Very good, quite a noisy pub but the restaurant was quieter.

We had a lovely Sunday Roast in this beautiful pub in the heart of Wandsworth. The service was attentive and kind. The food, especially the pork, was v ery tasty. We highly recommend it.

Sunday roasts. The beef was ok. Fairly basic. Carrots were very mushy and the cauliflower cheese tasted like a basic bechamel with a mere hint of cheese and lots of crumble topping on top of a very overdone, waterlogged cauliflower. Extremely disappointing. The sticky toffee pudding with miso. The addition of the miso made the caramel sauce taste burnt. It was extremely unpleasant and I would never order this again. Atrocious really. The custard on the side also arrived tepid. Ate here for Mother’s Day last year. Food and service were exceptional. 5 star! This time around? Our lovely waitress was friendly and sweet, so big tip for her. But otherwise? I wouldn’t recommend which is a shame.

The first roast of the spring and it did not disappoint! It was a beautiful pub. We were greeted and showed to our table by the wonderful Chloe. She swiftly took our order and our food came shortly after. I had the chicken and it was so flavoursome. Thank you so much Chloe and team!

Travelled over 2 hours to have the Thors hammer, sadly by the time we got there.. even after calling prior to arrival they told us only the chicken roast was available. Not only that apparently you have to preorder the Thors Hammer which is absolutely nowhere on the menu, so please beware. For dessert we have the rhubarb and apple crumble with custard, and I can safely say this was not nice. The skin on the apples filled the crumble and the custard was cold. So overall for the hefty price I wouldn’t go again.

Good food, great atmosphere especially when the rugby is on. Had to wait a while for drinks but the waitress was very apologetic

Amazing roast, slightly terrible cocktails

Was told about this bar by friends and ive seen it on TikTok so had to pop in on a Saturday night to see what it was about. We wasn’t disappointed what a lovely lively pub with live music (don’t see that very much these days) Good vibes everyone dancing and enjoying a good old knees up 👏 to the team the pub was packed but this didn’t effect the service food was really good as well Would highly recommend and we will be back!!

We had Sunday Roast - Rump and vegetarian options , it is in my pocket list of favourite places. Will visit again.

Came in to watch the rugby yesterday, amazing atmosphere and food! Staff where super friendly and even though it was really busy I didn’t wait to long for food and drinks We got an extra surprise when they had live music what a vibe will be back!!

Excellent gastro pub for Sunday lunch. Service is slick and we were surprised how quickly our roasts arrived. Chloe made our family feel extremely comfortable and gave the added touch for our warm experience - thank you 🙏🏼 Will have to try the Thor hammer next time for sure!

The toilets were filthy and 2 of the ladies toilets were out of order even though the cubicles were wide open. They were filthy too. I spoke to a manager she was very nonchalant and didn't appear interested at all. Very disappointing. This is my second time here and I will not be returning as the toilets have really made me question their health & safety standards.

Ernest, the manager in the restaurant, is very rude. We were a table of 10, having dinner and the guy couldn’t have been ruder. When we tried to order some drinks after dinner he delighted in telling us the bar was closed. I don’t think one of us at the table felt good about interacting with him, at any point throughout the dinner. Not a likely candidate for a customer facing role…otherwise, love the rest of the staff and the vibes always good.

Amazing time at The Alma as always! Great vibe, food, wine and service! This was my favourite pub when I lived in Wandsworth, I now live in South East London and still travel over to The Alma. Love it and highly recommend.

Didn’t eat here though food at other tables looked very good. Great pub. Great atmosphere. Nice pint of Youngs Special and in a windows glass! Yay! A proper beer glass! Nice staff .. tvs for sport …lots of space and a good proper pub feel to everything here. The Alma as the name suggests does have soul!

The food was ok wasn’t anything to jump up and down about, the portion size was small in my opinion especially for the price and was lacking flavour. Got given about 2 potatoes and 4 mini carrots.. the service was lacking, staff couldn’t be bothered to assist and told us wrong information on the phone prior to arriving. Parking was a nuisance also, wouldn’t go back nor recommend. Massive disappointment.

