Went there at weekend and there was a bailif notice on the door. They aren’t replying to message on their Facebook either Shame. Lovely food, great venue and friendly staff but now all gone.

Went for a birthday celebration. Our usual dining preference is a definite cuisine with homestyle cooking and no pretension. Once a year or so we do a fine dining option. She is vegetarian, I am less fussy. I am a good home cook, she works in the restaurant trade and we are sympathetic to current difficulties. We didn’t need to be so here; OK so I usually blench at the sight of a man tweezering food and waitstaff that serves the first course with “Let’s start our journey”,; it often signals a night of pretension and not much else, but this was excellent cooking and service to back it up. There is a £65 four course menu and a £85 tasting menu incl a veg option. We had the 4 course. Yes the portions are small, its not quite the ‘bag of chips on the way home’ scenario but its not gluttony either and ‘langoustine’ is exactly what it says. One langoustine, £15 additional option, doubtless because of the dab of caviar on the top of it, but it was the most perfectly cooked specimen I have ever had. They don’t travel well and often past their best before they arrive at a kitchen. The brioche melted in the mouth, the risotto was al dente but not raw and the parmesan crisp on top of it had obviously taken a lot of work, a sea bream ceviche was seriously fresh and beautifully balanced. The monkfish delicate and moreish. The wine list is expensive but that’s how it is these days – deal with it. The (presumably) head chef with the tweezers had obviously put in a lot of hard work in prep before he picked them up. Watching the kitchen staff in the open kitchen you saw zero macho heroics and a lot of surefooted care. The room wasn’t full all night and so I cannot vouch for the noise level past that, but mercifully no-one had turned up a ‘curated’ playlist. Service was attentive without being obsequious; you don’t usually get a recommendation for a Ukrainian ‘shots bar’ at the post dinner chat – we will check it out on a less refined evening. Really enjoyed it, you would be hard pressed to find better at this style of cooking and certainly not at this price level. Definitely worth a visit. Damn fine stuff.

Very interesting varied menu at this excellent brunch venue in Wandsworth. Will definitely revisit.

Easy to book a table for a Sunday roast. Quick seating when arrived. Drinks brought quickly. Roast chicken was scrumptious as was the porchetta. So glad for takeaway boxes, as my daughter and I could not finish all the roast, so we were able to take home the leftovers. My only criticism and it's a personal one - the cauliflower cheese was not cheesy enough for my liking and the cauliflower was a bit hard, but that is just my personal preference. Would recommend and will be back.

Friendly. Not busy at 3.30pm on a Thursday . . .! Only Fuller's London Pride on cask, but well kept.

Esta mañana, tuve un encuentro desafortunado con un miembro del personal masculino mientras me preparaba para ir a caminar por la mañana. Su comportamiento era bastante preocupante — agresivo y desagradable, lo que me hizo sentir sobresaltado e incómodo. Como mujer solitaria en un nuevo lugar me asombra que pueda ser tan abrasivo y hostil. Cuando entré en la zona de desayuno, estaba tratando de aclarar qué puerta debo usar para salir, dado que hay dos entradas. El funcionario respondió de manera bastante conflictiva, cuestionando mi origen. Declaré que yo había venido de mi habitación, pero él repitió la pregunta con una expresión bastante intensa. Le expliqué una vez más que mi intención era simplemente ir a caminar por la mañana y tomar un café. Finalmente, me informó que la zona de desayunos estaba cerrada, a lo que le comuniqué mi desconocimiento de ese hecho, afirmando que había entrado por la puerta abierta. Después de algunas dudas, finalmente me dirigió a la salida apropiada. Me sentí obligado a mencionar que su enfoque fue innecesariamente duro, a lo que se limitó a reaccionar con una expresión que parecía descartar mi preocupación y extremadamente grosera. Me encuentro bastante sorprendido por este encuentro. Plantea una cuestión sobre la idoneidad de su conducta en un entorno profesional. Por el contrario, el personal a mi llegada era educado y servicial. Es una vergüenza ya que ha amortiguado la buena imagen de la posada de los cerveceros.

The food is always great. Lovely Menu with all the pub classics but also plenty of other options. Service friendly and efficient. Highly recommended.
