SALT - Street Food Kitchen & Bar in Darlington

What can I say? This place is a little gem in Darlington. The restaurant is super cosy and chilled. I ordered "My Dad is Bald." I am not a fan of bbq sauce, so I asked if I could have mayo instead. This was not a problem. I can honestly say this has to be the best burger I have had in a long time. I shared some burger fries, which were also delicious. Definitely share a side as it's super filling. I will definitely be back!

We managed to get a table on a Saturday night and were treated to a warm welcome from very friendly staff. It was quite busy but not too cramped or noisy like other places and the background music was nicely playing in the background and not drowning out our conversation. I rarely eat burgers but the “my Dad is Bald” took my fancy and it was delicious, I needed up eating the last few bites really slowly because I did not want it to end 😂 my other half had tacos and rated them as very tasty. The fries were really good too. We will definitely be back here again soon to sample more of the menu.

Amazing every time! The food is full of amazing flavours and such good portion sizes. I’m always left so happy and can’t wait to go back again! Salt will always be the number one place I recommend to anyone asking for suggestions on where to go to eat. The cocktails are also brilliant 🤩

Richmond Salt- Absolutely phenomenal ! Lovely to have amazing food delivered to Scorton from the Richmond salt! Delivery was on time! And the food was 5 star. The Staff burger was unreal, never had a burger like it, so delicious. The salt / pepper fries, parmesan and pesto fries very tasty.

I ordered takeaway. I arrived on time and I was told my order wasn’t ready, which was completely fine. The lady that wash checking on my order then turned the card machine on and someone from the back came out and said I need to go to the cash machine as it is cash only on takeaway orders. This wasn’t stated anywhere on my confirmation email or website when ordering. Upon returning from the cash machine around the corner, I was told to sit on a small stool under the stairs. The way I was spoken to made me feel slightly uncomfortable, however, I was trying to give the benefit of the doubt. The food was amazing and cannot be faulted. I just hope I had one bad experience but I’m willing to try again soon!

Again food and service was excellent. We have been here so many times now and had takeaway and every time the food is so amazing. Had the my Dad is bald burger and burger fries amazing. What a lovely atmosphere in the restaurant. All staff were so lovely and helpful and the food was above and beyond outstanding. Staff were always coming and checking up on us making sure everything was okay which we massively appreciated. Can’t recommend this place enough!!

Booked a table online for 8pm, seated straight away and promptly ordered our drinks. Cocktails were great — the Pink Matter was a group favourite! Food was served quickly — I opted for the Birria tacos and Korean fries and it did not disappoint. Fries were definitely enough to share between 2 of us. Staff were lovely, and our waitress made sure we were topped up on drinks all evening — definitely returning!

Often visit salt with my boyfriend/friends- never disappointed. Service from the girls is always stunning and the food gorgeous. Perf place for date night or girls night. Interior is stunning and a nice change from the norm in darlington.

Visited Salt on Saturday evening and I can genuinely say one of the best dining experiences I’ve had! Staff were very friendly and regularly checked up on us, our glasses were never empty! And the food - 10/10! I had the Mike Bage burger, such a perfect combo of flavours and perfectly done too. The atmosphere was amazing, so relaxed. I will definitely be visiting again!

This is a review of the Richmond Salt. After eagerly awaiting the arrival of Salt to Richmond. We visited of the Weekend with a group of friends. The quality of the food was great. A few things in my experience of dining out & food hygiene would benefit all. The restaurant is cold. We sat with our coats on. No disabled toilet facilities. The staff when handing water glasses to customers had their fingers inside the glasses. The wine glasses 2 out of 4 were dirty. Staff didn't know what a wine cooler was, when paying £22 for a bottle of wine it would be nice to keep Chilled. Most waitresses had long hair, none of which was tied up. As much as the food was good. I think paying nearly £13 for just a burger, is a lot. Most other main meals (elsewhere) at that price come with something to accompany it... maybe some chips / salad would be nice. There was a few items not available which isn't great on a weekend as the busiet time in a restaurant. The trays swivel on the table making it hard to keep still when you're eating. Take away. The food was tasty however the portion for the loaded fries was shocking. £6.50 for a small box of loaded fries. Disappointed and feel slightly ripped off.

Takeaway ordering is complete chaos. Hoping for a relaxing Friday night takeaway but despite booking a delivery slot at 8:30pm we were called at 8:30 to say that our order had been missed and it would be another hour. This is one of a many disasters we have had with SALT and reminded me why we stopped going. Great food but staff show a complete disregard for their customers.

The best Burgers I have ever had. My current favourite is the Korean Bbq burger.

We were a group of 10 at an outdoor sports event. As a treat we had decided to pre order a variety of items - burgers, quesadillas, wings, fries … for half time. The ordering experience through to the timely delivery and the eating was so fabulous. Everyone was very impressed with the food - the flavours and quality were amazing. Thank you Salt!

Really tasty food and friendly staff but quite expensive for what you get. Four burgers, two portions of fries, three soft drinks and a beer came to over £80 including tip.

I come to salt quite often, but every time it just seems to get better. I had the Korean bao bun and Mac and cheese, both are unreal and taste amazing especially considering I’m quite picky. But for some reason everything on the salt menu appeals to me, everything I’ve tried tastes delicious and I’ve heard the same from everyone I’ve spoke to. Staff are so friendly and attentive, cocktails are unreal, and the overall atmosphere gives you a chilled vibe when eating rather than being rushed in and out. Will definitely be back!

Absolutely awful service. Nowhere near the amount of staff needed and the staff that were working seemed to not care about anything at all. Expected to share five sets of cutlery between a large group due to “a cutlery shortage”. Complained to staff and to the manager and got nothing but a blank look and then overcharged by £20. Food was served cold and lacking any flavour, would have had a better food and experience going to McDonalds! Will certainly never return and would avoid anyone that’s never been to go elsewhere.

I can never fault salt I really can’t. We normally get a takeaway which is always 10/10, but last night we went the restaurant for a meal and I don’t know how but dining in is even better! I tried the new beef Barbacoa tacos and omg not to be dramatic but it was honestly the best thing I’ve ever eaten. Went in with my partner for a 8PM Booking, sat before reading the hilarious responses to the tasteless reviews left by folk who've never been in a busy restaurant before which made us feel more confident it was going to be a great place to eat and we weren't disappointed! Superb food and really accomodating staff. I mentioned I had a dairy allergy and asked if I could change the brioche bun and remove the cheese on the burgers. The staff were so friendly and went above and beyond to meet my dietary requirements, checking with me at all times that I could have the ingredients in it, so that I could have a burger.