Service was very good. We didn't like the table that they gave us, and they made a real effort to find and give us a better one, which was appreciated. The food was decent, but we were a bit disappointed and had expected much better. Whole roast chicken was ok but breast was dry. Everything - veg, potatoes, chicken, gravy - lacked seasoning and was pretty bland. You hope for a fantastic Sunday roast and unfortunately this wasn't that

A great institution that is just about hanging on. I have recently stayed in the Hotel two weekends in a row, eaten lunch and breakfast twice. Fullers refitted this pub out after taking the lease back from the previous tenant and added the Hotel and expanded the kitchen. That was about 10 years ago. It is starting to show wear and tear around the edges. You forgive these things because the pub and atmosphere and rugby scene are iconic. But the kitchen struggles to meet high standards when its busy and the hotel rooms (despite excellent cleaning staff) and high traffic areas have been hit. I will always go back there, but I hope someone at Fullers is saving up enough money to do a refit in the next 18 months.

The food is fantastic, the service however needs major improvement. Having to wait 5 minute for plates to arrive after asking twice, making the food go cold. Then waiting an age to pay after asking for the bill, whist 4 staff members chat at the bar and having to physically walk to it to get the bill issued to us. For an over £210 spend including a £25+ service charge It needs improvement and it spoiled what was a great tasting meal.

So far is the best fish and chips and Sunday roasts I’ve ever had in a London restaurant. Desserts are not bad, worth trying. Staff are very friendly as well. Suggest to go on Sunday cause there will be a train stop directly next to it that only operates on Sunday

Food was very good - proper Sunday roast with all the trimmings and no holding back. Portions very generous. Meat was very tasty. The Alma is huge - we were right at the back in a quieter but still buzzy part - service was still great and attentive despite being “out the way”. The main dining room was much louder so I would say when booking to mention if you have special requests (like we had a 2 month old with us). Would recommend and would go back.

My partner and I came to stay over night in February. It was such a lovely experience. We had a beautiful room with a very comfortable bed. Great nights sleep! The food was cooked to perfection and wine complemented the steak. We enjoyed a smashing breakfast the next morning. The atmosphere was relaxed but upbeat, the friendly staff were always on hand to make sure all your needs were met. Nothing was too much trouble. I would definitely recommend and look forward to returning in the future. 10/10 from us in all areas!

Beautiful quality beef for a delicious roast. The venue is quite noisy. Staff were very warm and welcoming. Only feedback I'd make would be having a hot plate for the carved roast so it's all nice and hot on the plate.

Dinner for 6 in the restaurant after watching the rugby. Really excellent steaks and nice service. Bar area busy but restaurant quiet enough for a good conversation. Glad we booked

Rude staff and extremely rude manager. High prices, food poor. Slow serving. Excuse is always, we don't have enough staff. When speaking to the manager he smiles and says you don't have to drink here if you don't want to.

I was visiting from America and my friend was visiting from Canada decided to do a traditional Sunday Roast while we were in London and after doing extensive research decided on the Alma. We were taken care of by Chloe and she was absolutely fantastic and was able to answer any and all questions we had about the menu. Food came out very quickly and very hot considering how busy they were right at 12. Would highly recommend if coming to London and or wanting to try a traditional Sunday roast.

