago for a table of 14 pre ordered our food and arrived half an hour before our booking to have drinks we were asked to have a set at our table we ordered drinks and they promptly arrived once all our party arrived we went to make the staff aware which they were very polite and shortly after our meals started to arrive everything was piping hot and tasted delicious what a great evening lovely staff and great company thank you

Had a great stay in the premier inn, beefeater every morning and night for lunch, very friendly welcoming staff with great service, especially Lisa the manager going above and beyond everytime for our team, thank you so much.

Tuvimos una reserva de la tarde en Nochevieja y toda la experiencia fue excelente. El lugar nos dijo por adelantado que necesitábamos tener nuestro pedido de comida en 14 . 30 porque tenían mucho que hacer para su banquete completo. Teníamos pre-reservado nuestro perro, así que estábamos en la sección de bares, pero esto estaba absolutamente bien y tan bueno como su restaurante principal (supongo). Nuestra mesa nos estaba esperando cuando llegamos tarde (problemas de taxi! ) pero estaban felices de tomar nuestros pedidos de comida por teléfono, así que todo estaba bien para los 14. 30 deadline. El menú no era extenso pero nuestra fiesta no tuvo problemas en seleccionar los champiñones salteados, haggis (brillante) , sopa y cóctel de gambas y salmón (increíble) . La mayoría de nuestro partido tenía hamburguesas para principal, pero también teníamos una salchicha y puré, así como lubina. Vino y Prosecco eran geniales, así como un Martini expreso. Gran, atento, servicio personal. Bien hecho.

I went for Christmas afternoon tea in The Orangery at almost £60pp with my parents for a bougie little treat before Christmas. The setting was beautiful, the staff were lovely and the drinks were delicious. But the food? Well...the sandwiches were nice and they were adjusted to cover allergies we have. The cakes were yummy but I've had crackerbread with more moisture than those scones. They were overmixed, stale and no amount of double cream (no clotted cream here I'm afraid) could fix that dryness. The booking cost extra due to the choir who was to be signing carols while we ate, but that lasted maybe 5 minutes and while they were good they certainly weren't worth the £8 up charge to hear. If you don't care about what you're eating and simply going because you want to go for Afternoon Tea in a 5 star establishment then this is perfect for you. But if you'd rather spend your hard earned money on something that doesn't taste like it's been sat for three days before being served then I'd avoid here and find an alternative. Very disappointed.
