Sad and bad experience here on a sunday for the roast. Very sloppy cooking. Unedible caluflower cheese, poor qaulity sausages, tasteless cabbage, avarge Y-pudding, tough meat in the Hammer, off tasting carrots, overcooked brocolli stems, only good thing was the duck fat roasted potatoes and the above par gravy. This place is all social media hype. After just having paid 300 pounds I was asked by the waitress to give them online review so she "would get paid extra, I get paid more when customers give a review." Then I was handeld a card with a qr-code. Sorry? I just spend a lot of money for substandard food and service and now you want me to do your marketing for you and on top af that make sure your staff are paid a decent wage by doing so? A sad, disgrace of "hospitality". Shame on you people. Go elsewhere.

I was SO excited for this as it's been so recommended but left feeling a bit meh. Food was lukewarm and gravy was thin and watery. Really not usre what the hype was for. The service was lovely though and our waiter was very sweet.

Absolutely awesome food and atmosphere. Sona and Vas were so attentive. If you are looking for a great Sunday roast then the Alma is a fab choice. Enjoy.

We really enjoyed the Sunday roast at the Alma and were well looked after by Chloe.

It’s unfortunate to say that our experience from start to finish was far below expectations. When I inquired about the gluten-free options for the scallop and cauliflower cheese, our waitress said she’d check, but didn’t follow up until the scallop was served. Unfortunately, the portion was incredibly small and disappointing for the price. Additionally, we were never informed what scallop was gluten-free and what one was not. Instead, the dishes were simply slammed down on our table without any clarification. This lack of communication only added to the frustration and left us feeling ignored. Even more surprising, my plate was whisked away while my friend was still eating his starter. For our mains, we ordered the beef roast, requesting one medium and one rare. It turned out to be the worst roast we’ve had in London. The vegetables were cold, and the beef was so gristly with a strange flavour that we couldn’t finish it. To top it off, we were asked how our meal was just minutes after it was served, before even having a chance to taste it. After finishing, no one inquired about the meal, offered more drinks, or provided a dessert menu. Feeling rushed, we decided to ask for the bill. The bill was brought swiftly, along with the card machine, making us feel almost pushed out, despite having time left on our booking. Later, we went to the bar for drinks. When I ordered a glass of rosé, the first glass arrived with lipstick still on it. I had to ask for a replacement. Additional details, like not receiving fresh cutlery after starters were taken away and having to ask for condiments when the mains arrived, only added to our disappointment. Overall, this was an experience I wouldn’t even rate one star. It felt rushed, careless, and unprofessional.

Went with three friends for a Sunday roast, got the Thor’s Hammer. It was delicious. Worth the money, we even had enough for doggy bags!! Sona and Jade were great. 100% worth it. Thank you guys

We recently visited The Alma in Wandsworth for a Sunday roast, and while the food lived up to expectations, the service left a lot to be desired. First, the positives. The roast was excellent – generously portioned, full of flavor, and reasonably priced for what you get. It’s clear why this pub is such a popular spot, especially on a Sunday. We had booked in advance, which I highly recommend, as the place was bustling. The food itself was definitely the highlight of the experience, and I can’t fault it. However, the service was a major letdown. With the pub so busy, it felt like they knew customers would keep coming regardless, so attention to service seemed secondary. After ordering dessert, it took around 25 minutes for three of us to be served, but my partner’s dessert never arrived. When we asked the waiter, we were told hers wasn’t available. The lack of communication here was frustrating – why weren’t we informed when we ordered? To make things worse, there was no real apology, and by that point, my partner didn’t want to wait another 20 minutes for a replacement, especially while the rest of us had already started eating. What left a sour note was being told we had only 20 minutes left at our table, rushing us out just after the dessert debacle. It felt like they were more focused on table turnover than customer satisfaction. All in all, The Alma offers great food, but the service needs improvement. With a bit more attention to customers, it could be an all-around fantastic experience.

Fantastic Sunday roast and service by lovely Chloe.

Our waitress was brilliant!!! the only reason why I don’t give 5 stars is because the restaurant did not accommodate the pram adequately despite of us informing them in advance, hence we ended up eating with our baby sleeping in my partner’s lap. On another note, the Yorkshire pudding was not good. Everything else was amazing!!!