We'd heard so many lovely things about The Alma in Wandsworth, so we booked a Sunday lunch for today. Things got off to a bit of a bumpy start. We were seated upstairs and just left at our table for about 15 minutes. We then ordered our drinks, and that again took about 15 minutes to arrive – it was only a Diet Coke. We then received the drink and ordered a starter of pigs' cheek croquettes, followed by a pork roast and a beef roast with cauliflower cheese and pigs. The pork cheek croquettes arrived really quickly and were lovely. Our mains followed, and this is where we had such a bad experience. Our dinner was absolutely freezing – the lashings of gravy were a dribble, and there was no promised purée. As no one was around to check on us, I found someone to tell them that our food was cold, including the side of cauliflower cheese, which was basically raw. The plates were taken away, and about 10 minutes later another set of fresh plates arrived. Pigs missing but I just couldn't be bothered anymore. This time the food was warmer, but still not hot. We weren't offered sauces such as apple or horseradish. The beef was also smoked, which wasn't highlighted on the menu, and the porchetta was deep-fried. We had the grand total of two potatoes each, three pieces of broccoli, some shavings of cabbage, and about 10 carrots. Still no purée or lashings of gravy. We had to ask for more gravy, and I heard a few others doing the same and complaining as it took so long. We were never offered another drink either. The service was really poor today – not sure if you are short-staffed, but we had to do our own clearing up, basically, as no one took our plates away for ages. We got the bill and left without having pudding. We didn't even eat the cauliflower cheese. Such a shame – we both felt quite cheated out of an £80 bill!

Im so sorry but we really had such high hopes for The Alma after such great reviews. We visited on a Sunday evening for the roast. The staff were plenty (maybe too many) standing around, especially at the kitchen opening but not really friendly or really welcoming - they didn't really make our visit feel comfortable, that was first. We tried the fish and chips - the peas were most certainly off, we did note this, they said it was maybe the baking soda in them 🙃, also the flavour from the cyder was just too overpowering unfortunately. We tried the veggie roast and chicken roast also - the chicken was ok, seasoned but unfortunately the carrots were watery with a hint of maple and completely overcooked, the yorkshires were so dry, they were like paper - they were a complete lost cause. We saw everyone left their yorkshires on the other tables and then understood why. The potatoes, cabbage, celeriac puree and brocoli were all great. The veggie Wellington was ok but also very dry. They unfortunately had no sticky toffee pudding and so we opted for the crumble and brownie. The brownie wasn't great and the crumble was nice, but I think was not actually apple/rhubarb it turned out to be plum with apple which was nice in flavour but with each mouthful it seemed as though we were having the core of the apple, i think its good to just be clear on what we're ordering especially as apple and rhubarb are on the menu but on the bill is apple and plum? The facilities weren't great, unclean and I just think maybe it was a real bad day for the Alma. But for these reasons, we just know we'll not return back.

Great place with a good atmosphere and great staff. The food was very nice, but I was very disappointed with the amount of chips and definitely peas on the fish and chips. Maybe it's because I'm a northerner and used to bigger portions lol.

Lovely pub to catch-up with friends over drinks, food and to watch some live sport. We went there to watch mens singles final (Australia open) at 9am. Great screen setup too, makes it easy to watch from different angles.

Best roast ever !! Roast pork was amazing still fresh and juicy at 5pm!! Vas, Owen and Sona gave the best, very friendly service !! The food came out very quickly! Can’t recommend enough, the hype is definitely justified, will be back again !

I've been there for drinks and watching sports quite a few times and has been always great, mainly because of the atmosphere. Yesterday I went for the first time for dinner, and it was simply amazing!! I wasn't expecting it to be that good, specially the Ox Cheek Pie. As usual, everyone was really nice, particularly with my dog!

An awful experienced spoiled by not only by the poor quality of food, the extremely slow service but also by the loud group on the table next to us. We were sat away from the main restaurant, the other table had 7 dogs mainly sitting at the table on the table or on laps. The dogs were able to roam freely in and out and under our table but the main issue was that one dog “POOPED” on the floor at the top of our table which the group found hilarious. Although they didn’t inform the restaurant I did however no one seemed bothered nor did they sanitise or clean the area! I have no issue with our furry friends however I do have an issue with 7 sitting at a table in a restaurant and then fouling!! We cut short our visit and left straight away. The food was poor and extremely salty with our side orders arriving a long time after our meal and therefore we did not eat them. With all the social media hype around the Alma we were left bitterly disappointed and disgusted with the lack of awareness and duty of care to all visitors.

We arrived at the Alma and the atmosphere was great. We went to try the famous Thor Hammer but this wasn’t available unfortunately 🥲 however, it was a 5pm booking and they were very busy. We chose a roast which didn’t disappoint apart from the gravy which was a huge let down?! We all wondered how you can get the roast so delicious and right but the gravy soooo wrong?? It was like water..

