First visit for me on Saturday and I’ve gotta say I wasn’t disappointed,the service and the food was faultless,I’d heard plenty of great reviews about this place and they weren’t wrong

We came here, slightly hungover for brunch! we were glad we'd booked for a late Saturday morning, as it was so busy we did have to wait a while but quality of food was excellent and there were so many things I could have chosen off the menu, definitely need to come back! highly recommend.

Wow...just wow. Birthday breakfast of campfire beans for me and peppered mushrooms with spinach and parmesan for my gorgeous other half. Stunning food.

Incredible cafe on Duke Street. Brunch is so amazing and popular at Maggies you need to reserve a table but they always try to squeeze me and my family in for a quick coffee and cake, which is really appreciated. Coffees here are amazing and it’s a wonderful relaxed placed for children- baby cinos always go down well at Maggies!

Amazing brunch here today, the sweet potatoe hash my daughter had was fab, I will try that next time, my breakfast and husbands was just so delicious, asked for bacon well done and was perfect, poached eggs perfect, the coffee was perfect, Guinness cake out of this world, even the little butters you get with toast are superb, staff friendly and cafe decor lovely, spotless clean it’s just a lovely place all round,

I love this family run business, my go to when my daughters visiting from Uni, I had the Shakshouka this time, soo tasty. Restaurant quality food in a relaxed setting. Lovely people, lovely food, all those regulars can’t be wrong!

We chose the wrong table… near the door. A couple of 2 seater tables became available and I asked to move. When the Manager who looked stressed said if we moved, would have to vacate new table at 11.15 am. I said that was ok but challenged her over a previous request. She continued to be rude and unhelpful. eg“it’s my place and I can do as I want” Once we moved, she then came over and swopped the signs on our new table. Original sign said 12 noon to 11.15am!! She then told us “she was good at managing tables.” I would refute this. At 11.25 she came over removed sign said we could stay, and then remonstrated with my friend further. Unbelievable as we were still eating. What should have been a relaxing lunch turned into an uncomfortable experience. After paying the bill I attempted to give her both positive and negative feedback to which she responded “only 2 disappointed customers.” I think the last comment by her sums it up. Definitely no customer empathy/awareness. Every customer should be important. I would not recommend this venue.

Went to Maggies for lunch with my friend yesterday and I was not disappointed. I had a delicious chai tea latte made with Oat Milk and a lovely Avocado and poached egg on toast. Staff was super friendly. It’s a really cosy atmosphere and the food was *chefs kiss! Yummy! Highly recommend! Also, this is a dog friendly venue which is always great for us pet parents out there.

The best brunch with amazing service. Very busy when we called in without booking. Were advised to come back in an hours time, which worked perfectly. The food and service was such a treat! Lovely atmosphere. The sort of place which makes you realise how poor other places are. You can tell a lot of hard work goes into Maggies and it certainly pays off. Thank you!

Fabulous breakfast, very clean, we had the mushroom spinach and poached eggs on sourdough,lots of choice on the menu, great service, our first visit but we will become regulars!

Been meaning to visit on a recommendation, wow it didn't disappoint. I don't say this lightly but probably the best full English I've had, presented so well with great produce, £12 was cheap for something prepared so well. Although we didn't have mutley with us it's dog friendly. Just go!

Breakfast for 4. 2 full breakfasts, sour dough toast with poached egg, bacon & black pudding, sour dough bacon roll. All the food was plentiful, well cooked and delicious. They obviously use well sourced good quality ingredients. Prices spot on. Varied menu and they offer choices for those who fancy a bit of breakfast on the spicy side. Would definitely visit again if we are in the Darlington area. Would highly recommend.

First visit and did not disappoint. Perfect late breakfast to celebrate good news ! Would definitely return and recommend.

This was our first visit to Maggie’s after spotting it on Duke Street. The atmosphere is relaxed. It’s very clean and nicely decorated. We had latte’s and cake. Highly recommended for a relax pit stop.

Came here for breakfast, I had the avocado with plum tomatoes and chill. Very well seasoned and full of flavour. The oat milk vanilla ice latte was great as well. Staff were amazing, friendly and welcoming.

Just popped in for a sandwich as I was passing, it was a freshly falafel sandwich in Sourdough Bread .. truly amazing ! Must be the best sandwich I have tasted for along time .. wish I had got 2 !! Got a coffee also .. this place has a lovely feel to it with excellent customer service will definitely be back for a proper meal here to test the rest of the menu .

We came on a recommendation for brunch. The place was a lovely little nice near Queen Elizabeth College not too far from the town centre. We had our ‘test dishes’ - for me anything with avocado and eggs (the avocado, feta and sourdough with bacon) and my wife had the eggs royale. Both came in good time and were really excellent quality. My wife commented that the hollandaise was amongst the best she has ever had. The staff were friendly and approachable, if incredibly busy. And were happy to let me come later to have a look at their kitchen as we are doing a bit of research for a community cafe elsewhere. Definitely going to be in our bank of Friday brunch destinations!