Food was good and atmosphere was lovely. I ordered the kids chicken sunday roast and it ended up being huge and similar size to the dish of the other member of my party who ordered the normal size roast. service was bad. had to call them over to take our order which took 10-15mins because they were standing by the till chatting or rushing off somewhere else and not paying attention. had to ask for a kids menu for the 3 yo we were with again after saying we would need one when we sat down. i’d usually be very understanding if it were busy but there were plenty of empty tables around. the young server that gave us our drinks was very good however and was very friendly. was quite expensive for a kids meal and 2 passionfruit martinis. not sure if ill come back.

Hands down the best Sunday roast in London. I'd go every week if I could. Great food, great service - just the perfect place to eat on a Sunday! Thank you Chloe for being such a kind server you are a gem!

Food was great but the experience was let down by poor service. After our mains were served the staff were not interested in engaging with us. Despite there being a group of 5 staff stood around chatting with each other and one spending most of the lunch service playing with his phone. Nobody asked us how the food was or bothered to clear our plates. I moved our plates to another table and they were eventually cleared. Nobody asked if we wanted a desert or any other drinks which was odd as the dining room was almost empty apart from one other table, whi also hadn't had their plates cleared. Chefs clearly know whet they're doing and have been let down but the disinterested front of house.

We had a fantastic Sunday lunch and were looked after by the exceptional Chloe.

It was good but not amazing. The lamb chops were good but not extremely flavorful. The sticky toffee dessert was excellent I would definitely get that again. The staff was very nice and helpful. I would go back but only when they have the Sunday roast. It was a fun place. While the scallops were good it was three very small ones that cost about £15! Way overpriced for what it was.

Service was very attentive and constant without pestering you.

When I think of great service in Southwest London, one name comes to mind - Ben. He always takes care of us at the Alma, and pours a terrific Guinness. Thanks for your hospitality mate!

Visited this fine establishment on my most recent getaway across the pond. Had an amazing fish and chips and a finely poured Guinness. The venue is second to none but what really made the experience is the staff. They are friendly, attentive and always up for a good chat! One staff member who really stood out was a young gent named Ben. The big kiwi was quick witted and was more than happy to share his thoughts on the best pints in the pub! All in all a great experience. Top tip when visiting - ask for Ben and his favourite local beers!

I came here for one pint with a couple of mates on my way home from work. After half a dozen perfectly poured Guinness by Ben from behind the bar, we were all hooked. Fantastic vibes all around and the food was great. Highly recommend.

Ben served my pint with absolute ease, not only was he charming, he provided the most hospitable service I could recommend.

Kudos to the strawberry blonde Ben Chamberlain. Excellent service, smile on his face and a can do attitude. We will be back!

Had the lamb sharer roast which we we thoroughly enjoyed although we did note it did not appear to come with all of the trimmings. There were a few bad potatoes amongst our roast otherwise we thoroughly enjoyed our meals and our desserts.

After making a reservation over a month and a half ago based on videos,this place MORE than lived up to the hype. We were completely blown away for an amazing birthday meal. The staff was amazing, the food was amazing and if I had more time I would already have another reservation. Ernest was amazing and patient with our table and it couldn't have been a better experience. Then Jude was so kind, patient, and attentive with helping in covert operations in taking care of the check. Will be recommending this place to everyone I hear is coming to London. Thank you to all the service and kitchen team for an amazing meal.

Disappointing service to say the less. The waitress could not have made us feel more unwelcome. However the bartender who served our drinks was lovely. The entrance to the hotel exit is beyond scruffy. Overflowing ash trays and junk room on full display is hardly welcoming. Not going to hurry back.

We had a fabulous birthday feast at the Alma. The service was great. Ernest served us the best cocktails. The food was also outstanding. Everything was so delicious we left in a food coma. I can’t wait for my next visit to London so we can do it again. Thanks to Ernest & Jude

Was excited to try the Sunday roast given the hype but was left a little disappointed. The staff were great and friendly but the food was hit and miss. The beef was very tasty but the roast potatoes were large and bland (you only get 2). The carrots have a strange soapy/floral taste too. Other veg were nice but overall a little underwhelmed.

Bang average. Roast was decent but desert wasn’t great, brownie was cold then came back dry and not edible. Service pretty poor, had to find someone every time we wanted to order.

This our first time to check out the hoopla of their roast! It was very very disappointing! The beef was not good I’ve had better! The vegetables were old!! Not freshly made, it’s as if to use up all the vegetable that has been a week or more old! Potatoes dry and not crunchy. All in all my local pub that does Sunday roast was way, way, better and tastier than this one! The Yorkshire was so tasteless and oily!! The only thing was good was the pork that my hubby and friend had …. Not impressed I could name a few more pubs that do Sunday roast way better than this. As another reviewer said… Average and overpriced!!!