Went on a quiet Monday night. We were told the January set menu (2 courses for £18) is only on until 6pm, but that’s not written anywhere online. So we ordered from the Al La Carte menu instead, where starters were £14-16 each and mains were £19.50-25. Not a cheap meal for a quiet first Monday of the month. But food is lovely in there. Just a warning, the burrata states it comes with crispy chilli oil, but it was really spicy!

My family returned to the alma after a year for a Sunday roast and the experience was just as great if not better as the last. The food and wine was absolutely brilliant, we would highly recommend the chicken and beef roast and very tasty pigs in blankets but for us the staff and service was absolutely exceptional. Everyone was so kind and went above and beyond. We would like to especially thank Sona and Chloe who were so lovely to us and were so friendly to our 1 year old son and even took him to greet a dog he wanted to pet. Couldn’t recommend this pub enough and can’t wait to go back! All the best to you all for the new year, Olivia, Luke and Kristian!

Amazing food, still thinking about the milk bread with miso butter!

I recently dined at The Alma and had the pleasure of enjoying their bangers and chips, which was absolutely lovely. The sausages were perfectly cooked and paired wonderfully with creamy mashed potatoes, creating a comforting and satisfying meal. Our server, Bella, was outstanding—very attentive to all our requests and made the dining experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommend this dish and the excellent service!

The young male server ignored us but the young woman server was very nice and friendly. We felt rather ignored however because we were just a party of two. My burger was very average (the fries were hot and quite good though) but my wife’s lamb chops were extremely fatty. My Guinness pint was not properly poured (absent from it was the proper amount of head) although the taste was fine. I appreciate it was New Years Eve with the kitchen and pub overworked. Nevertheless we’d hoped for better given the pubs marketing as a gastropub with a high Google rating.

From the excellent organisation by the lovely Molly to the fabulous, friendly and efficient service from Jack and his team, it was a top experience. The food was excellent too. 5 Stars all round. I'm a returning customer and I was disappointed that a trend towards smaller and less well equipped rooms since my first stay here continued. This time I was on the second floor in a compact room without a bath. Additionally, there was a problem with the hearing in the room and it needed to be centrally reset. This was done promptly, but it took a further 30 minutes before the merest hint of warmer air could be detected. To cap it off the fire alarm twice went off in the later afternoon/early evening. Both times I left my room and started down the stairs, I never ignore alarms, but before I reached the ground floor the alarm stopped. On neither occasion did reception staff contact guests to apologise, or explain. This maybe because the phone system doesn't work either. I emailed the Alma during my stay and I was offered another room by the receptionist, why this room wasn't allocated to me when I made the booking was not explained. I declined the offer as I was very tired after arriving from south America and I'd unpacked a few things, connected my laptop etc.

I had a great time, the food was lovely. I ordered a roast and I got my Yorkshire pudding missing, but Chloe, who was serving me made sure I got one. She was lovely and very attentive.

Chloe was amazing very attentive to the whole family. Food was great but the roast potatoes could be a little bit crisper. Thor’s hammer was a real spectacle and fun experience.

Rustic pub with an original English atmosphere. Food was great. Overall good, unfortunately too loud for my personal opinion - but typically English.

Now, a MASSIVEEEE shout out to our waitress Sona who was wonderful and amazing! Her recommendations made our evening all the more tasty and her proactivity in finding us the best table for the meal we wanted was deeply appreciated. Sona, you’re a legend thank you!

With me and my partner Staying at the holiday inn express we luckily stumbled on this pub, with my partner frantically googling sports pubs which showed Man U v Forrest- On opening the doors I was so relieved it wasn’t a traditional sports pub full of men, there was a lovely atmosphere of couples and groups of girls as well as lads- there was a really good Christmas spirit there!! We visited several other pubs in wandsworth but I wish we had of stayed here for longer. Drinks are pricey but that’s London for you, wish our local had this same atmosphere! The restaurant looked lovely, hope to try it if we are ever back in the area