Have been refused to serve as I was alone. Apparently that's not a place for single ppl. Don't recommend.

Discovered this place by accident but will now be a regular customer! Very clean, excellent staff, food good. What more could you want?? I had scrambled eggs on toast with mushrooms (instead of the tomatoes on the menu) and was impressed by how such a simple dish could be so tasty! Can recommend the poached eggs too! The only drawback is in school term the takeaway side of the business gets a bit fraught and you have to push pass boards of students waiting for their lunches (dirty fries look popular)! Booking a table is a good idea.

Visited the cafe with family and were greeted by extremely friendly staff and welcomed into the cafe.The menu was varied and lots of choice. The cakes looked amazing so had to leave some room.Everything was freshly made and tasted great.The home made cakes lived up to expectation and so much choice.All the staff were friendly and made for a very relaxing meal. Had cousin catch up here on 25/7/19 what a change since my last visit.Wall pictures back, bunting and friendly feeling has returned. Coffee and tea really good. Three breakfasts each one different but all very very nice. One order came slightly wrong but was rectified without any fuss. Staff very pleasant. Will return.

What a fabulous place and the taste combinations are amazing. Scrambled egg, avocado and feta bagel brunch - what a delight .....plus something naughty and nice to take home for afters. Warm welcome and great service. Will definitely be back !

Whilst on holiday in nearby (ish) Barnard Castle, my wife & I + 2 dogs took a trip to Darlington.

First visit a since new ownership. Coffee tea still as good but not a fan of cake,tray bake, scones sitting uncovered this for me is a definitely a big NO NO. All wall art gone and no magazines or newspaper to read. Little disappointed.

Meet friend for breakfast both choose bacon and egg sandwich with ketchup asked how we wanted our bacon cooked very caring. It came in a fresh bun all very tasty. Coffees very nice as we stayed and had a second cup. Staff very pleasant and good service.

Decided to try this lovely local shop as had seen really positive reviews and a few friends had been visited. Menu was spot on and catered for all tastes. I had a cappuccino and chocolate cake which complimented each other well.No surprises but it was homemade and portion was generous. Service was second to none and all staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend.Lovely shop with its own identity. I will return. Thank you.

I weekly take my mother here for coffee on a Saturday, Always friendly staff, god coffee and a lovely yummy scone, and you can't complain about prices ! As i do every week i will return

I like to use independent cafes rather than the big chains. This is a lovely little cafe that serves great coffee. The service is always good and the staff friendly and cheerful. They always have magazines to read too, which I like if I'm calling in on my own. I park on this side of Darlington when I visit and often pop into Maggies. It always seems to be busy and with good reason.

Conveniently Located in the town centre, Great variety of menu options to choose from. Cakes look amazing although being a diabetic I dont get to sample them! Good service, friendly atmosphere.

Trying to park near centre of Darlington and came across this café so well worth seeking the nearby free parking as the place was delightful. Clean, tidy engaging staff and clean toilets all on one level so easy for wheelchairs and those who are infirm.

Lovely shop Christine and her staff are lovely its still as good as ever,great breakfast,good coffee and great service well done all round.

First visit after hearing this lovely cafe had been taken over. Worries put to one side as still friendly, clean and same menu. Mine and friends sandwiches where both very nice, fresh bread, lovely meat and side salad. Take home cake was very very nice. Nothing changed just the staff. We will be back.

Maggie's place has been our favourite cafe for a long time now so we were a bit worried to find that it has changed hands. However our visit this morning reassured us - the meal as delicious as always and the staff friendly and helpful.

When I need a coffee and a sandwich, I like, if I can, to find a small independent café, rather than one of the chains. Chains are often the same, whether you’re in Perth or Penzance, and there’s rarely the friendly ambience you often get in an independent.

Called in to Maggies Place for a cuppa and a light snack. Wasn't disappointed, lovely, friendly people, nice food and coffee. Lovely and clean too. Will definately be calling again if we're in Darlington.

Forget the sloppy efforts of other cafes, here is an Americano that tastes good. Add something sweet from the excellent range of fresh cakes or a decent bacon bap. Maggies is a pleasant setting and a good place to meet for a chat, although the acoustics are not great.

Our favorite place for catch up. Scrambled eggs and bacon on toast very very nice. Nicely presented, tasty and good portions. Very reasonable priced. This time I had to say no to cake but the other person had a lovely almond and cherry slice. You are made very welcome and not rushed to leave.

A lovely place for a get together with family/friends! We popped in for breakfast before our friends headed off back home to Norfolk! Service was fab, even with special requests for gluten free food too! All meals came out together (there was 6 of us) all hot! Would totally recommend!

Maggie and her staff, mostly family make you so very welcome and tall the food is out of this world. whether its a coffee with cake or a scone or lunch you will never be disappointed. The only problem with Maggies is getting a table! it is so very popular. Maggies Place is the place to be in Darlington for excellent food and value for money.