The Sunday roast was fantastic and we were looked after by Chloe who was very helpful.

We visited this spot for a family Sunday Lunch to celebrate our grown up daughter’s birthday. Six adults and two children. The venue had a good ambiance and style. The staff were excellent in all respects and managed to do something not specifically on the menu for one member. I think the main meal whilst reasonable was a little overpriced and the portions smallish, compared to a similar meal and price in say The Hawksmoor. The deserts we similarly reasonable. Overall I would recommend for service and manage expectations on food and prices.

Food was great, steak was excellent however we had a few niggles. We were the first to sit down for the evening and we were given the smallest table for 4 people which made it a bit crammed (especially with a dog). Once we placed our order about 5 minutes after we were told that there was no side of broccoli, we asked what vegetable was the alternate only to be told that there is none. Very strange for a start, how can you have no vegetable as a side!? Two guests had scallops for starter, they were nice but very small considering the price compared to other restaurants. Main course came and i must give credit the steak was fantastic, one of the best i have had. But i would hope so for £20 per 100g! Hawksmoor is about £12.50 per 100g in comparison. Once food was served no one came to check on us which is also strange. Overall experience was good but for the price (£290 for 4 guest, 1 bottle of wine, 2 starters and no dessert) would expect more from the staff. They seemed very informal which isn’t bad but too informal.

Visited late morning on a Wednesday. Tried the Jubel peach beer which was better than expected. Love the iconic Victorian exterior and it's position outside the train station. Lots of good quality outside seating to enjoy your drinks too.

Despite living so close I always forget this pub exists but it's always a pleasure when I rediscover it. My friend was very satisfied with his oc cheek pie and my vegan burger hit the spot.

We had a magical night at this fine establishment. Not the least of which was due to the sensational service from the most attentive barman I have ever come across, Ben.

Lots of good points, beautiful room, friendly staff, some excellent elements to the meal and staff happy to resolve issues. The beef and mushroom pie was delicious, chicken for the roast was absolutely spot on. Broccoli very good. My pie came with wrong potatoes which was quickly rectified. The roast dinner came without carrots and a side order came after asking. Carrots were not the best and tasted a bit vinegary. The roast potatoes with the dinner tasted like they had stood around for a while. The side of Cauliflower Cheese had been overcooked and had dried out a bit too much. Service although friendly was disorganised. A few weeks and I am sure this restaurant could get up to a solid 5 mark.

The sharer roast is tons of food, plenty to feed a group of 4-6 but the quality just misses slightly. The meat was dry, half the pigs in blankets missing their blankets and potatoes weren't great. A shame because it looks amazing and could have been a really winner. Mac and cheese and veggies were on point though.

Came in to the pub today was greeted by a very friendly face from ben the bartender. I dont drink very often so could not decide but he was very helpful in recommending several drinks to me which I very much enjoyed. Was a lovely atmosphere and the decor inside was a classic british pub. will definitely be recommending this to friends and family.

Lovely rooms Amazing Sunday Roast

Went on a Bank Holiday but still was able to have the Sunday Roast. Having lived outside the UK for over 30 years I forgot what portion size was like compared to Italian size! OMG my plate could have fed two. We also went for a portion of Pigs in Blankets which came with another Yorkshire pudding and a side order of Cauliflower cheese which could have been a meal itself. Very generous portions so make sure you don’t have breakfast. Food was delicious. Service was very good - everyone concerned the meal was ok. Couldn’t stretch to desert as we were too full but we had a blood orange sorbet which was a little tart but still refreshing. Highly recommend the place!

Best Sunday roast ever!!! Stunning service and atmosphere, the best place where to to be on Sunday

Oddly, there were no staff around when we arrived but when they did turn up they were friendly. The food was great but focused on meat so fish options were a bit limited. The pub is really noisy which spills over into the dining room quite a bit.

Great local - always friendly staff. Ben is always there with a smile and always knows our drinks! Ben is a stand out character- will continue to be our favourite local!

Beautiful spot. Delicious food. Not sure why we were asked to pre-order at least a week before our reservation maybe because Of larger party? Anyhow we really enjoyed it. Chloe was lovely. Highly recommended.