Hunger Pains Having trawled the streets and shops of Darlington for what seems a lifetime hunger pains becomes at 12-30 .We came across this quaint café on the menu board there is a nice selection of homemade cakes and light lunches on offer I chose a sandwich platter consisting of chicken and bacon served with salad and crisps followed by a pot of tea all was fresh tasty and first class the staff were polite efficient served in a very nice relaxed atmosphere.

Lovely fresh cakes and coffee which made for a good rest stop as we drove through. The atmosphere is lovely and bright (decorated cheerily for Christmas!) and the staff are friendly. Menu looks good (wish we had stayed for lunch!).

Popped in for a coffee and a bacon roll. There was plenty of good tasting bacon in the soft white roll and the coffee was so good that I had another cup!I will certainly be going back to Maggie's Place again as the cakes looked delicious.

Best coffee shop in town so far. Stylish, without ostentation. Consistently high quality in cleanliness (never had a sticky table yet), food and coffee. The cakes look mouthwatering, but I can't manage both savoury and sweet in one visit. Maybe next time.

Great for snacks and lunch. Good all round quality food and service. Not open in the evenings but great for when you are in the town during the day and want something different and better than the usual coffee shop chains, Better value too!

If you like your surroundings to be clean and pleasant place to have coffee this is the place for you. Drinks and food ordered are freshly made to order to you may have a short wait but the weight is well worth it very nice. Never been in here before although the people we were visiting have been a couple of times, we weren't disappointed what a gem of a place the decor is interesting it seems there's always something that catches your eye.Staff seemed very friendly with willingness to please, we ordered a round of breakfast baps and a selection of hot and cold drinks all arrived within no time at all piping hot just as you like it.....Well done all, if you haven't been give it a try.If we sorry when we go back North again we will definitely be paying Maggie a visit!

We've been regulars for quite some time in so far as they know our drinks and how we take them. However, a couple of weeks ago we were in there as usual a bit later than normal when we were asked 'if you're not ordering anything else..... there are people waiting.' Exceptionally bad customer service especially as we hadn't even finished our drinks. I'm normally the one who makes a comment and the other half lets it ride, so it must have annoyed him to make the comment to me that we aren't going back anytime soon.

Been a few times since my last review. One thing you know you will not be disappointed only if you arrive on a Monday as they are now closed yes they deserve a rest. All staff friendly always smiling and passionate about their cafe. Clean pleasant surroundings help you enjoy whatever you order. Cakes are just delicious.

Cousins meet up brunch lovely cooked food. Staff here are always so pleasant and helpful. Tables clean with fresh flowers or small plant on all tables. Choice of teasand coffees is very good. Cakes well you cannot leave without trying one.

Nice cafe. Very bright and airy. Good quality (Illy) coffee and some really nice cakes. However I can't believe they don't have wifi. Also staff seem so focused on their regulars that they don't seem to have a lot of time for others.

Me & my Husband visited this place after a local reccommended it to us. First impressions, Happy friendly staff even though they were run off their feet. It has a lovely atmosphere and the selection of food is of good quality. Well catered for in gluten free & if there is nothing on the menu they will make it up for you by swapping around the ingrediants. Very helpful & friendly staff. We will be back the next time we are in the area.

Visited for a lunchtime snack. Lots of customers, a mixture of people lingering over their food and drink/reading papers or books, a couple of tables with people conducting business meetings, or customers just enjoying a quick drink/snack. Service was quick and efficient. Orders taken at the counter. Tables cleared as soon as vacated and plenty of customers to step into the available tables. Staff friendly. Can see why this place always looks busy.

Been here two days on the trot. First day introduced a friend to this lovely cafe where we had Breakfast lovely ingredients and beautifly presented. Very reasonably priced. Friend says first but not last time. Second day our cousin catch up coffee and coffee cake so light and filling so tasty.

Toasties and cakes 'to die for' in fact if you are out of town and get a toasty anywhere else it is just not the same.Staff are excellent, nothing is too much trouble.Maz

Visited here on many occasions now, with family and with friends. Can't resist Maggie's fabulous cakes, bakes and the coffee is gorgeous, all the food we've eaten has been of high quality ingredients served beautifully and we never leave unsatisfied. Just go and treat yourself. Lovely café, always spotless, always a good experience. :)

I went here yesterday for the first time for lunch with the other half..This is down the road from her house and walked past it many time because it was new at the time but should have gone earlier, the device was great and went out of their way for my cake being heated up and with cream..Great service and good food recommended if your local or passing by..

Since opening I've frequented this family run establishment. Fantastic personal service, freshly baked treats made on site, coffee with such flavour it weened me off sugar and an atmosphere akin to a small Italian coffee stop rather than a ubiquitous chain store. A touch of class.

It's a really nice little place a slight way from the town centre, serves pleasant food and the staff are extremely polite and greet you well.
